Brief notes 🌱 Heartwork class 15: - The more you lie, eventually you won’t be able to identify the truth even within yourself Why lying is so dangerous: - Lying is pervasive, people think by lying they won’t be able to succeed - forgetting that success is with Allah - we cannot disobey Allah in hopes to succeed - The believer can be many things - a person who struggles with many mental, emotional problems or other issues in their lives but the prophet Mohammed ‎ﷺ said a believer cannot be a liar - The Prophet Mohammed ‎ﷺ was known for his honesty - Lying destroys relationships, trust is a fundamental principle in a relationship and it’s hard to build after it’s been broken - One who constantly lies has no ethical standards - lying Centers you as a person and not Allah - A hypocrite is a person that is actually living a lie - When you become a liar the imaan within you begins to run away - You get to know someone based on how they treat other people ( the people who work at customer service, the cashier etc) - Everyone can be impressive from far away but it all comes down to who you’re really are - Oh Allah do not allow people to become disappointed in us as they come to know us better - When a person becomes a liar they’ll even further that in other aspects of their lives too - they’ll begin to commit other sins too - When you know someone is lying try changing the topic and don’t be the one that instigates or makes them lie even more What we should do - if you want to see yourself growing towards Allah be the person that is constantly grateful to Allah not only when things are good - Gratitude makes things more valuable and ingratitude will make even the most valuable possession completely worthless - Gratitude for your friends, family, spouse, children etc - When good things happen be grateful- when bad things happen be grateful because at least that bad thing is happening here than on judgement day - when your obedient to Allah thank Him for giving you the ability to be obedient to Him eg: thank Him for giving you the ability to pray because many will go to bed without praying - when you sin be grateful that you had the opportunity the repent because many have died without repenting - The more we thank Allah the more Allah will increase - A person who’s grateful will be able to give more in charity and a person who’s ungrateful will be stingy because they want to keep their money and always want more and more - It’s easy to be grateful once but we need to be consistent in being grateful

It’s a valuable lesson to remember that if someone is vague or lying about a topic, we should simply move on to another topic without engaging in confrontation.

- advice is essential on the path back to Allah - always prefer the truth over yourself, being able to submit to the truth - otherwise no amount of advice given to you will sink in - Allahumma arinal haqqa haqqaw warzuqnat tiba’ah, wa arinal baatila baatilaw warzuqnaj tinaabah - Translation: O Allah! show us the truth as true, and inspire us to follow it. Show us falsehood as falsehood, and inspire us to abstain from it. - Even if you’re lacking in worship, still acknowledge the truth and try to make your way towards it - Many people will be in hell because of the small tiny sins we committed and we never consider them as sins. THE SMALL SINS WILL ADD UP - the prophet ‎ﷺ hated it when people told a lie

Notes 🌱 - don’t be a person that tells other what to do but don’t act on that themselves - Your Taqwa is what dictates how special you’re to Allah - Be sincere with Allah and His messenger ‎ﷺ - Give sincere advice and take sincere advice - Asking for advice before making a decision is encouraged by Allah but don’t take advice from everyone, you need to seek it from trustworthy people from people who fear Allah and make Allah their priority not from someone who loves me because they perhaps might ignore your flaws out of their love for - If you seek advice from people who pull you away from Allah then the advice they’ll give you is going to pull you further away from Allah - good advice only comes from places that are uncomfortable - Am I trying to get better? Is something you need to ask yourself before you ask for advice - you have to commit and humble yourself to the advice they’re going to give you no matter how painful it it - You need to be ready to receive honest advice When you receive advice consider these things : A. It’s because they love you and they want to see you get better - the way you act when you get advice is really who you are, do you get upset? Do you get arrogant thinking you’re above that advice B. Notes 🌱 - make sure that you’re growing but also make sure that you don’t undo all your hard work by falling into hypocrisy How to do that: 1. Be a person that sits with those who are morally intelligent/ people who make moral decisions- the people who have Taqwa - for Muslims intelligence is when a person knows what will affect their relationship with Allah and they make decisions that will not hinder that relationship - make sure the core represents what’s on the outside - when you say you’re Muslim, that just a claim you’re making, How you prove that claim is how you lead your life. When it’s time to pray what do you do? Do you wake up for fajr? To you carry yourself in an honourable manner?? - In this life we can trick people but we will not be able to trick Allah - We all have friends that have incredible traits and we have to maintain those friendships, don’t turn them away because you feel self conscious- let that be a means to help you get better - The best friends to keep are the one whose presence remind you of Allah, the one whose speech reminds you of Allah, the one who’s actions remind you of the hereafter -- ask yourself constantly am I someone who’s presence reminds others of Allah, does my speech remind other of allah and do my actions remind people of the hereafter ? - “I wish I never knew you” a statement that will be uttered on judgement day 2. Humbling yourself to the truth - There are certain patterns and behaviours that we have and have been living with and we laterrealize that we’ve been living wrong - When you hear a commandment from Allah, don’t look for a ways out, don’t make excuses - The more your turn away from the truth, there will one day come a time when you’ll never be able to recognize it because you’ve been denying it and making excuses - When truth arrives at the heart of a person all arguments should stop, - It will be difficult, but the least we can do is atleast recognize the truth as the truth and try our best to work towards it
