The 2023 TAB Eureka Fashions on the Field
I was living in perth when Royal Force and of course the mighty Pure Steel were racing. Little Royal was a favourite of mine. Both he and Pure Steel unlucky in the 1976 Interdominion In Adelaide won by Carclew. Great to see these races on You Tube
I was at Albion Park in 75 or 76 ..I watched paleface adios beat the blue lights ....Saturday nights at Albion Park was big in them days ...I was 17
Genuinely exciting: imagine the straining sinews and will-power of horse and men. Thanks.
Great effort from last on those ridiculous small Aussie tracks. Locarno always had a great finish.
Quality of the film. Ben Hur winning driver in the 1st race on the card .
Beautiful team driving Left main contender in death Handcock at his best
Champion field Champion horse wins
The golden years of harold park
Harold Park was a top trotting track and the best greyhound track in the world they should not have closed it better closed Wentworth Park instead
Harold Park, surrounded by condensed housing and potential punters. maximum transport Menangle (back of Bourke) nothing, no one . Transport (Camel)
"promosm" ☝️
As much as I loved Harold park I love me menangle
what a champion he was
Pale Arse au Revoir?
These were the days. Shame Micron got put out of the race early as he was fast.
Always a non-event when the Kiwis aren't there.
Poor old Paleface. Won over 100 races and would have won many more with a good driver.
Well , what can you say !! The crowd certainly got their money’s worth - two absolutely champions with a huge run by Poppy .
Does anyone know who the racecaller is here?
Is there a reason these idiots don’t use headphones?
I love the trotters
What a champion. I saw every one of his Harold Park wins. Thanks for the wonderful memories. ❤
Bills Student sweeting up still held 3rd behind the Two CHAMPS and in front another CHAMP
Lucky mission's dad, "lucky creed!" cheers 🍻
How unlucky was paleface!! 2nd, "beaten a lip!" in both the 1974 and 80 miricle mile! (and who knows how many more!) Great QLD champion! Cheers 🍻
Considering he was 10 years old here as well. But the Pike's were from Temora so he was a NSW horse.
Beautiful memories.
You said it! (🐨 👑 fan) cheers 🍻
I was there. It was so exciting. Watching this video brings back my memories like it was yesterday.
I remember friendly footman! Along with 🐨 King, gammelite, frosty imp, tidy Jason, romantic Chris, pure steel, maori's idol, lucky mission, amphion, under a cloud, pale face, etc etc. Those were, "the real harness racing days!!" Cheers 🍻
The very reason there should not be a passing lane ,
There is no passing lane at Menangle 😂😂
@@nugsruleifyit just goes to show you are never too old to learn !!!!!
@@peterwhelan6144 sorry not sure what that means
I feel so privileged & honoured to have been there, watching this little beauty. Thanks to my Dad, Keith Pearse's love of the sport. It must be in the blood. My 2nd cousin, Sir Clive Uhr founded Albion Park. My Dad never knew this. Harness racing is no doubt, in my blood.
I am blessed and honoured to have seen this little beauty, race.
saw him race at forbes after this, paleface beat him that day
The greatest miracle mile win ever…simply amazing
Who drove Chokin this night, terrible drive on a tight track.
Brian Gath. The Purdons did not want him in the race. The owners made it happen. Fortunately Chokin recovered, very well. He won another couple of races at Harold Park
It will be an exciting career for you Michelle , good luck .
Shame we didn’t see the race !!!!
Certainly looked lucky that Paleface Adios lost I reckon . It looked to me that he clipped Lord Module as he crossed at the start .
Nothing better than being at Harold Park when the crowd would roar at the likes of Pure Steel!! Just fabulous
"🐨👑" was my fave! Great memories 💭💭 from late 70's thru mid 80's! popular alm was probably the best I've seen, though San simeon, pure steel, gammelite, frosty imp, paleface, lucky mission, maori's idol, locarno, hondo gratten koala King, tidy Jason, Romantic Chris, friendly footman etc etc were right up there as well! Great days!! cheers 🍻
Adaptor - a great example of how , certainly in trotting , a horse and small time trainer from a tiny country town , can come out and blitz higher profile fellow champions .
Another great champion Halwes - there were some wonderful horses in those days with plenty of owner / trainer / driver being the same bloke . Not referring to Halwes of course - just reminiscing !
