Today is a bit different as I'm talking a little about grief - if you're feeling vulnerable or coping with the loss of a loved one, please know you aren't alone and it's absolutely normal to struggle at Christmas time or any other happy occasion. Look after yourself and do what makes you feel better in the moment. Erin xx

I’m with you. The Ferris wheel I can handle that swing I would probably have heart attack haha.
Camera Obscura looked like so much fun!
I would love to do that workshop! I love Harris Tweed.
Love Edinburgh. Definitely one of my favourite cities.
Very cute.
I’ll have to look up some of these to add to my reading list for next year.
It’s not Christmas without those butter cookies. ❤ Grandma used to turn the tins into sewing kits haha
Amazing decorations, very impressive. Other side of the world here - just came back from three days at the beach - sea bathing twice so far this summer. There doesn’t seem much interest in decorations or celebrations in my city, but many people have been made redundant in our city. So it’s absolutely lovely to see things happening elsewhere and hearing what other people have as their plans. I’m so grateful - thank you. Hope you had a truly wonderful time. (The Lego bonsai tree is amazing! 🥰)
I’m ok with the high swings. I do not like the one that drops you. No way!
Ooooooookay…that’s a really hight swing!! 😬😬
Thank you I really enjoyed watching! I’m so glad y’all are having a great Christmas season
I’m playing catch up on vlogs after having to be away. Love the lights, thank you for sharing. Not many where I am, but I appreciate those who have made the effort.
The best things take time. It will be so lovely.
Ours is a summer Christmas, so lots of stone and berry fruit. But I love Christmas pudding. It reminds me of my grandparents who were from the Midlands and would make cake, pudding, mince pies, everything from scratch every year. And we’d have a roast dinner AND salads because of where we live. I miss them every day, but particularly so at this time of year.
Such a beautiful theatre. Looks like you all had a wonderful time. I’m a little bit envious. 💜
What a fun day
Your squares are gorgeous! I think you are the blanket queen of UA-cam!
Your daughter is super sweet and looks so much like you! I have just been re-watching your HennyPennyMakes podcast episode 5, and was drooling over all of your blanket wips! I thought that maybe during Advent (if you have time) or as a podcast in the new year, you could update us on your blanket wips! I have a yarn Advent this year and am thinking about starting to crochet a granny square blanket using my 20g minis. As you have crochetted blankets using both fingering weight held single, and fingering weight held double, which do you prefer? Thank you! Tracy
I have just purchased this book, thank you for talking about it! You sold it to me!
Hi Erin, I have just re-watched this podcast, as I was looking for inspiration for using my yarn Advent calendar to start a blanket! I know you have many on the go but they are all gorgeous, as are all your other projects!
The colours are lovely, I do hate weaving in ends but the blanket will be gorgeous when it’s finished
Wow! Wow! Your joining is as fabulous as the squares themselves…
Just curious about your lovely accent, Irish or Scottish?
Looks like great fun! My children loved decorating cookies and gingerbread houses when they were little. To be honest we put together a gingerbread train last night. 😂 My son is 18 and my daughter is 23❤️It’s always fun. Thanks so much for sharing!
Magnificent! You should be so proud of yourself! This will be a lovely heirloom your family will cherish for generations. I hope you have an amazing Christmas season with your sweet family🎄☺️🧶
It’s been so cold here too. Have the hot water bottle in the bed and under the covers trying to stay warm in the evenings. The hot chocolate looks lovely. We’ve been enjoying Tim Horton’s candy cane hot chocolate in the evenings but we are heading to the city at the weekend so hoping to maybe find some other brands in the smaller shops.
You have such gorgeous yarn. The colours just pop.
Aww they sang beautifully. ❤
Looked like a wonderful evening. What was your drink at the end?
I LOVE that last sweater you showed with the shorter sleeves.
I love going out to look at the lights. We are heading to the city at the weekend and hoping to enjoy the lights there. They have the public gardens lit up again this year.
So lovely to see you all together 😊
We don’t have pantomimes here for some reason. We had to explain to the kiddo what it was.
