Why didn't ford pay the extra and fit a chain drive and save themselves all this bad publicity
To make it worse, they did change the newer engines to chain drive... But only for the cam timing. They still use a wet belt for the oil pump. Why not just spend that little bit extra to change out the wet belt entirely!? It's crazy.

Costs more for a chain than a belt. Multiply the cost savings for each unit times the number of units sold. It’s all about the earnings that show up on each quarterly report.

In my service manual it says change oil every 30000 km... I feel guilty when its after 14000 that I forgot ... Currently 220000 km
