This week we are talking with Martin Lisius, founder of Tempest Tours. Since 2000 Tempest Tours has taken guests across the plains to see all types of severe weather with their team of experienced storm chasers. Martin talks with us about what these tours are like, and the safety preparations his team makes to keep guests safe. www.tempesttours.com/ #tornado #severeweather #stormchasing #weathe...
A Look at the Impact from Helene and Milton
Переглядів 155День тому
In less than two week, two major hurricanes made landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast. Meteorologist Brady Taylor and Sean Bellafiore have a look back at the impacts that Hurricane Helene and Milton had on Florida and much of the southeastern portions of the U.S. #hurricane #hurricanehelene #hurricanemilton #weather #science #kwtx #stem

Earth's Temporary Mini-Moon
Переглядів 68914 днів тому
An asteroid the size of a school bus will be temporarily trapped by Earth's gravity and will spend about two months orbiting our planet. We talked with Dr. Barbara Endl, from Baylor University, about the science behind how something like this happens. #space #moon #nasa #baylor #kwtx #stem #science
NASA Balloon Program

When you think of NASA research you likely think of rockets & satellites, but for over 30 years NASA has been performing high-altitude scientific research with balloons. In this week’s Degrees of Science we are talking with Andrew Hamilton, the acting chief of NASA’s Balloon Program Office, about the science behind these balloons and the research that is being done with them.#nasa #space #scien...

In before the flat earth trolls, lol. Good video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it
The first one was beautiful
Guar gum seeds are pumped with water and sand into the ground to help fracture the shale oil. It’s a very small and flat seed mostly grown in India. When in contact with water it swells up a whole lot. It’s not poisonous. The oil that seeps into the shale is mostly abiotic oil made deep in the mantle. You can frack down deep to slowly bring the oil and gas to refill the shale. This is where you get most of the biggest quakes. The Eagle Ford, the permian basin and the Delaware basin has a potential to produce near a trillion barrels of oil.
I would love to work in the weather field, especially in a DOW, however I live in New England, you know where tornados rarely happen, and I’m not good at math, which you need a degree in to operate one :(
So everyone knows if you want oilfields ,petro ,jobs ,in America 🇺🇸 fracking is the only cost effective way our formations are honey comb only cost effective way to get oil out , the next grand ideal is electric vehicles that is awesome and a nation killer if we don't stay diversified, we do not have energy to supply electric vehicles and electronics demands already, will take 50 year's to get this ball rolling but your governments have done nothing or not enough you will be in a bind i will be dead ,the next grand ideal is geothermal and will require fracking to work texas has a ton of geothermal and its basically in around the oilfield area's, geothermal is the cleanest energy available but byproduct is earthquakes, all nuclear energy needs to be put on the gulf tx has a shelf for miles make man made islands a couple miles out so plants have plenty of water 💧
Stop the damn fracturing
Cheer~~the branch of science concerned with the properties of the earth's water, and especially its movement in relation to land.😊
Thanks for the new program
Glad you like it!
Crop irrigation?!!! Fracking fluid has cancer causing properties because it has nasty chemicals, such as benzine, in the fluid. 😳 Is carbon capture possible to remove the harmful chemicals before reusing the water? 🤔
@Accumulator1 0 seconds ago Could this contaminated disposal water be used for cooling at a power plant. The steam vapor would release the distilled water back into the ecosystem. Would this steam be contaminated as well like with sulfuric gases? Perhaps running the water through a scrubber could remove the worse of it.
My bill high af Trump 2024
Liars
I sent that here
Yes! ❤
Heart goes out to those islands
Now that’s news
That’s such a cool story!!!
Thanks! We thought it was really cool as well
Did you fly further down Hawthorn? I’m searching for video or pics of my roof before I patched it up, so I can send them to the insurance. I didn’t have time to take pics before patching it up due to the rain.
Thanks for the information
Why is the CDC involved in this?? It is not a disease.
They have data on heat related deaths, and that is used by the NWS as part of the parameters used in HeatRisk
Don’t watch a video about radar tech if you’re too add to sit and listen to an intelligent person explain it. He’s not a clown to entertain. Loved the video, especially explaining how phased array has benefits compared to mechanical radar steering
Thank you for watching! We thought Dr. Palmer did a great job explaining the science
Oh boy, will it heat the water droplets in the atmosphere and make storms worse? Oh boy!
Is range the same? Why no examples shown..a bit disappointing and leaves doubt it really works as described.
What would the range that the phased array radar could see? Like would it be able to see farther then the current radar technology?
This is really exciting. My dad worked in developing phased array for the military back in the ‘60s. It’s great to see it being applied like this.
That's cool that your dad worked on them in the 60s!
My question: How well will they be able to send that huge amount of data out? We’re talking up to 100x the refresh rate. When there is a larger storm, will “everyone” be able to download all the updates constantly?
Radar or weather manipulation technology?
I hope this gets validated and rolled out. That would be super fucking cool.
Congrats on the success of your video Boomer Sooner!
Great job Tasha! Awesome projects!
How many people noticed that the framed picture to the right of the blackboard depicts "The eye of Horus"?
Hurricanes are named after women Because they work on the same plan Start up over nothing Make a whole lot of noise And can't be controlled by man! Nipsey Russell
I hope the NWS eventually rolls this out as a national update.
This tornado looked like it was on an evil mission right from the start! How fast it was " grinding " away even as a rope tornado gave a preview of how devastating it would become. I think this is the " one " everyone will always compare other tornados to and let's pray that there is never another one like it!
And how many will be hitting Texas?!! <sigh>
And today my birthday
Happy Birthday!
Nexrad are causing weather and killing people!
What does the name "Horus" mean? Yeah...
Wow! So... Does that kind of work similar to HAARP?... But for visualization?
Anyone else catch the Horus symbol in the frame behind him? Haha I like this guy!
I just made a similar comment. So at least two of us noticed it and were aware of the significance!
It is impossible to be excited about finally having the budget to get a basement bargin version of something that was commercially available in the 60s but at least he didn't cry
Very nice work. Congrats
It will be interesting to see if entities like the national weather service switch to systems likes these, how will they serve the data for use. The amount of data generated by level II nexrad radar data is already quite beefy. Each scan is quite a bit of data, but due to the low volume even a modern phone can pull the data pretty easily. Changing that from minutes to seconds will increase the data being push by an order of magnitude. There might have to be more levels of processing to be able to massage the data into manageable amounts for more casual uses cases.
What a miracle! It’s amazing there weren’t any fatalities. Thank goodness for the tornado sirens and phone alerts that got everyone into their safe spaces. So glad to see this family made it through.
You can usually tell when someone knows what they're talking about and Dr. Palmer definitely seems to know what he's talking about lol
Blessing to you.
Don't airplanes already have phased array weather radar on board?
I honestly don’t know if Horus will increase warning times for those plains supercells y’all get in Oklahoma, but the QLCS stuff and embedded supercells we tend to get in Ohio evolve very quickly, sometimes between scans of the 88D radar. Either way, more data equals better forecasting, which will ultimately save lives and mitigate property losses. That’s the real goal here.
You dont need 4 faces, you only need 3. Can someone send me a check for the 25% cost savings I just accomplished? Thanks! 😂
NOAA mandates reporting for weather modification efforts, and one source of weather modification is with microwaves that weather radar uses.
