Lalo Schifrin once said that the difference between the first cue in a film, whether it be the main titles music or not, and a TV show's title music is this: Nobody's going to walk out on a film they've just paid to see, just because they don't like the first piece of music in it. However, a TV show's title music has to grab the attention of people who aren't already sat in front of the telly.

No theme compares to the original.

The theme was the best part of the show. My 99 year old dad called Mission Improbable. He also had been to many of places the Mission supposedly went to. My mother had lived in some of them and visited the rest on NGO missions. My favorite caper repeated frequently, was gen her husband was in meetings she wasn't invited in those Communist cities, she we go to the old 19th century spas and pay the resident doctor in US dollars to get a prescription and then get fantastic spa treatment. It didn't hurt that she was very beautiful and usually could speak the language. I always wondered if she was a real spy

前世紀、邦題は「スパイ大作戦」でしたね。昭和50年台後半は平日午後に再放送されていました

やはり「スパイ大作戦」はこれですよ　トムクルのミッション〜は別物であれはあれで良いけど　結構音楽もマイナスチェンジしてますね　一作目のedはスタッフ名もタイプ文字になっててこだわりを感じた

I was in my teenage ( way back in my country). when I first have seen Missions Impossible and love every minute of it, but we had a black and white tv then, I was fortunately have seen so many good tv show back then still watching some reruns, Bugs Bunny was the best and still the best today..! We didn’t have English every show are in our ( Thais ) language. But in all the years. American were the best..!😊

Interesting that Peter Lupus was in both "Mission: Impossible" AND "Police Squad!".

Now - something that has always puzzled me. In the TV series, my doppleganger played "Jim Phelps" as the team leader. In the MI movies, there was only one appearance of "Jim Phelps" (as a baddy - played by Jon Voigt) and the "goody" was "Ethan Hunt" (Tom Cruise) - a character never in the TV series. Why ? I've never seen an explanation and suspect it might have had something to do with Cruise.
