Firman Tri Fuel Generator Problem - Part 1

This is part 1 of 2. Once I hear back from FIRMAN I will post the second video. As you can see I love the unit but had problems with it. Currently waiting to hear back from Firman with the response and second video will be about their response. Earlier This year I posted another video about how happy I am with all of my generators including this one. I still think it’s a good unit but I’m curio...

Thought this for my 2001 Ford Ranger. Did nothing to my ranger and I already past my window of return so I just decided to tear it open.
Keep making videos buddy that guy was probably just having a bad day
I had the exact same tracker and we loved it. Sold it with 3400 hard miles of towing 18 ft trailers and hard trail riding on the original belt. Never had any issues. Only complaint was you couldn't lock the front diff so was never more than 3 wheel drive. Had to use the winch many times but other than that my family of 7 loved it. So quiet and smooth and would go most places we put it. Moved up to a 4 seat honda talon live valve for the softer ride as the older kids got thier own sxs and didn't need any many seats but it was a great one.
They are pretty much an arctic cat prowler pro. Most Parts are interchangeable.
Very informative. My concern was the rattle, but now I know what causes it thank you so much.
I was thinking about buying one....for my lady veloster.....but NOPE
I just got a 03 with 1700 miles for 650$ it was in limp mode and the guy couldn't figure it out

Do not let other people make you feel like shit! I spent too much of my life thinking other people were better, more knowledgeable, richer, stronger, etc. And some are, and it matters nothing to me now. 😀
Thanks for posting . Own a 2023 Nebula Black CLX 700 . Ride safe ,and keep the rubber side down .
It happens you are the second clx700 owner youtube suggested to me with the same issue. I dont even own a cf moto. But apparently a known issue nothing to do with the exhaust. Enjoy the bike.
I like the white, it looks good
They are made by Artic Cat. Traker is the label that Bass Pro / Cabelas sells them under.
Jeremy, how is your bike vibrating? Are you satisfied/dissatisfied with vibrations of a parallel twin? Cuz mine has firetorch cat and a stock exhaust and it is vibrating as hell(( My hands are getting num after 40-50 minutes of driving.
Good question. So there are zero vibrations in mine. I have stalk grips. If I feel the metal tips at end of grips, then there are immense vibrations. I assume these are vibration absorbers. Does your have them metal tips on grips?
Isn't it as easy as not using cruise control? My bike stopped once in a highway and I am lucky to be alive
Hey there from Poland from another owner of a CLX700. Clx has a "kawasaki" er6 engine which CFmoto had copied. Same displacement, but shorter stroke. On the contrary MT800 (IBEX in US) and NK800 do have a KTM LC8 heart.
The wonky fuel sensor is and should covered under warranty. I covered that on a short video on my channel. If I had to complain yes, the signals do turn off early, but I'm going to say it is not a preprogrammed timing issue. Even the dealers aren't able to get some information from CFMOTO. Over my 18,000 miles I believe it happens because the bike is picking up ever so slight leans as we move to the side of the turning lane. My turn signals don't turn off once I'm fully in the lane and restart them once I'm fully stopped. Here in Upstate NY not all traffic turn lanes have optical sensors, so I can literally sit through many cycles of red and green lights because the bikes are very light and don't have enough steel for the magnetic sensors to pick up and give the green turn light. Those with optical sensors can be tripped by flashing your high beam. I know where they are and no longer wait. Once traffic is clear I run the red turn signal. If you tell them that, in a calm friendly tone, law enforcement is pretty cool and you'll probably ride away without a ticket. If you tell them you've been waiting through a few cycles and he's been in hiding watching you, your day might not turn out so good. One other thing I can suggest is that you use GOOGLE MAPS or something like the free SPEEDOMETER PRO app to see how far off your speedometer is. Mine starts off 2mph slower up to 45mph and increases to 5mph at 80mph being 75mph. At the very top being 5'4" 190lbs a dual USB port on the handlebars, along with mirror and bar mounts for 2 cameras and a GPS, extra batteries, a magnetic tank bag carrying some tools, a bottle of water, extra eyeglasses, whichever tinted or clear visor I wasn't wearing bungeed to the seat because I never know how long I'm going to be out, and a 1 liter fuel bottle strapped to the rear turn signals, at a fast changing 115-116mph on the speedometer I was "only" doing 109mph on flat ground with no crosswind. I found a video on YT that showed someone with a CFMOTO quad who was able to change the wheel circumference size in the display but even though one commenter said he was able to change it on his CL-X but couldn't remember how, when I asked the dealer to look into it their CFMOTO tech said that this wasn't an optional setting on their bikes because they aren't vehicles that owners would routinely change wheel sizes on. Keep posting these good short updates!!
