    Greetings from Bitola! The guy on 10:30 was singing something about a sad love story, which is a song from a Bosnian singer. ua-cam.com/video/xSNA3lwbZp8/v-deo.html . Also the line of people that you spotted in front of the building across, it was people waiting for new documents with the new "formal" name of our country. It was very late made public to the masses that we will need to change our IDs/Passports/DL and so on, so there was a line in front of that building for like 8-9 months. The situation with the stores is bizarre for non-citizens because nothing works on Sundays(Easter Sunday), Easter Monday is also a public holiday. On Wednesday was the election day, so almost everyone in the country got a day off. In addition to those non-working days, majority of the people, took the Tuesday off so they can enjoy a holiday of 5-6 days without spending too much days of their annual leave. Hope you had a great time!

      @slowtravelblog Місяць тому

      Thank you so much for sharing all of that. Whatched the video, what a beautiful song! Now the lineup makes a lot of sense. Also, must be a big pain to do all of that. We definitely should have found out before hand if there were any holidays and also how Macedonians celebrate their holidays. Now we know for next time! Have a great day!

      When we were there in the mid-nineties, Bulgaria was painfully struggling from the boot of communism. When we went to a restaurant, they would hand us a menu, but the answer to our orders everywhere we went was "Nyama" - there isn't any. Tripe soup was always available then though.

    I don't know if you noticed but the groups from Eastern Bulgaria (mostly those that you said look like birds) are dressed in traditional female clothes in addition to the masks. These groups also have the "priests", the "bears", the wedding procession and the seeding and plowing rituals. Obviously, it's not real priests, it's for fun and a little bit of good natured mocking of the religious organization and everything else. Some groups have the policeman as a character, others a politician, etc. I always find so funny how the guys chose the biggest and burliest man to play the bride 😂

    Don’t make the same mistake others make. Berta predates the ottomans by millennia and as a matter of fact there is not one record that shows ottomans built one city during their occupation but tried to destroy everything they could. These are Albanian cities and towns built by Albanians and not ottomans. I have never heard of ottoman architecture. Constantinople was not built by ottomans. Ottomans copied and added to it over the years. People post garbage online!!!
