So glad you were at Ricks. I gained such a strong testimony because of my experiences at that college, and the beautiful spirit that existed there. I remember loving the wisdom in your talks, and those of the visiting general authorities, and the prophet came to visit and talk to us. My roommates and I used to meet in the same place for the devotionals each time. We loved each other, and we had apartment prayer each night. That was a very special time. I hope I can be friends with my roommates when in heaven. My branch president was president Schwartz…I think that’s how you spell his name. He memorized every ID photo, and addressed us by our first name the first time he met each of us and shook our hand.

Elder Gerard mentions that we should not criticize Church culture. But I wonder what is meant by the term here. Websters says, "customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements." There are problems in our culture - spiritual experience and Holy Ghost in our Second Hour's are not common, and we are losing too many people in their twenties from the Faith. Can we not talk about it? I hope what he is doing is warning against negativity in general. Because I think speaking of problems is not necessarily negativity. Maybe I am missing something.