Oh, this is the year the selection committee chose Manaville ahead of Our Sir Vancelot for the last spot after Our Sir Vancelot had won one of the previous week's Qantas Sprints with Rainbow Knight winning the other Qantas Sprint. For some reason they chose Manaville, very strange decision. Great win by Iraklis...
Never heard "Adios"pronounced that way before. Thanks for posting.
What a champ,omg.
Poppy, "way better!" cheers 🍻
The kid could be just as good as pop u know! (but I no think so!)
@@beauvearing8450 that's a big call 'way better'. I don't think there has ever been a horse to race in Australia 'way better' than Village Kid. I know their times are a lot faster nowadays but on performances in eras I see him as the best horse racing in Australia in the 80's considering his longevity at the highest level, stakes earnings and performance in the big races/grand circuit.
Ray Hadley calling.
Absolute Legend just before my time this bloke. But my family watched him race and they all said ppl used to cry at what this amazing horse did to his rivals.
That was fast. Pay day.146;9 wild
Great day's with all the Adios horses going around. Young Quinn deserved the win. But Paleface Adios was admirable in about 5th given the race and sat in the death all race.
Sheer toughness
Good field, bummer about Master Musician, nice run Bee Ber Cee.
What a disgraceful drive by Brian Hancock shunting Master Musician off the track because of his own poor judgement. Complete hack
The Bathurst Bulldog , Tough liittle Champion would carry the Horses of today like Pure Steel and grind them into the dirt ! A colonial Bred horse free of all the American Rubbish Blood of Today ! MICHAEL IN MELBOURNE 👍👍❤️
I think you'd of found Pure Steel would've ground every pacer into the ground
Yes, he was a pure champion but, so was Pure Steel- the iron horse. How can you say that ??
@@paulwilliams-or8hq, totally agree. The iron machine.
@@kathyrikkerink3858 Yes Completey agree with ! Was at MOONEE VALLEY sat outside. Rip Van Winkle and ground him into the track ! Poor Rip was never the same again ! Steelo with Teddy Demmler or Phil Coulson just always kept him coming ! Yes a IRON HORSE !! Much LOVED ! MICHAEL IN MELBOURNE 👍👍❤️
QUINN Was a Top Horse NZ ! These. Horses would be miles in front of the horses of Today ! The MIRACLE MILE OF TODAY IS A JOKE COMPARED ! MICHAEL IN MELBOURNE 👍❤️
I don't understand what The Miracle Mile is. Is it just an important race?
@@lynnehuff9659 Lynne The Miracle used to be a invitation race to the best horses in Australia and New Zealand Run at Harold Park in Sydney ! The best thing I suggest is look at past Miracle Miles at Harold Park and Not so much when It was moved to Menangle ! They were Champions who raced in this race in the past , All Colonial Bred ! Tough and Fast ! Yes Times Are Quicker at Menangle but the Tracks have got. faster but I feel the Quality of horse is No where near as the past Champion s that Raced in it ! It has Always been a Group 1 Race ! Cheers Michael In Melbourne Australia 👍👍🇦🇺
@@michaelmaguire8223 Michael, thanks so much for telling me! I will check them out, for sure. One thing that I think about when beholding these successful horses, is the training and handling that they must have received. It isn't just bloodlines and conformation that makes them great. I know people realize this, it's that I haven't been around it and I find it so interesting.
@@lynnehuff9659 Lyne is you are correct the older trainers unfortunately our now leaving us , The younger trainers and owners of Today want early returns on there investment these days which is so sad ! The miracle mire had both speedy horses and tough nut horses that would stay all day ! I will still say it’s was the Colonial Blood in these past champions that made them Special and I would argue they were a better class of Horse Today WHO are bred from American Blood lines and for Speed ! Look at Halwes ! Mount Eden ! Paleface Adios ! Hondo Grattan and Popular Alm all past winners and Champions of there Era ! Lynne you also got Massive crowds at the then called Trots in Sydney and Melbourne at our Showgrounds where Dad would take me and you were So close to These Champion Horses ! The old Trainer s had knowledge of how to train These Special Beautiful Horses WHO were tough as were there Horses ! I will still say it was the Bloodlines and were far much better than the horses now bred of American Blood ! Lynne please google those horses I have given you and please stay in touch as I can help you with all your Questions ! MICHAEL IN MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA
