How to Grow Portulacaria Afra Indoors: The Easy Method
It's looking amazing, I just started my avocado seed in some water a couple of days ago, I hope that one day it looks as amazing as yours! ☺️
Thank you, and best of luck to you 👍😁
That is so cool! Mine is a baby compared to this
Is there another update on the avocado please? ❤️
Here is an update just for you. Uploaded just now. ua-cam.com/users/shortsy0Dkh0Jz7Vc?si=Sl2wuUyl2nWivwE4
@@TreeVibes Thank you so much! 🥹❤️
Can you give an update in 6-12months pls
That will be difficult. It is not my tree 😒
Love the trunk. How did you get it to grow that thick?
Thank you 🙏 i don't know if I can call it thick 😁 but I just let it grow long branches before pruning it
@TreeVibes how long do I let the branches grow before the first pruning?
I always let if grow at least 5-6 sets of leaves. This will let it build up energy between the prunings
@@TreeVibes great! Thanks 😁
Here is the latest update on the tree 👍 ua-cam.com/users/shortsy0Dkh0Jz7Vc?si=Sl2wuUyl2nWivwE4
hello I bought a sansi light 2 days ago of 10W pointing to my portulacaria at 5cm the plant live indoor at 21° from end of october (when I bought it) and has still some loss of wrinkled leaf, I give some water (each 15 days), and the substrate is not completely granular, I remove the plant from the bonsai vase and add below the soil a strate of akadama to help areate the roots. But still I have some wrinkled leaf, can be considered normal?
I think your lamp is not strong enough for a portulacaria. I am using 200+W and I think I am not getting enough growth. I would replant it fully to new soil. To have different soil will make the soil dry out at different rates, and the roots will suffer. Are the leafs plump or thin? It can be either too much water or too little. And if you replant .. don't water it until you see new growth.
Beautiful tree!!! do you mix your own soil or buy it ready mixed? Thank you!
Always mix my own. For all plants
Que tipo es que es rosados ❤
There is nothing in pink 🤷♂️
Amazing videos thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you 🙏 my pleasure
Какой милашка!
Amazing 🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
why?
Why not 😀
@@TreeVibes I just didn’t know, is it solely an aesthetics thing? or is there a reason like does exposing the roots force the plant to put out more growth or grow the trunk thicker or something?
Mostly aesthetics. But also there is more space for the new roots because the big old roots are not inside the pot.
Las chefleras son muy resistentes, lo recomiendo también ❤
Wonderful,, i like your garden sir ❤❤ Greetings from indonesia 🙏
🙏 thank you
Nice walk
Thanks 🙏❤️
Nice! But those shoes lol
@@JoeandAngie don't be jealous 😁🫰 they are awesome 😎
First time I have Portulacaria Afra ( Mediopicta), It's in a small pot. I just moved it from outside to Indoor near window ( west ) because it's getting cold outside. Now I don't know what to do. Should I buy grow light or just leave it alone?.
Definitely buy a growlight 100%. But not the cheap pink ones from amazon/aliexpress They will do nothing for a portulacaria
Very nice 👍🏻
Wow
Awesome
Thank you 👍👍🙏

