wonder if he regrets going to games instead of movies. to a lot of us, we get the oddworld lore and the message. but to a lot of others it is just an alternative to the original prince of persia, just a little puzzle platform game and they don't get caught up in it like it was intended

Alternate title: Abe Does a Runner
I have a theory about Queen Sam and the Females of Mudokons. You don't see many female Mudokons, but there must be some. I theorise that in traditional culture, Queen Sam lays eggs of course, but the task of females - as it is in beehives, and indeed we see the Keepers are in something like a Beehive - is to tend to the Queen and her eggs, and when they grow older, start taking care of young Mudokons as a kind of surrogate mother. When they're much older, they become more mystical. and develop shamanistic abilities. As a usually Matriarchal society, tending the queen and her young is of course a very well respected job. Abe's abilities, of course, are a sign of Mister Special. I mean, he's Mister Special anyway. Of course the Glukkons have Queen Sam constantly laying and take away her eggs and just hatch them and promptly enslave them. No need for female Mudokons looking after the lonely Queen, who is convinced her beloved babies live safe and comfortable lives. And since females are not as physically strong as males and can't do things like mine for 18 hours a day, Glukkons have found a much more profitable use for female eggs...

I'm glad he (or they) did go in that direction. Exoddus always felt like just another Abe story and not the second Oddworld story. I like the little changes that came with New'N'Tasty when compared to the original game from 1997, which plays terrible when you go back to it now. New'N'Tasty and Soulstorm all the way.

For moments to establish scale here and there, using zoom-outs works, but I think closer framing is more immersive, the original games were an excellent distance. I think they correctly intuited the best field of view in those first games but maybe now are over thinking it. I do love those large scale moments though, but best to settle in closer for the majority of the gameplay. Crafting on the other hand, uh! Let's keep crafting out in future can we? Great upload.

double jumping off the bar to the left (on the crane for example) and then attempting to jump back right and above to grab a ledge , is insanely difficult ... there are no tutorials how to do this beyond , keep trying for a few days and you might make it ... that's where you have a ton of people just putting the game away and that's why none of them will ever buy the next one

As a pitch/hook to make the game stand out I don't think 2.9D would have really taken even if it had gone well for them. I think the whole concept of manipulating fire with flammable liquids works much better as a potential hook. It's something i've never seen myself and the mechanic itself it very satisfying to play around with.

The grunt and groan sounds in Oddysee and Exoddus were both Josh. Lorne did various sounds in New’n’ Tasty and Soulstorm as Abe.

Abe's voice in Oddysee was the best by far. It had that unassuming weakling quality that they wanted but it wasn't goofy in any way. It was this soothing and calming tone that complimented the game beautifully.
Oddysee was perfect, they made home way too goofy after that.
I agree, but it's quite weird that the voice in the cutscenes is so different from the gamespeak. I really like Lorne's voice as well though.
@@Nov-5062 The voice in oddysee cutscene is almost idenitcal to the gameplay. You apply that high pitch filter on any voice and it is gonna sound similar. They sound near identical.
@@Chaingun The in-game voice sounds softer while the cutscenes voice sounds more raspy and with a redneck-like accent.