Thanks for posting your problem. I've been dealing with this problem since October 2022. The CL-X motor is actually from Kawasaki although they did/do have an agreement with KTM to make engines for their bikes. That code P06069.4 is/was an unknown code and not originally believed to be the problem that fixes the Cruise Control issue. The dealer swapped out my ECU only to have the problem return. I also swapped out the Gear Sensors several times removing the copper washer only to have the problem return again a few weeks later. There was an updated kit of some 20+ parts including a completely designed Transmission Gear Sensor, Reverse Gear Sensor and a new case that houses it in front of the Shift Drum that is dated January 2023. When my and dealer and I spoke to their CFMOTO tech rep in Minnesota telling him I had found a single photo of the kit on an Italian Facebook post he said he had no way of finding out about it. He moved to a different position in the company and within a week of the new tech hearing about it and my situation the parts kit was installed. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem for me. As your dealer did the work under the bike's 2 year warranty you might want to pass along this information. Here in NY before that 2 year runs out there is an Extended Warranty available through CFMOTO that covers an additional 4 years for only $580. You should look into that as well. I have posted many short videos you can show him or make your own but you are correct in observing that it happens more frequently as ambient temperatures rise and only in 6th gear above 65mph. I've just hit 18,000 miles most of which were in the colder months here in the the Upstate New York Catskill Mountains so discovering that replacement parts hadn't worked wasn't immediately possible. During the warm months I have had to stay off the Thruway where extended higher speed riding recreates the problem. A disappointing issue with CFMOTO is that their global websites are not universal or cohesive in that depending on the country the model changes from 700 CLX to CL-X700, CLX 70 and almost every possible combination of spacing and dashing. Discovering this led me from a simple search to spending hours searching for information with all variants on facebooks group and online forums. Though yours just popped up while answering a comment on one of my videos, obviously I didn't find you or I would have commented sooner. The moderator of the US owner's group on FB took it private and after sending a memo asking why he'd want to hide this valuable data/info from anybody, especially if CFMOTO had a secretary somewhere scouring the web for good or bad press I didn't get a response. Not long after that I started posting updates on this issue to the "CF Moto CLX700 owners" grou and and both explaining that people were losing midrange power because they removed the catalytic converter and a changed to open mufflers resulting in a loss of back pressure and then asking someone why they would potentially risk voiding their 2 year warranty because there was no "official retune" available, that moderator started deleting my all my update posts within minutes It was also amusing that as soon as he specifically made a separate section to sell parts and other items and warn of possible removal from the group, people with shops in the Philippines started offering non CFMOTO bikes and gear. My last attempt to say that the updated kit didn't work and offering my grandmothers underwear for sale was pulled instantly and resulted in and him disabling direct messaging. I can say that so far CFMOTO has had my dealer replace both sensors multiple times, the complete throttle assemble, the entire wiring harness, and the update kit at no cost to me. Unrelated to the Cruise problem they have also changed the Fuel Sensor which was reporting less fuel than was in the tank, and both intake manifolds because the bike idled high when they rode it into the shop to change the Fuel Sensor also under the warranty. Because I rely on the Cruise due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and I just don't want to stay local another summer, with the dealer's understanding and agreement I have filed a Lemon Law claim. I really don't want another bike and because I'm able to put a lot of miles on, I'd like to be the guy to test out their fix. But at the same time if they offered me the 2023 blacked out version I'd like to be the guy who makes a test ride to every dealer on the East Coast telling and collecting stories and data to share with them. It would be ever nicer if they covered gas and tolls. If you hadn't heard, in January of 2024 they announced their 51% to Yamaha's 49% partnership to make and sell bikes in China!! Keep up the good videos as the more CFMOTO and prospective buyers hear from us, the better they will become.
Thank you for the reply. I love comments like this. I will say the issue is fixed but now I have a new issue since I've posted this video. Now as I'm on cruise control in 6 gear, the bike display will randomly change to first gear and it cuts and cancels my cruise control. If I put upward pressure on the gear selector with my foot it goes back to 6 on the display.
@@dakotajiverson21 Thanks for your reply. I have some pretty good news that I'm 99.9% sure that the Cruise Control Gear and dying on the highway problem is fixed. I did 300+ miles in the rain on Thursday and had no problem with it. I haven't posted a video yet because while the temperature here in Upstate New York was 84°F when I started out, by 120 miles in I forgot to consider that the elevation had changed to 1300ft as I headed North and along with the rain the temperature had dropped by 10°. I told the dealer to hold off calling CFMOTO because Wednesday is supposed to be 94° and I'm heading East for another run to call it fixed. I will be posting the results in a video as soon as I can which will be including photos along with screenshots from both runs because I use the free Speedometer Pro app that shows travel speed mileage including the dips when you hit the brakes with a map on a graph . Feel free to check my YT Channel page for my email address if you'd like to contact me by email or phone. I'd be more than happy to send you all the part numbers for what they covered under warranty that you should have your dealer address.
