Van Halen - Ain't Talkin Bout Love (Bass Cover)
Found some stems so decided to make a quick cover. A bit sloppy and I'm doing some random improvising but it's a fun and simple song to play.

A bit sloppy, but this song is an absolute blast. I'm having double jaw surgery tomorrow morning so I'll be going away for a bit. Peace.

This isn't my usual content, but Trivium released some stems together with Bogren Digital and I tried my hand at the mix. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, and damn is this a kickass song. I'll probably do a bass cover of it later.
Phantom Of The Opera (Rehearsal Footage)

Here's some rehearsal footage from the band I recently joined (InVincia) practicing Phantom Of The Opera by Iron Maiden. Ideally I wanted to put the bass a little louder in the mix but the battery in my preamp was running low so there was a lot farty distortion going on in the low-end that I wasn't big fan of. Pretty happy with how it turned out anyhow :P Check out our recent release here: ua-c...

Recently joined a new band and we're covering this song, got a bit confused at times since we play it half a step down and I have my bass tuned half a step down. Stupidly fun song to play anyhow.

Sabaton - To Hell And Back (Vocal Cover)

Found a karaoke version on youtube and decided to make a cover to work on my singing and vocal mixing. Since Davinci Resolve kept crashing I couldn't synch the footage of me actually recording the vocals to the music, so instead this is a lip synch recorded in OBS. I'm rolling some of the Rs in the lip synch that I don't roll in the actual recording, and it results in it sounding as an L instea...

It's definitely an upgrade, but still not fully satisfied. I don't think it's quite the right pickup for this bass and my playstyle.

Equipment used: Bass: Ibanez SR1305SB-MGL Strings: Elixir (45-130) Stainless steel Once again I'm using a split signal with one cleaner and one more distorted track. On the cleaner channel I'm using a Ampeg V4-B_custom beta52 IR and on the grittier channel I'm using a Ampeg V4-B_custom sm7 IR. Both can be found from here: www.grgr.de/IR/

Totally awesome, dude!
UA-cam seems to have DRC on by default for this video for whatever reason. Turn "Stable Volume" off in the settings tab for a better listening experience, not sure why it's doing this.

Great tone!
Thx, that's actually why I started OBS and pressed record, because I thought the tone was sounding pretty bad ass ;p

awesome <3
👏👏👏 😄
amazing job on the instrumentals and refrain 👍👍
Just a bit of grit...A really nice touch!
Thanks, the long reverb and the compression smoothens it all up a bit. There's probably more grit in the raw recording than you'd expect :P
Great playing my friend! Nice cover! 🤘

No idea why this popped up in my recommended but I watched it anyway. It was great listening to!
Interesting. I didn't promote it anywhere, I just uploaded it and let it sit; expecting it to disappear into the void within a day or two. Guess it's a good time to be a small "creator", the algorithm is with us!!

Not for nothin' but playing Maiden songs with a pick is almost as blasphemous as playing Ramones songs with your fingers...or alternate picking. ;)
Nice cover ❤❤❤❤
How about using fingerpicks! 😆
Using Fingers is what sets the bass apart from other instruments
I'm no bassist but why is pick bass so hated, it sounds a 1000x better to me. Finger always sounds very sloppy. Impressive, yes, but sound, no.
It's just good old silly elitism. I like both pick tones and finger tones, but it's so much harder to get fingers to sound good, especially when you're chasing an aggressive tone. Some of my favorite aggressive bass tones are fingerstyle though and can only be achieved with fingers, here are some examples: ua-cam.com/video/4Qpb4n6xsfg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ncdPW6l1j_4/v-deo.html
Im a beginer bassist and like the fingers at least for IM. The pick just makes it too overpowering and twangy.
Awesome content dude, loved it
If bassists raised their action a bit and increased string tension, the finger style would sound much better. You need higher action to give the string room to move. It moves in a different motion between picked or plucked
Entirely depends on what tone you're going for. In metal you generally want the bass to be percussive, hence using lower action and going after the fret clank. Thinner strings have more mids as well and cut through the mix better.
Billy Gould from Faith No More uses fingers or pick depending on the song. Fingers when going for a percussive sound and pick when going for a rhythm guitar sound. I usually find that bass players are either pickers or fingers and not both. From experience, moving to fingers from pick is a difficult transition. Pick is much easier.
Muting and string skipping is harder with a pick, otherwise I agree that it's generally easier to play with a pick than with fingers, especially faster stuff is a lot easier with a pick.
Good points. Thank you
@@metaldave3276 You learned to do it with one finger instead of incorporating your ring finger instead? Interesting choice. The coordination between the index and ring is better for me than index and middle in the first place tbh ;p
fingers it works for maiden, but not for many other bands in metal.
pick all day
lol and still more coherent than debate chat
Hahaha :D
