Putting a jet down on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in bad weather; total team effort.
Would have been useful IF there had been ANY description/annotation. As it is, it is just a bunch of guys yelling incomprehensible noises. A waste of time.
This weirdly looks like it was filmed in WW2, The cold War and the Iraq war all at the same time
I honestly don't know how, in God's name, they land in weather like that. How can they even see the deck !?

I want to become a pilot
whats the wired remote in hands with a trigger?
AIRCRAFT CARRIER
Shouldn't they be wearing something a little more visible? 🤔 Like a bright orange safety vest or something? Lol
This is the Real Deal
The hair.
Retired Navy here. 5 years each Nimitz and Vinson engineering auxiliaries. We started doing this in 1921. USS Langley. That’s 103 years of experience. God help anybody that chooses to challenge us.
Only the United States Navy can do this.
Could a UAV do this? Would they even try?
These guys earn there money. God bless.
very very impressive - all of you.
I cant imagine it getting worse
Honestly, if this is what a day on the job in military service looks like, then my thoughts on joining might be different.
Yeah, and people always ask why I joined the army. This would be a reason I guess, as it looks like absolutely no fun at all. The thought of bobbing around on the ocean for months at a time, didn't appeal to me at all, especially in this kind of weather
a good day to call in sick
Yep still vividly remember days like these. Soaked to the bone even with raingear. Although I was up on the pointy end doing final checks before launch. The most dangerous place to work during flight ops. Wouldn't trade those experiences for a truckload of money.
Stay strong USA 🇺🇸
Can someone help me out? What is the guy looking forward yelling out and why? Is this the deck status or what is he letting other know? Thank you!
Wow, these guys are tough. Look at the conditions. Amazing.
Meanwhile below deck where it's nice and warm and well lit you have 4000 people working, arguing, eating, sleeping, fornicating, and getting short.
OUTSTANDING
0:09 what is that the guy holding in his right hand?
It’s called the pickle. It controls the wave-off lights the pilots are following in for guidance.
Makes my palms sweat.
YUGE BRASS BALLS !!!
Magic carpet/JPALS. Let the jet do the flying while you do an augment or virtual reality HITS approach through an HMD, steering the touchdown point rather than the jet like a CCIP pipper. It's also clear that 'unobstructed vision' is not worth a lot as the reason they are all huddled up is to mask the field of view of the camera operator, preventing him from seeing whatever they are looking at as a polarized light TV or perhaps a thermal camera visionics aid to judge lineup (PLAT or DILARTS). You can see the edge of the screen a couple times. Hence there is no need to be risking the elements on an open LSO platform on a wet deck because a camera . Now imagine this circus is happening in rough seas with a significant pitch/heel/roll dynamic and 70ft to water so cold it freezes you into hypothermic shock before you even have time to scream. Optimal efficiency in CAVU weather vs. reliability in end-watch fatigue or foul weather conditions. Always choose safety and median level performance over some whackadoodle monks-play-baseball chanting ritual. We can do carrier landings better.
Agreed absolutely incredible, but what is the unintelligible bullshit that one of the officers on the flight deck keeps spewing
Entire scene is the best definition of "Nope" I have seen in ages :3
Not sure, who's braver: the pilots landing on the smallest runway possible or the LSOs on deck.
Whoa!!!
Tough gig. Amazing footage. Thank you.
Election cycle got you down? Wondering how so many of your fellow Americans are thinking of voting for someone whose own generals are warning not to vote for? An actual rapist for president? Watch this. It will make you love your country again! Heroes 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Actual rapist❓
@@df446he raped the us constitution 1/6/21
Been there done that in the Pacific, Indian Ocean, the Med...It's called Tailhook Navy.
Interview process, have you even been in a high stress environment?
Those deckcrews are unsung heros
What is that guy screaming in the background all the time? I think I read once that it has something to do with whether the flight deck is clear.
Unreal. Studs
@GrowlerJams could you explain to me what exactly the 5mc said as well as what grade the Lso’s gave I couldn’t quite understand.
I’ll stay in my armchair
America 🇺🇲👏🙇♂️
Not sure how the deck crew and LSO cater for the extra weight for the arresting wire has to stop the plane and pilots steels ballz....
Dangerous AF
wow im not even American and im Proud of this, guys don't be naive to let Kamala destruct all of this work you guys do
RESPECT
Awesome video, thanks for sharing! Would you be okay with me featuring this landing in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description. Thanks!
seems like the plane was low hitting the deck a tad early and I can’t make out which wire they snagged, another thing I can’t make out is a single word from the tannoy - absolutely amazing work by all, I’ve lost count how many times I have watched this 👍