Älskar färgen på den!😍
Ja verkligen ❤❤
Wow så fint!🤩 är det en fikonträd?
De stämmer 😁
Nice little tree ❤
Very informative. Just received some of these. Getting a lot of leaf drop on repotted ones. Rooted ones are doing great though.
Thank you 😊 and best of luck to you
Beautiful root structure.
@@Maggot1077 thank you 😊 🙏
Will do an update on it soon😊
Another tip, if you want a good healthy branches do not prune this type of Bougainvillea every year. Prune it once in 2 years (once before summer if it developed tree). In other periods of the year just prune small unnecessary buds and wire it - let the branches grow longer. This type of Bougainvillea is a very slow growing tree compare to other types of Bougainvillea.
That is unfortunately not possible because there is limited space indoors. They are all indoor trees. They just got out one summer and that was a big mistake because it was raining the whole summer.
@TreeVibes I know, you are from sweden, there is a techniques for this, do not prune and when you are wiring it - wire the whole branch, lower horizontally the base of the branch where you want it to be horizontal and rest of the branch vertically, like "L" shape. Or you can just make a rack from wire around the pot.
@BonsaiForRoman i do this on portulacaria 😁 and I am not in sweden anymore. I moved to russia a few years back. But basically, it's the same climate 🤣 check out my telegram if you want. Https://T.me/tree_vibes
@TreeVibes I am also russian speaker, but I am not using Instagram and Telegram, dont like it
You can leave the flowers of Bougainvillea, the flowers of Bougainvillea are not using carbohydrates storage like other types of trees and shrubs. The growth period of branches and flowers are separated from each other. Bougainvillea flowering 3 times a year. Another argument for this, the big pink part of the flower is not a flower it is a leaf. It happens because of pink pigment that tree is storing in a trunk, you can see this pigment in a trunk when you prune big trunks. You are OK, just more information for you. 😀
Great information. This i didn't know about. It's always fun to learn something new
@@TreeVibes Yes yes, I also did not know it with a first tree. Just grow more trees and you will see the behavior.
@BonsaiForRoman Yes, absolutely. it's my first bougainvillea 👍 it's about a year in my care now. They are not very common here. There are about 100 plus "trees" in my indoor garden 😀
Very good ramification for this size of Ficus Benjamina. 👍
Thank you 🫰
Is Bonsai popular in Sweden ?
It's only 10 million in total population in sweden, so I don't know if it can become very popular but there is a society with about 1000-2000 members
@@TreeVibes Thank you for answer
@@BonsaiForRoman no problem 😊 👌

So beautiful 😍❤️
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful 😍❤️
Squirrels plant me a new crop every year! Just yesterday i thought of doing a walnut bonsai. My first year of trying. I'm 62...am i too old to start? Just subbed!
Never to late to start with bonsai 😁 but I think the walnut will not be the best to start with. It's not the best tree to bonsai because of the leaf size but it always fun to play around with. Tank you for the sub! 🙏
@@TreeVibes thanks! Actually, I already have a few Japanese maples and some beeches that are just in the "getting used to the pot" stage. Live on edge of old growth beech, maple and oak forest. Avg beech age is 150+. Literally hundreds of beech saplings every year, but they cannot overcome the dense canopy and perish...maybe 10% or less survuve. 7a East Tennessee .( Daniel Boone walked through my yard...old part of the world!)
@JuniorFarquar then your not starting out you already have a bonsai garden 😁
@@TreeVibes the guru speaks correctly!! Thanks!
I have a Hoya that I got from my grandmother 20 years ago it only blooms every three years but it's always a spactular event. Grandmother called it wax flower.
Nice video. I wont get my scheffleras to branch, they just grow one new leader. What is ur trick?
Fertilizer light and cut back hard does the trick for me.
What time of year is this appropriate? Is it too late since we are moving into summer? Does it need to be done in early spring?
Mine grow indoors all year around so I can do it anytime.. it just needs to be actively growing.

🎉🎉❤
What Plant is it ?
It's a ficus microcarpa 'tigerbark'
Very exciting ❤
😂
Try making a peepal or banyan tree bonsai
Nice cutting
Thanks
Should i place it in full sun after hard pruning ?
I put a bag over it and give it some shadow. I grow them indoors.
What were the steps I have basically the same problem
I saved it from a office. So not much problems.. just the lack of care. I replanted it to more free drainage soil and give it more light.
I used smooth black river rocks and set it next to the milkweed. Does it need shade? I’m in Houston, aka ‘surface of the sun’ 🤷🏻♀️
Definitely would recommend to put it in the shade or you need to refill it every 2 min 😁
Cómo lograste que los tallos se mantengan completamente rectos y verticales?
It was under strong grow light
