A very helpful, well-done video, thanks
Is both legs at the same time recommended? Will he have a harder time recovering or about the same? The vet in Mexico wants to do both knees TPLO at the same time.
Our hospital only performs TPLOs on both legs for medium and small breed dogs. Not only is the surgery harder on the owner due to the nursing care and demands of helping these large dogs get in and out of the home to eliminate, there is also an increased risk of complications such as implant failure or even fractures if too much stress is placed on healing bones. By staging surgery and doing one leg at a time (particularly if one cruciate injury is acute, and the other leg is chronic), the dog can completely heal between surgeries. However, the answer to this question becomes complicated if a large breed dog ruptures both cruciates at the same time, and becomes completely immobile. Discussing the pros and cons with your veterinary surgeon is important.
Very informative, thank you so much!
What's this?
Oh my god a pill for everything ..too many pills killed my dog too many rounds of antibiotics ..steroids and many other meds
The lick sleeve is an amazing improvement over the cone collar. Absolutely worth it!
How can you do the 2 week follow up virtually when stitches need to be removed?
Is it normal to see redness on leg on 3rd day after surgery? Could it be bruising?? I see no oozing
Yes!
Tusind tusind tak 🙏🙏🙏
Roll call! After watching, please list your dog's name and the city and state or region / country in which you reside.
Vita and I are watching from Michigan, USA.
Is it common to see ups and downs during recovery? My 4 yr old Husky was walking the first day after and putting weight on the surgery leg for the first 8 days. (Of course he's confined, lots of meds, mostly sleeping, etc) Day 9 yesterday and day 10 today he's limping and even holding the leg up sometimes. 😕 I know it's a long road but I was just curious if anyone else saw improvement then worsening and then improvement?
I hope that your dog just had a temporary setback and went on to make a full recovery.
@@heidireuss-lamky3568 Yes he did thank you so much
I know your question is 8 months old right now. But everything you said, and the replies, help hundreds of people. People like me that are looking for information 4 days before the surgery date. I hope your Husky is doing good.
