Great video ! Off topic but for pitching is siera or Xera is better to predict a pitcher performance next game ahead of?
This is a fantastic question! I personally like SIERA for prediction, largely because it’s based on batted ball ‘types’ (flyout, groundout and popout), rather than xERA’s ‘outcomes’ (hits, home runs, walks and strikeouts). I say this because if a player has suddenly started giving up a lot of fly ball contact but is getting lucky keeping them in the yard, it might show on SIERA but not so much in their xERA. (*Same type of comparison to FIP using home runs and xFIP using HR/fly ball rate - but just a little more complex!) I’d go as far as to say both SIERA and xERA can be used pretty interchangeably for prediction, however - and I generally like to look at both at the same time and compare how they align! (Sometimes the comparison is the best part!) *One thing that might be worth adding: if a player’s xFIP is pretty consistent, you’re likely pretty safe using xERA and SIERA interchangeably.

Using the foil from the top of the PB to spread was the move.
Just was at the Mallards this past summer. The pitcher would be under the party deck and the catcher was outside and he could never see. However, last year they moved it out of there and it was on the field down the lines for the first time.

Just to be clear, linear weights for each year may be effected by how often that event happens and how many runners are on at that time? Edit: And as well as outs during that event?
That is correct! The weights can change by year depending on frequency/result of situations - we could very well see some linear weight values change in 2023 based on shift restrictions!
@@thenightpitch Theoretically speaking, if singles were hit in more clutch situations that created more runs than doubles were in a season, could the linear weight of a single therefore be worth more than a double for that season?
This is an amazing question, haha I love it! I guess, theoretically, yes that could happen! The ‘run value’ would then supersede the double in that case - and I suppose if a huge amount of bases-loaded walks happened, walks could jump singles too! I wonder how much it would ‘actually’ take for this to ever have a chance to happen, haha.
