Gridlife Laguna Festival Podium Sprint - Track Mod - Class Record (3rd Lap 1:29.28)
This podium sprint session started out pretty rough as I figured out the track conditions after the last drift session but as the tire temps and pressures came in I was able to pull together a decent lap on my last attempt.
I already can't wait to go back next year and continue to find the limits of the car on this iconic track. With losing a session on Friday due to a broken axle and missing the first session on Saturday due to a vibration this podium sprint session consisted of my 9th, 10th and 11th lap of the weekend. That's never an ideal situation but somehow we made it stick just enough when I needed to.
I can never say enough about the competition at these Gridlife events, best TA competition in the States and a great group of guys. This group was wicked fast all weekend.

whats done to the car?
Which line is HP? Graph is a little misleading as the Y scale changes between lines but the graph squares are visually the same size. This can exaggerate the rate of change.
HP are the lower of the two lines, the ones that start roughly around 140 HP. Red is stock and Green is the JB4. As for the Y axis scaling, it's the same for both the hp and torque at 35 each so I'm not following that comment.
@@chicanemotorsport703 Thank you for the very prompt reply. You are correct, the scale is the same and comparisons can be made. The changing Y scale only changes the shape of the line. This might be normal for dyno data results, I don't have any experience beyond what I see on TV and the internet.
What did it make stock?
The red lines are the stock numbers.

That car only has a piggy back JB4.
What ECU are you using?
This was the original V8 we ran and it was on a stock ECU. We have since upgraded to an Emtron KV 12

How would s65 s/c compare to this
I’d imagine with a similar build you could make similar hp but you wouldn’t have the torque. S65 is gutless down low compared to the s65. I’m not sure there are many 850whp s65’s out there living a long life.
That track looks awesome
It is an amazing place.
The straight line acceleration is mind boggling... pulls like a TA1 car. Do you have laptime data at tracks on the IMSA and SRO schedules? Are the laptimes similar to GTD Pro or maybe TA2?? It was great to see the car at a NASA event again... last time we saw you was KS Speedway a few years back.
Oh boy, the speedway was forever ago. I think we've doubled the hp since then. At COTA we did a 2:15 which with the new trans is probably closer to a 2:13. Sadly we are on street tires so it's not quite a fair fight to a GTD car.

Hahaha. NASA guys definitely don’t watch their mirrors like the Grid Life time attack guys. I ran up some dudes butts today and I couldn’t get a point by, sadly points are required. First session i finally gave up after following a ZL1 for 2 laps. Gridlife and GTA both do a great job when it comes to moving out of people’s way if they are coming on a flier and you are off pace for any reason.
Points are definitely not required unless you decided to run your car in HPDE then of course they're required. Time trial and race group neither require a point by. You attended a NASA event you'd think the CCR would at least get a view from someone who competes. Then again you're complaining about a point by. If you were running in a drivers education group then there is no reason to expect a point by based on your video. If However, you were running time trial or race group, you should have over taken the NP01 that was "in your way"
@@TowneElton I should have specified. This WAS the first. I’m on street tires, my fast lap is always the first hot lap. First hot lap per the CCR is I need a point by if I remember correctly. Here’s the thing I love about other organizations. If you are the guy on slicks and you know you are gonna be squirming around for the first two laps and you look in the mirrors and go “shit, I’m 3 seconds off my normal pace and this dude behind me is flying” then move out of the way. That’s not your fast lap anyways. Street tires, the best lap is going to be the first or maybe even second flier, on slicks it’s the 2nd or 3rd. After that the tires and brakes aren’t optimal. These are known facts. Everyone has a lap timer these days, most have a garmin with a delta displayed. If you see someone closing and you look up and see -1.2, then by all means keep your head down and finish that lap. I’d never ask any competitor to let me through when they are on a personal best lap. Like I mentioned, part of the game is timing the lap with enough space to the car in front. But…….if you see that car closing and you look up and see a +3, which was 100% the case in this video then just move over. Move over and say “okay this next lap my tires will be turned on” or “ this next lap I won’t miss the brake marker” whatever the reason is you were off pace that last lap. Why make me jam it down the inside of a high speed kink which is gonna ruin both our laps anyways. If you have to pass off line your lap is ruined anyways, everyone knows this. Thats where other organizations do it better. They work together so that every driver gets the fastest lap they can.
That was great to see the reaction to a good lap. Feels great at COTA to get a full solid lap, it's freaking hard.

Hey Mike, sorry for the delay. We rarely baseline these stock as it's an added cost to the customer. With the downpipes and stock tune however it made 341awhp/357tq.
