Vaughn & Kobie
Australia
Приєднався 22 лют 2022
Our little family consists of Vaughn, Kobie and Fish (our Kelpie X). We quit our day jobs in August 2021, in pursuit of a more nomadic lifestyle - and also due to the fact Kobie's family is in Victoria and Vaughn's family is in WA.
We run a small business on the road called Troopy Gear, which focuses on supporting fellow small businesses: Thorburn & Sons, Surquip, Dusty Decals and Sophie Fletcher Designs.
We pick up work as we travel as well, helping our Aussie farmers during harvest periods (usually November-December). We drive headers and chasers mainly harvesting wheat, oats and barley, and absolutely love it.
We have built our own Tiny House which we live out of, and tour around the country with our Troopy and Prado.

Australian Sorghum Harvest 2023 QLD
Sorghum Harvest at Coolibah Plains near Emerald QLD. Late April through to May 2023.
This was the first time we had seen Sorghum, and the first mid year harvest we had done (usually we only work November/December). Mid year harvest in Australia is rife in Queensland and the Sorghum we have picked up is largely export (China for alcohol) or cattle feed for local markets.
Some of what was harvested was trucked to Goonoo Feedlot and the Port at Gladstone QLD for export to China.
Coolibah Plains is a 20,000 acre broad acre cropping operation, growing wheat and Sorghum in Central Queensland on black soil country. We worked here for 8 months from late April through to mid November, leaving just before the wet season/Summer hit.

Supplying local and foreign markets wheat is a backbone to the aussie economy. This year we were lucky enough to use the newest machinery and the latest in GPS technology. We consider ourselves lucky to have had th...