Put the kettle on! I’ll be right over for some crumble. I’m having a hard time finding rhubarb here. None of the shops seem to carry it frozen this year. I’ve been so wanting to make my grandma’s rhubarb custard pie. It’s my favourite pie. ❤
And - because I got so caught up in my own memories, I forgot to say I hope your mum is doing well. Lots of love to you and your family
I’m so glad I saw this one. It’s my 29th year without my dad. And I still cry and would give anything to spend time with him again. So this did make me well up and think about that wonderful man. Thank you for sharing. The mint hot chocolate sounds lovely, as does a knit night with your friends.
Oh Erin, I wish I could reach through the screen and give you the biggest hug. ❤
Thanks Colette, I wish I could give you a hug back too when you need it most ❤️
Hi! This is such a nice vlog, I look forward to watching more of these! The yarns are lovely. I wasn't sure what to read for christmas, but now I think maybe I will read the Hogfather, since I only ever saw the film :)
Thank you, I love book posts and vlogs too so I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I've never watched Hogfather so I'm really looking forward to watching it after I've finished the book!
I want a hippopotamus for christmas is one of my favorites.😂😂
It's a great song and she was very cute singing it over dinner to us - just a shame she got camera shy this time!
I am also interested in trying the sock arm sweater as I think it would be good to use self stripping yarn for it but like you are nervous to try hand dyed yarn, I think I will definitely have a go with commercial yarn next year
Yes, using commercial yarn might be a good way to get past my nerves without too much worrying!
So excited to see you 🎄I have never heard of this castle before thanks so much for sharing it.
Thank you, it's a beautiful castle so I'm glad to introduce you to it ❤️
So glad you're doing Advent, it will be lovely to see you everyday! We should have an little Advent Makealing next year! I need to get using some advents ❤
Yes definitely - I know we talked about it before so we should organise a make along for sure! I've already planned out which calendars to use first if we do!
Good to see you back on UA-cam. I look forward to seeing your advents and projects throughout the month. What about a tolsta tee I believe Helen has just finished her Halloween one and looks great with minis.
That's a great idea - I made a Flip side tee before using minis and I think it would be perfect too - especially for the 12 day calendars!
Found you from where Ali talked with you at the EAYF. Enjoyed!
Hi, from Florida, United States. I love color too and your yarns are SO pretty. Also love every blanket you showed. I would like to knit socks, but have never completed a pair yet. I'm like you in that I crochet to relax and make primarily blankets, and knit when I'm more in the mood to concentrate.
Hi Erin, I'm Carla. I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Absolutely love your granny squares for all of your blankets. I've got lots of wips on the go. I like to have a variety of projects to pick up to do, either crochet or knitting. I wish you well for the EAYF. I'm really new to sock knitting but I'm enjoying it. Hope you have a lovely day 😊
with your rainbow blanket squares, you can lay it out and see if you like it better all rainbow stripes or randomly, or striped on the diagonal or something? I think you're right, the flower garden advent would look better as something where each colour gets to shine as its own square or hexagon or triangle or something. With your self-designed cardigan, you said you have a rainbow version that's already knit, can you measure the length against that to see if it's long enough? Or are you trying for a different length? (I'm watching while my 7yo babbles at me about her Roblox game so I'm sometimes missing things). Oh, did you know the video just stops suddenly in the middle of talking about your Yorkshire colourwork yoke?
I have a long term scrappy ripple blanket I will have to get back to as well. I find drops Muscat very splitty, not the easiest to crochet.
I can’t work with cotton either. I just don’t have anything to do with cotton. Maybe just do an hour a day. That’ll work up fast.
Blanket number 10, I love the colours. It reminds me of a sunset. The only change I would make (and that is just me) is I would remove the lighter pink and just have the yellows, oranges, and purples.
That first blanket is beautiful. I’d just finish the end and use it as that size if you didn’t want to finish it. Especially if it hurts your hands. ❤
Love the rainbows 🌈 rainbow of socks!!! I’m absolutely obsessed with knitting socks 🧦 ❤️💜🌈💚🌻
