Thanks for visiting my channel Burnt Hill Machine where in my home machine shop you can enjoy projects created by manual machining. I have been making videos for UA-cam for the past four years and have enjoyed it so far. I have a very broad background. I first learned machining as a young boy in my father’s basement where he ran a part time gunsmithing business while working full time for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (CT). I later went on to a vocational high school for machinist. Upon graduation I went to work for Cleveland Twist Drill in RI for 12 yrs. later with a partner I opened an Automotive machine shop and l expanded to include general repair. I have learned and experienced a lot in the past 38+ years and hope to share it with my viewers. I hope you like the videos, if you do please subscribe and hit the like button.
Thanks Herb Gowdey

Beautiful old machine.
Thank you. I have owned it for 36 years. Awesome piece of equipment.
I have pistol that looks like yours that says The American Double Action. I'm not sure of the caliber and i don't see any serial number in it. The gripes have a different on them and i noticed an arrow on the upper part of the grip. Could this be a 32 cal ?
I can't say for sure. I would measure the barrel.
Very nice work. I appreciate you lube everything that moves.
Thank you.

Thank you.
What does a guy do that does not have a bride-port. I have mini mill and lathe but this looks to big for that. I have not taken any of this off yet on my 1953 jubilee
I grew up with a machine shop in my basement. I have no idea how people get by without one. lol
I have 1953 jubilee iam hoping it works that same way. This has to be the best vdo on this project. I subscribed.
Thank you
I enjoyed your video, I have got to do something similar to my Jubilee. I’m replacing the rear hubs due to wear and the brake shoes. When pushing one of my rear wheels left to right my wheels wobble side to side. I’m wondering if I need to remove a shim. I have jacked the rear end of the tractor and checked to see that the wheels turn in opposite direction when rotated by hand. Just thought I would check to see if you have an opinion, thanks.
I usually start by removing shims. both wheels will turn the same direction, then start adding shims until wheels rotate opposite direction. The tractor I did in the video I didn't change bearings so the original shim configuration worked fine.
@@burnthillmachine thanks for reply.
Couldn’t you have saved alot of time and mess by using a large socket of the appropriate size with an extension to tap in the seal?
@robertfreitag7328 That would have been a very big socket. Also, sockets have rounded edges and wouldn't have applied the force to the edge of the seal, risking bending the center of the seal.
@@burnthillmachine ok. Thanks for answering.
I need help. Hammer spring. I’m trying to install a new one.

An indicator in a drill chuck is a big no no.
@Buddha-of8fk Thanks for the feedback. But in reality, that's not true. As long as the indicator is not moving in the chuck it's fine. The chuck could have a 1/4 inch runout, and it wouldn't matter. It's the relationship between the spindle and the indicator tip. They rotate together, so no problem. I could have slapped a mag base on the spindle, and it would have been fine.

how to remove trigger and fireing mehanizam
Interestingly, I purchase 5 or 6 of these clamps in various sizes at the Brimfield Flea Market a few months ago. I paid $5 apiece for them. I hadn't looked close enough. On of the clamps, a 754-C was missing one of the screws. I have been to several hardware stores and haven't been able to fine a machine screw that would fit the threads.
My 32 is made from us revolver company but looks the exact same as this gun and has the same pins. I have a problem with my cylinder rod coming out due to the front latch being worn. If you can pull out the cylinder rod without pushing that latch do not fire the gun. The bullet wont be lined up with the barrel. I found that out thebhard way with lead splatter and some blood. I made a new latch and it fixed it. Thanks for the great video
Hard way to find that problem but at least your all right and the gun is fixed.
Good day, A customer brought in an identical H&R to yours. It too does not return the trigger. Upon inspection, there was no trigger spring. So, after searching high and low for a replacement and finding nothing, I am needing to produce the same trigger return spring that you made. But without the old spring.... well, pretty sure you understand. Would it be possible to get the dimensions from you? I understand I will have to adjust those dims to this particular revolver, but I suspect they will be relatively close. Your help would be MUCH appreciated.
I sold that gun last year. But I have the broken spring. I will make a drawing of it
Email to send print?
I put it on your Facebook page.
@@burnthillmachine Fella, I can't thank you enough.
I have the same gun but mine doesn't hold the barrel pin holder in place so everytime I shoot the barrel doesn't rotate all the way to the next bullet hole it only rotates halfway and I have to rotate it manually it seems like there is a spring that holds the pin holder in place that it might be broken . Any ideas thanks in advance
There is a spring between the tension pin and the trigger housing. What moves the cylinder is the rachet at the back of the cylinder that is moved by the trigger linkage. What was happening with this gun was the cylinder would rotate backwards after trigger was released because the tension pin was frozen.
How do you break the gun down for cleaning never owned one and very confused
Push the cylinder guide rod release located at front of trigger housing, pull guide rod forward and cylinder will come out. Clean gun as you would any other gun.
Herb, They came out very well. It's amazing what you can find at Flea Markets. I got several exceptional buys on Mitutoyo stuff last summer.
Thank you very much. I always keep my eyes open at flea markets.

I think your revolver is a Model 1905 or a Model 05. Same gun just different names. This revolver was discontinued in 1940. Thanks for the video. Jeff

New Link ua-cam.com/video/l_NdTMju6Dk/v-deo.html This was my old camera, and something went wrong with the mic. I'm more familiar with the editing software so I changed some settings. I just don't know how to remove all the static from the bad mic. I'm uploading a revised video. let’s see how this works out. unfortunately, once you perform the task it's over can't undo and reshoot. Let me know in the comments if you can hear it. If you can I will reupload the other 2 parts.
did it work?
Like a charm.
The gun is much earlier than 1965.

ua-cam.com/video/vSXo_Tg3StQ/v-deo.html
how old is this?
Trouble with dominant right hand people is everything is done on the right. When your camera is on the right as well, there are the obvious focus errors when you reach in and out.
Good point. I will remember that. I'm trying to do a better job with the filming. Sometimes I forget it's there because I'm paying attention to the job. I changed the location of my phase converter so I can leave it running and you can't hear it so I'm not constantly walking past the camera to turn it off. Thank you for the input.
I’m going to check out what you can teach me. I hope a lot.