Tiny House Tour with DIY elevating bed!
Awesome !
I never realized how much work goes into farming Respect
many years ago i was out of huges a rail siding and we used to find blowholes, where the ground collapsed into big caverns, we used to lower ourselves down on rope and explore the huge networked linked caves, was amazing what we saw down there, even rivers actually flowing, top memories,
That sounds amazing!
If ya had've parked closer to cliff, you could of woken up to a great view!
Would you dare camp here?
TOO HANDS BOI!
How bloody good!
Love some high country action!
Happy Birthday 🍀♥️
😂❤
Çok şirin ❤
Бедняжка,он мамкино тепло хочет,заботу и теплую сиську
Wow ! Big Machine
I know you were always on private roads, but you guys need to remember to belt up. 🤐🤫
We always do when we need to! Feels weird to not wear a seatbelt
Damm the cars are awsome love the troopys mate 👍
We love them too they are great!
I never knew Australia had agricultural crops
Australia was built on cropping and farming!
@@vaughnandkobie me and a chemical rep were sitting in duck blinds 2 days ago and he was telling me bout the wheat in Australia,,,lol I never knew
Haha! Sometimes it's hard to know what goes on all over the world!
what did you actually think we did in Australia?
Some people are intellectually disabled.
Amazing
you guys take a 17 year old for harvest 2024
We are workers ourselves! You would have to apply! Farmers would give anyone a go that is willing to have a try
@@vaughnandkobiewhere do I find such farms? Ive done a (small) wheat harvest in South-Africa in 2022, but would like to go to australia to harvest this season.
This farm is in central Queensland. NSW and Victoria also have big farms too
@@vaughnandkobie do you know any farms that are looking for drivers with the 2024 harvest?
Unfortunately not but there are Facebook groups you can post on to find work. Harvest jobs Australia is a good start!
Nice gob helo from israel😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've enjoyed this series... need to catch up when possible
ayoooo!
Big Dillon!
Great watch as always guys … wish it was me behind the wheel shouldn’t be long till I return to WA 👌🏼
Great video, very beautifull, congrats, so amazing the areas you crop, I'm a farmer in France we grow wheat with high yields on very small farms compared to Australia, I'm alone on 70 ha😀 so different system and scale
It sure is! We had a guy join us from Sweden and it was interesting to get an insight into farming in the EU! Very different
Nice video, well done. Watching from Canada !!
Awesome series!
Thanks Darren! Glad you could join us for a boy of it!
You are working no till, right? Whats your crop rotation?
These guys run heaps of ploughs over their fields when fertilising and deep ripping when required. Its black soil country so its a bit different out there. They alternate fields between Sorghum and wheat. They do get rested every few years too
why do you care.
Great video
I am from India I have harvesters and tractors in my home country and I have experience about 15-16 years I love machinery I have done B-tech in mechanical engineering I want to know about wheat farming is good for earning in perth wa I want to buy a land 500-1000 acres is good for starting what is the price of wheat in Australia Give me details please Thanks
That's a hard question to answer! It depends on the season and how much rain you get. On a good year depending on rainfall you might get 3t per hectare and wheat prices also vary depending on demand but might get $400A per tonne if it's going really good
Hello
I spent 3 months harvesting with Brian and Mark Spink from Goondiwindi in 2003 , we started harvesting west of Goondiwindi on the farms of Tom Woods , Billa Billa and Mount Carmel , big farms and moved south gradually over the next few months ending up in Victoria , it was amazing experience for a young Irish man coming from a small dairy farm , I wonder if Brian and Mark still harvest grain? they are from Goondiwindi, would be in there sixties now I think
3 months is a decent amount of harvesting time! I'm sure they're still out there somewhere and you probably can't get them off the harvest!
Would give anything forca chance to participate in harvest there one time. Retired farmer from US in philippines now. Miss the harvest grew up on a combine starting at 6 years old now 76 missing it.
I don’t think it would be too hard! You could always come and ask to sit in on a farm, I’m sure there would be someone that wouldn’t mind a chat while doing some laps around the paddock!
@@vaughnandkobie I don't want to sit on the paddock want to get into the harvest run a combine grain cart or semi done it all and still can. Only reason I retired do to wifes health needing 24 7 care.
Fabulous Video, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey guys Did you fit the turbo to the 1hz or do you have the fte? If you went down 1hz path how are you finding it with the turbo strapped on yee old tractor, cheers guys
Hey Harry! We are lucky enough to have an fte! The guys that we've spoken to that turbo the hz have had pretty good experiences even with small amounts of boost. If I were to be in that position I think I would get it done
@@vaughnandkobie you lucky buggers , I’ve been searching daily for a clean , well priced fte but they are rare .. in fact finding a clean 78 troop without rust is rare full stop 🤦🏼♂️ great looking build guys and well done on your adventures, nothing beats it 👍🏼
Thanks Harry we feel extremely lucky to have got it! we look after him very well! @@harryridley2714
The Dargo Hotel was amazing last time I was there (almost a decade ago now)
Sounds like you might have to go back for a visit!
Pls come home so we can go up bush again hehe.
What's the most inconvenient thing that has happened to you on the tracks?
So bummed I couldn't stick around for rest of the trip! Looked awesome
Yeah it was a shame you had to take off! But all good, will have to plan some more high country trips 😁
❤
Aaahhh no place like home😍 vic high country hehe
Great work on the vid. Loved the editing. Keep posting guy's. Hope to catch up again soon.
Thanks Matt! im trying to get through them with work and all, will hopefully have a few coming out in the coming weeks!!
Not sure if they all qualify as High Country, but I do like Noojee, Dargo and Buchan. (P.S. Is this the first of your videos to include a V/O (at the 1:50 mark)?
Hard to say where it starts and ends! I think they count I'm my eyes! Close with the voice over, I think it's our second! The last of the Tassie adventure was our first I think
The shot from 0:31-0:52 is epic
Wow you guys, what amazing country and views 👌
Inland Queensland has so many hidden and not so hidden gems! Can't wait for you to come exploring 🥹
Beautiful
Watching this after an Easter weekend which, like Kobie on the boat, didn't quite go to plan...
She didn't have a very good time! Took a fair while to recover. Hope you're all recovered!!
@@vaughnandkobie We have, thank you
great vid guy's
Thankyou 🥰
😂😂😂 you really are the only girl I know who adits on UA-cam when you laugh and fart at the same time 😂😂 I loved watching the whole trip you guys, it looks like you had an amazing time. Thanks for the vids.
Hahaha got to keep it honest right 😆😆
This was just what I needed to relax after a long day at work. I did Port Arthur at night in 2009... that was something else. The teaser for the next video was great too
Good to hear! Oh wow that definitely would have been a bit creepy to say the least..
@@vaughnandkobie It was. The way the tour guide behaved didn’t help.
You two just keep on delivering (sorry I'm a bit late with this one - been busy with various things)
Thanks mate, glad you're enjoying them! I've been having a blast editing the last few!
Quality 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
