Germano-Welsh 16mm scale garden railway; the FeckHallBahn although hedgehogs & cats may make guest appearances! The FHB started with a gift of an LGB starter set in 2020 and has grown… There are 2 main line termini; Hornundtrompetebahnhof and Kirschbaumimwaldbahnhof with an intermediate station - Rasenmäher Überfahrt Haltepünkt. From here there is a branch line to Tiefeshorn via the fearsome 1 in 8 Vogelscheiße Incline.

It’s not only the last Saturday of the month but the last day of summer and therefore our end of summer express excursion train. Hedgehog Too is the motive power for the full four carriage Manx set and, as you can see, it is an exhilarating ride! Except for the portion of the trip from Rasenmäher Überfahrt Haltepünkt to Kirschbaumimwald where the loco is at the rear of the train. As from tomorr...

Two individuals filmed by a motion sensitive infrared camera. First to appear is very definitely an adult male and the second is either a female or a juvenile. Number two has a very distinctive face with what would be called a blaze on a horse. A couple of minutes of calm.

Scrap metal train - Well Weathered Wednesday
Great entertainment as always Nigel👍
That lovely low sun, real natural surroundings, gentle ramblings, and of course, wonderful trains. Just some of the things which make outdoor railways so pleasurable to watch
That little diesel makes a lovely noise. Do you know what engine the prototype has?
It’s a mylocosound card, British light diesel and set to Perkins I think.
Nice to see something different to Workshop Wednesday. How many wagons do you have altogether?
Workshop Wednesday is, believe it or not, the most popular of my themed films. More views than any other except for shorts and the most interaction. I’m on holiday now so there won’t be any brand new video content before September the 30th. Not of the FeckHallBahn anyway! How many wagons? Gosh - I don’t actually know!!! Something like 60 probably. They need a lot of shuffling…
Blimey, what a motorway to get stranded on, and reading the above an expensive repair. Hope your all sorted now.
Very expensive. Two injectors in the end.
On the plus side we got well off the motorway into the approach road of one of those ‘Works Unit Only’ things and I had a grandstand view of the site of Garstang troughs. All passenger units except for a single Colas 70 headed north. Saw the Tesco train as we were getting towards Penrith (after parting with £££) but didn’t see what was pulling it.
@@FeckHallBahn Gosh, thats not good on the banky balance as Stanly Unsworth used to say No-one wants to break down, but Garstang, is not the worst place
@mrowl-the-dsm1304 Wasn’t too bad really. A couple of Northern units (probably late) but mostly Pendos. And a double length Super Voyager in First livery; didn’t know they ran them!!
@@FeckHallBahn Some of them have already gone back to XC , one is with Grand central, Avanti West Coast ( First) have got these Bi mode units,
Fun video Nigel.
I’m trying to be neater with steam and lubricating oil. Sometimes my engines just sit and spin due to all the oil on the track. Usually when there are people over to see the trains…
Ruddygore, great music taste!
My wife and I first met in the (orchestra) pit for a centenary performance of Ruddygore in 1987. We ended up in the pit with each other again in 1990 - Iolanthe - and have been together since then! We’ve even managed to weather 5 Ring Cycles together…
Oh dear! 😢 Not good - hope the rescue team arrive soon and repairs/recovery happens speedily. Stay safe, travel well😊
Rescue here. No. 2 injector failed. Getting a new one in at a close ish garage. Another £700; bloody thing has had a new clutch and rear door lock in the last month. If only it was steam.
Good to hear you are getting fixed. But the steam solution getting more tricky by the day as they shut down the steam coal plants. Have a fun tour once you are up and running again🎉🎉🎉🎉
Steamies are good!
She is coping with the hills very nicely and the whistle is evocative of times gone by. Good job🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Slowed down to half speed to get that Stanieresque hoot!
Great sound😊😊😊😊😊
Right up my alley.
Looked good. Sounded great👍
The figures are fantastic! Do you paint them yourself?
Some of them but none of the ones in this; they’re all painted by David. I’ve got several to do/touch up over the winter.
Who's the lucky lady on Coffee-pot's footplate?
Alfred, one of David Clavey’s fantastic figures. Co-driver/stoker is Zoë.
I guess the camera equipment is not waterproof? Model trains in the rain is always aesthetically great!
The camera is an iPhone so probably not. The problem is the electronics; in the loco and in the handset. The onboard servos would likely be fine but, having destroyed one already, I know that the handsets don’t survive torrential rain.

