I went through all the usual procedures. Finally I decided to use a powerful air blower, the sort that is used to clean PC filters (these are better then cans of compressed air). I blow through all the holes on the body so that the air went from the inside out (in other blow into the front end of the body). Most usefully, I did the same with the air filter which I have always washed in the way instructed - blow into the open end of the filter so the dust blows out from the outside of it. Amazingly dust came out of this clean looking air filter. Installed it and the 'Blocked Light' went off and the machine worked as it should. Repeated and there was more dust on the outside of the filter. To me this looks a better way of cleaning the filter then washing but the downside is of course that dust will fly everywhere.

One solution is to put a filter against the condenser. You can buy filters for other tumble dryers which can be cut to size. Search for `Beko Tumble Dryer Evaporator Filter Sponge` on google for example.
