Out of all the ambient sound videos I’ve tried to get to sleep, this one does the trick for me for some reason! I throw it on loop and I’m out for a good 7 hours. Maybe it’s the distant and rhythmic chug of the engines that do it! Anyway, thanks for posting these! They’re pretty cool and cozy!

This sound was created in Audacity using a 9hz tremolo to simulate the sound of a 3 bladed propeller spinning 3 times per second. It sounds almost like a helicopter and I can see why the vibrations from the wakes and resonance would have been a problem. During Lusitania’s sea trials it was found that these vibrations were so severe as to make the stern uninhabitable for passengers and crew. Hence the shipbuilders had to completely gut the second class areas they had just built, fit strengthening braces, and then put it all back together again!
