Justice Rita B. Garman: Blazing a Trail for Women in Law
Переглядів 2902 роки тому
When Justice Rita B. Garman retired from the Illinois Supreme Court on July 7, 2022, she did so as the longest-serving judge in Illinois. However, Garman’s road to the Court was not without its challenges. She entered law school in the 1960s, when there were few women in the profession. She was one of only eight women in her law school class and was once told by a professor that she should give...

Value: If You Can’t Measure It, You Can’t Improve It
Переглядів 1992 роки тому
A cornerstone of business management is “if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” As legal professionals, we believe that we bring value to our communities. However, data shows that the needs of legal consumers aren’t being met. Measuring the value of legal services can be nebulous; that’s where Greg Lambert comes in. In his talk and town hall, Greg discussed how lawyers should be measur...

If you at all read this, I had an attorney in an email my our attorney call me a bigot against people of Latin American descent. My wife is a Latina. He is doing this as a means to prevent us from filing a lawsuit for eviction against his client. He is using a smear campaign to dissuade us. This attorney did not vett any of the claims his client made verbally to him nor did he even have a copy of the lease. While our attorney will handle it. I am about to publish those written remarks to the media and social media.

This is a really good interview especially if you are thinking about law as a career. What a great career and views in answer to thoughtful questions. My favorite quote is Judge Mills saying "A law degree is a doctorate in common sense." The idea that "shrouds do not have pockets" conveys the profound idea so poetically! It leads right into the discussion on legacy where the questions and answers remind us of the legacy of Lincoln who Judge Mills calls the "Savior of a nation" reminding us of our proud tradition to pick the profession of being Illinois lawyers. Thanks for sharing this wisdom. I feel enriched. The other interviews were really good too but this one compelled comment!

I am skeptical of the “business community” claimed commitment to social justice. These are the same organizations that donate tremendous sums of money to right wing organizations aiming to destroy American democracy and replacing it with a fascist form of government.

Any thought to people that were eligible to be released(not flight risk)(not a safety risk)but didn't have bail money and had to stay in jail because of it?

How about she learn what to do with massive theft and more? We're hiring our own investigators to see what many in govt., high jobs are doing to harm us. Mostly those that go in beauty competitions when their insides are rotted. She's not a Republican, she's a closet Democrat that has a blind eye to theft, treason and pedophilia. She should investigate the laptop and then say something. I bet a dollar she doesn't. Because she doesn't care what Hunter and his pals did.
