Priceless I always admired the character acting done by both men down thru the years A bone to pick with the late Ben John s comment on One Eyed Jacks and Marlon Brando The work turned in by Brando and the complete perfection turned in by every single character actor in the film perfection Brando was the director who demanded the breath taking performances done by each actor I think that this was Ben Johnson s best work by far and Brando drove him to it Brando did Ben Johnson a favor and Jonson and Jonson will never forgive him for it RIP

Ben Johnson’s devoted wife had just passed away in 1994 before this interview. You can see that Ben Johnson lost some of his joy and smile. I read his biography and he took her passing very hard. He kept really busy to ward off the grief and passed a year after this interview in 1996.

Ben Johnson had the deadliest eyes in movie history. There's someone you wouldn't want to cross. What a nice guy when he was interviewed and not in character. They lived through incredible days, which we will not see again.

I love Ben Johnson he’s skilled and handsome and a good God fearing person. Ide rate him as a favorite of mine, like John Wayne. We are blessed with all of his movies & his Christian choice not to say foul language. May God bless him and his memory. After I heard Ben Johnson announce the name of the movie, “Wagon Master -1950 - I went to Prime Video and paid for streaming of that movie on a purchase price so I could watch them. So far I love it, to watch Ben Johnson, when he was just about 25years old? Great viewing! Our Lord has blessed us all .

Harry (DOBE) was my frined for over 40 years he was a good man. Went on set with him couple times. He had Ben Johnson come to his house with me there, I know I was set up. But I didn't care to0 have my favorite two people there was something else. Had chance to be extra in Mask and Tombstone and I turned it down. Harry never understood it I told him I was camera shy. I regret the Tomstone set though. When Ben and Dobe passed away it was very said for me We not onjly lost 2 great actors, I lost two good friends

I loved watching these great actors. I knew Dobe, and his family. His mother was Ollie Carey my good friend. She was my neighbor. She played the part of Mrs. Jorgenson on the movie "The Searchers". We would get together and plan parties and I was very fortunate to meet many of her friends who were well known. I met Ben Johnson and his wife at one of the parties. I felt very privileged to meet such a fine horseman and actor.

This was so wonderfully funny and inspiring! I just love Ben and Dobe. Great interview and such low-key humor. Wow. Thanks for sharing this. My must-see movie list just got longer! I wish someone had asked them about playing the "horse traders" from Wagon Master again in Rio Grande---Sandy and Travis. I'm so curious about which part of their story came first? Did they join the Cavalry AFTER they escorted the Mormons (which would mean they apparently didn't marry the cute gals they were smitten with in Wagon Master) or before (if so, it meant they were trading/stealing horses before WM and Travis was somehow embroiled killing someone). Anybody know the chronology? Thanks again.

Back in 1988, I was in my mid thirties and living and working in the Monterey/Carmel area. During that fall I had booked reservations at a ranch north of Chico CA for a weekend of quail hunting. My buddy canceled at the last minute. The next morning as I was by myself, the owner of the ranch asked me if I didn't mind being paired with an "older" hunter. This is how I spent a delightful weekend with someone I had grown respecting and admiring. Ben was twice my age but acted young, full of energy and humor. Great memories

I came across this by accident. I'm sitting on the balcony of my seniors apartment with my coffee and laughing until the tears come. I'm sure my neighbours will think I've lost it finally. Two great gentlemen with great stories that took me back to my own upbringing. We worked hard but we laughed a lot and oh, the tricks we pulled on each other. I went from horseback to hot rods to flying planes and met great people along the way who never forgot to have fun along their journey.

Ben and Harry Jr. Seemed like some good fellas. Also i like Ward Bond who in the Movie called " The Quiet Man" with John Wayne. He played the part of the Irish Priest . I loved the westerns alot, but that Movie has to be in my top 5 all time. (Sorry i went off topic) , well never see the character of actors and actresses as they had in these times. Not to say anything bad about the ones who act today, just different times i Guess

These guys have made up much of the lives of most of the men in this country. The lack of influence of men like these can be seen in the protests taking place now and the last few years. Sissy boys if you ask me. I’ll just say thanks to these fellows, John Wayne and others who helped raise a lot of us.