I know it doesn’t look like much but I use this and can notice the power and extra gas mileage
You shouldn't be offended by that monkey from the dealership. The bike is yours, if it's compatible do whatever you like it. My GSXR K4 has 69,000 km on the clock with a custom exhaust and an unknown history, works like a dream after so many years. If the computer and sensors detect different readings from what they expect it can throw codes, yes, not sure about completely shutting off(depends on how the firmware for the ECU is written). But a random guy insulting you is just dumb on his end, if he was a normal person he could have told you to try and put back your original exhaust and test...
Keep the videos coming, actually very informative. I'm thinking about getting one, I'm just wondering how well they handle on the trails.
Will do!
Thats too bad, that guy seems like a real piece of work, its a nice looking bike!
Very informative review. I'm glad I've watched your video before purchasing
I'm glad man. I'm going to put out a second one here soon. Overall really good sheds though. I love them. Remember to ask for b stock because it is cheaper! This was a b stock shed. I guess that means it has some sort of defect. But I was never able to find it and I got $200 off.
What temperature does it get to when hot where you are?
@@caravanningwithcharlie it hit 218 f. And never once again hit over 210 with it off.
@dakotajiverson21 wow. Very hot. I'm in the UK, and hopefully, it will never get that hot! 🔥
Bro my dad bought one for his 2016 i6 4200 vortech chevy trailblazer and I gap 5.0 and r/t all day that chip really does add power bro stop making false videos cause it added at least 30 hp maybe not what it was supposed to be but it works
Totally bro! Heck maybe it added 100 horsepower! I think the more glue they throw in there....the more torque you get out of it.

@@StreetCultured I know right? So funny. When I posted this I never thought it would get so many views and attract the attention of paid trolls.
You can tune it, and it will have a similar power curve as the MT07 and SV650... you'll get more grunt down low and a extra HP too at peak and down low. Factory ECU is like a Honda VTEC motor for power delivery...
Thanks
Blinkers turn off as soon as you turn in that direction at all is what is happening
Really? Hmmm. I will confirm that. I truly appreciate your response. Either way though that isn't a bad design because it turns off before I am out of my lane and into the new one
I've just gotten used to it but I've had mine for almost a year now
I pick mine up on Saturday next week
What year?
22 left over
Thank you
It was fairly interesting til I seen the snapcat t-shirt , I lost interest!
You should have seen my underwear!
I just got a new 2023 for $5k. Don't know about the older model but off-road mode on mine actually changes the fuel mapping delivering more lower end torque and actually audibly changes the exhaust note. I found off-road mode felt good when I was riding in the rain recently. Throttling is not as aggressive as sport mode which seems like a good idea when traction conditions are less than ideal and not anemic like eco mode. Turning on off-road mode alone on mine doesn't turn off rear ABS. You have to then hold the lower part of the switch that says abs for like five seconds before it disengages rear ABS. My model also has a traction control button on the right hand switch pack that allows you to turn off traction control while in any rider mode. Very happy with this bike so far. Just shy of the 600mile break in so can't speak on long term reliability but I plan on making some review content as I put more miles on.
Excellent comments. Good to know everything you said. I too will update on the reliability of my machine. I will write it very heavy once it clears up here in Utah I will write it to work and go on fun trips behind the Wasatch front.
@@dakotajiverson21 yeah weather has been iff out here in CA rain wise but I have ridden it to work every dry day I could and have done a couple 100mile ride outs through the Twisties and some rough "paved" backroads. Off-Road mode felt really good and confidence inspiring on the one day I got caught in pretty heavy rain coming home. T-Rex-Racing makes a heavy duty skid plate and crashbars and sliders that fit this as well as the Kawasaki Z650. By the way the engine in the CL-X is a licensed Kawasaki ER6 platform that is found in the Ninja, Z, ZRS, and Versys 650s just increased to 693cc.
These chip have to be tuned and dyno u dont just plug them in lol if tht is the tact every one would have them installed so with that being said you have to have ur ecm tuned with tht chip and have ur car dyno for the true proformence
I don't think that's relevant. I think opening it up to see how they are made tells me everything I need to know.

$3500 has to be the best price in the nation! What a steal!
Thanks for the video. Its very difficult to find a long term review of this bike anywhere! I don't know why. Plenty of reviews when the bike first came out but 0 long-term reviews! I get that it's a "fun" bike but what about daily commuting? You mentioned something but you are focused on the fun side of it. I understand but what I want to know is how well is the bike set-up from the factory (suspension, brakes, seat, torque for low rpm) as a daily commuter. I would appreciate your opinion on that.