I like the bumpy track! Do you have many derailments?
It’s not _quite_ as bumpy as it seems on the video but definitely not as smooth as I’d like! Baskerville has one slightly wonky wheel due to my incompetence with a parallel reamer but, much to my surprise, my botch hasn’t affected its ability to stay on the rails. The main problem with this video is that the phone unbalanced things which made the loco pull wheelies, particularly over points. To answer your question, I get surprisingly few derailments. Facing points with a change of direction are the danger zones so there’s a strict speed limit through them

Mirror on the wall, Who is the best-behaved kitty of them all?
On reflection, it’s Scooter. Pstan gets up on the kitchen counter and table although she knows it’s wrong!
Great operation you had going today. How did you create the worksheet? Lots of interest in the defined movements. Good job🎉🎉🎉🎉
@ianwm Did it in the notes app on my phone in dark mode and then took a screenshot. Even more than that! I actually did it BEFORE I made the film!!
Your driving skills are like watching an artist creating a masterpiece😁
That’s very kind, thank you!
Great video. Amazing juggling of controls to get this lot synchronised and filmed😊 Interesting to see the banking operations.🎉
There were surprisingly few mishaps!! I cheat though; iPhone as camera on a tripod controlled remotely by my Apple Watch which gives a live view of what the phone is seeing. I also edit out the hand of God…
We all need a shove sometimes. Who's your favourite diesel?
Tough question!! Probably the first one I built myself, Smoll. The little blue one.

Are those standardized signals or are they specific to FeckHallBahn?
FeckHallBahn specific but based on stories my dad told me about what used to happen on the Lickey Incline (a few miles from me) in the 50s. Certainly the Lickey bankers & brakers were never coupled to their trains.
Excellent
Thank you, hugely appreciated.

Very nice Nigel👍 Those pesky servos.
I think I must have overdone it with the steam oil in the running in phase. When I took it to bits it was full of oil.
@@FeckHallBahn Strange. I was assuming it had just burnt out like they do if theyre trying to travel further than they are allowed to.🤔
@@FeckHallBahn If its sitting on the footplate you might have to raise it up a bit so its not sitting in any oil.
It’s underneath. Completely seized which is ironic considering how much oil was inside it! I’ll give you one guess as to what the next Workshop Wednesday will bring…
@@FeckHallBahn Ehhm let me think🤔😁
That's why a Guard's Van is attached at the back. Naughty Driver should be watching the line ahead at all times. Supposing another engine came towards him on the same track. Don't want a catastrophe, I'm sure. Nice little goods train. Where'd the white feather come from?
Co-driver was actually driving & watching the line ahead but she’s quite short; very rare to have a bv on this sort of train even in real life. No chance of a head on collision; I run a block system. The feather must have got blown on during the trip! There’s a collared dove’s nest in the cherry tree & there are always feathers knocking around. This one is down; really fluffy.
Lovely!
I think i can i think i can.
My favourite song and just when I am midst painting a couple of Swift Sixteen wagons.🎉
Another fun video, Nigel.
Lovely!
So good Nigel👍
I do like Hedgehog's whistle. Somehow reminds me of LNER B1 Mayflower's whistle, which is high-pitched, but doesn't make the same sound. Bet Polly would like to be able to whistle.
I tried to fit Polly & Loch Caradoc with whistles but there isn’t enough room. They both have inside Stephenson link valve gear plus, in Loch C’s case, the battery pack in the ashpan. Polly has the reverser servo in her ashpan. Yes, it’s very North Eastern isn’t it?
Thats superb Nigel, she takes your breath away when at speed up the bank!, the driver is very fond of that whistle 😁😉
He might have been trying to see if the camera could pick up the Doppler effect…
fare thee well to the summer express
We’ll be back!
8 on the hook. No wonder it is a slog.
Why don't I have a garden railway? 😢
Even if you don’t have a garden there are some fantastic micro layouts in window boxes and so forth. Same scale as this one. Look for John Rogers on Facebook. He’s done some amazing work.
