Earthen Opus

Приєднався 7 кві 2021
Earthen Opus seeks to explore the inner workings of the creative process through art, literature,
storytelling, and the spoken word.
Once upon a time, something in my peripheral vision distracted me, strange reflections in my reading glasses.
It was then I began to think about the “evens”, those strange and mysterious liminal spaces.
It’s in those spaces that the “shadows” dwell and move and have their being.
Dawn, dusk....crossroads at night, graveyards, places where the waters inhabit, mirrors,
reflections, echoes, lonely and dusty roads, ruins....each of these, an “in-between”.
Art itself is a place of liminality, between seeing and “seeing”, and it is within the practice of this discipline
that one begins to realize that there is more than one way to use one's sight, and there is more than one
kind of sight.
These are the places that embody the mysteries of our glorious and magical world.
These are the places I attempt to explore.

Enki and the world order
This composition, known as "Enki and the World Order" has been referred to as one of the most complex of the mythical Sumerian narratives.
Enki, the Sumerian God of the Sweet Fertilising Waters of the Deep, of Crafts, Magick and Wisdom is the son of Anu, Lord of the heavens, and Nammu, mother goddess of the Primeval Waters.
Enki is one of the most important Mesopotamian gods, who was later known by the Babylonians and Assyrians as Ea.
This poetic narrative contains a large amount of "lacunae", which are blank spaces in the text due to damage done to the artifact over time, therefore I have taken the liberty to "fill in", or paraphrase these in order to keep a sense of continuity and flow in the reading.
Some questionable words I have replaced with more "refined" ones in order not awaken the ire and wrath of the YT algorithm.

The prayer of Ashurbanipal to Shammash
Переглядів 565 місяців тому
This text is a hymn of praise to the god Shamash, to which has been appended with a prayer for the well-being of Ashurbanipal, king of Assyria. This composition contains a feature in its final lines; a blessing is pronounced on whoever makes proper use of the piece....a corresponding curse is added for any misuse. This aspect is unusual for hymns and prayers of the era, but can be seen as remin...

The Homeric Hymns Translation by J. Edgar, 1891 The Homeric Hymns are a collection of original preludes and Epic lays recited by the Homeric Rhapsodists. They are not the work of any one author or age. It is improbable that any one of them was composed earlier than the first Olympiad-B.C. 776. The great majority belong to the period between B.C. 700 and B.C. 450. Illustration of baby Hermes lea...

This translation of the elemental prayers is the same that is used in the Golden Dawn rituals and most likely was translated by S.L. "MacGregor" Mathers. An alternate version can be found in Waites's version of Dogme et Rituel. It appears, that in part, these may predate Levi, and may be found in the likes of Comte de Gabalis as well as the Grimoirium Verum, both most likely dating to around th...

Nice one
Thanks for watching
Why isnt this in latin
Because the reading I have done here is taken verbatim from Thomas Taylors translation.
And I do the same hymns to the planets as well as the elemental prayers too Nice to meet you
Wondeful! They are a great daily/weekly part of practice. So nice to meet you as well!
This is pretty cool cuz I must have read this out loud many times but never heard anyone actually speak it out loud like this Hearing another human being say this prayer adds a whole dynamic to it 🎉🎉🎉🎉 🙏
I really appreciate your comment! Thank you!
ZEUS not jupiter
The reading (including the title) is verbatim of Thomas Taylors translation (the translation was approved by the Committee For The Greek Religion), I made no changes, so you'll have to take that up with him, though he may be a little difficult to make contact with.