My man, I bought it used and not from factory, but it appears to be all stock besides the exhaust. The brakes are very good. The seat is way more comfy than the Ninja 300 I had. You do not lean as far forward on these and so it does not hurt your crotch area. In lower rpm, I would say the bike does not have a lot of power but it makes up for in the high rpm. This will be my daily commuter during the summer and it will be just as good or better than any other bike I have had. And mine has 1600 mi on it so far and it feels brand new still.
@@dakotajiverson21Ok, thx man.
get the abs checked, you don't want the abs failing on you.... also the exhaust is literally carrying the bike's sound, I mean for 3500 that's a steal man fr
I just made a deal on a single cab 2022 waterfowl edition with low miles. Where did you get the upgraded LED lights? I was holding out for years for a Honda Pioneer, but this one just came my way. It's basically the Arctic Cat Prowler - I hope it's a good machine.
When you change your battery, please do a video on how to get the metal clamp over the battery..I tried for an hour and finally said the heck with it and left it off...they only give you an inch to get your fingers in to put that metal piece back over the battery to ensure it doesn't move...They should have put the battery under the hood for easier access....
So, I had problems with this when I changed my battery 2 months ago, but then I realized I left out a floor piece that goes under the battery that makes it tight under the metal piece. Sounds like you're having a different issue though. I'll see if I can make something for you to explain it
The battery is to heavy to be trying to lift it with two fingers. The bottom piece the battery sits I keeps it tight, but once in how do you get that metal bracket to attach on the right side. The other side has the pin which isn't a problem, they should have put a pin on both sides. Thanks for getting back...how did you get that metal bracket back on??
Did u buy the correct chip?
Right off their website.
I drove from Boise to Salt Lake to look at a 2002 for 3k. Only has 1100 miles. Some ATV's similar year, less power and have triple the miles are going for more. Meeting the guy in 2 hours.
Oh very nice. Hope it works out for you my friend. Word of advice. When you drive home take off the air box cover. Might fly off with wind
@@dakotajiverson21 funny you say that because it happened to the guy I'm buying it from and it's all scratched up that's the one thing about the bike that isn't ideal. But thanks for the reminder
thanks for taking one for the team
Debating on getting it. Any regrets? The FB group page definitely gives me doubts with the people there being negative so idk
I don't have any regrets my friend. I really enjoy it. If I had to complain about something it would probably be the shifter cable. Sometimes I feel like it truly particular getting it into a gear. Not that it's difficult, but if you are slightly off it won't quite engage all the way. I truly believe it is a sound machine. If I could go back in time I think I would consider more the CF Moto 1000cc xl version. It is cheaper and it comes with a built-in road kit., window, roof, and winch. And no matter what you say, those things are pretty dang good. They have dealers all over the United States and they have a warranty that is incredible. I think it is equal to Tracker. From what I can tell they have a bigger share of the market than Suzuki, Yamaha, or Kawasaki. Again though, I think you would be happy with this purchase. Sometimes. I wish I had the CF Moto though because it is a bigger, more powerful engine. It's also a v-twin instead of the straight 3 like I have. My straight three engine has a timing belt and stuff I have to worry about with maintenance, whereas I feel the V-Twin engines are a lot less complicated. That's my opinion. And 100%. I agree with you about the Facebook page. There's nothing that negative people on there. Certainly though, the overall number of these units is sold outweighs the dozens of negative people on that Facebook page. The only people that comment are those who have bad experiences.
@@dakotajiverson21 thanks for the response! Just subbed to you my man!

@@kelseypalaniuk100 have you had any cracking in the bed on the plastics?
It takes 150 miles for it to read your driving. And you probably didn’t drive 150 miles before taking it out. I could be wrong.
My friend, though I am not sure what I have done to deserve that comment......I assure you...it was in for way longer than 150 miles....plus I am not sure how you look past the custom glue workmanship. I have no intentions of being rude to anyone or having anyone be rude to me.
@@dakotajiverson21 The comment definitely came off as an asshole; unintentional. Didn’t meant to be. But like everybody else said, I do appreciate the review because I almost bought it. I ended up going with Thorton.
Still holding up good?
No issues whatsoever. Mechanically sound and the engine still is fantastic. After almost a thousand miles, the belt still looks brand new and I have used it a lot in both high and low gear in different situations. I had to replace my battery but I think that's because I bought a model that was a year old and it sat through a winter at the dealer.
Twin cylinders kinda scare the hell out of me, especially when parts are getting harder to find. But yeah, people are crazy on prices for used ATVs, stuff that is 20+ years old, people want top dollar, almost half or close to what they cost new and they are beat to hell and back too. New ATVs haven't jumped in price, most models only go up a $100 bucks each year, some not at all.
Seems like any atv that is 650 or larger is 10k new. 22 years ago the Prarie was 6k. I'm a little nervous dealing with 2 carbs. Time will tell.
