I saw this when it was first broadcast on two consecutive Sunday nights in November, 1979 right before Thanksgiving here. I was ten and the appearance of Barlow in Ned's jail cell in the second part scared me beyond words...to this day I vividly remember it. When I was in high school in the mid-80's this was often shown on local channels during the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday and always loved it. I have the Blu Ray and rewatch it every year at Halloween.

Great conversation, thank you for this. I only recently discovered this film and I really respect and love it. I found the Second Sight Blu Ray and have it now. A slow burn, but well crafted and everything is set up throughout the film for the absolutely horrifying and unpredictable ending. It repays many repeat viewings. I'd love the be able to contact Goldner and talk to him about it. I recommend this to everyone and, so far, they have all liked it as well.
