      I don't see a helicopter shadow. You see the tail go from left to right, so it's definitely not a mammal. Dorsal fins can be seen very clearly. I encountered a great white when I went body boarding in a secluded beach in Big Sur California off a cliff. The shark had that same dark gray look that serenely coasts underneath you, slowly, checking you out. I managed to catch a wave just after the shark turned around and began circling me. They are out there and South Africa and Norther Cali are some of the worst places if you want to avoid those predators. I put the city of Recife (state of Pernambuco in Brazil) up there in that list too.

    I used to kayak in Tampa bay until the day I saw a dorsal fin stick over a foot out of the water. Hammerheads 14' in length have been reported in the area.

      I saw a HUGE one (20+ft) body boarding in a secluded beach off a cliff side in a Big Sur camping site. Never again do I venture deep in the waters of the red triangle in Northern California. I must have swim for 45 minutes before I reached the break where the waves were at and suddenly I am alone with the biggest predator I had ever seen. A wave broke just as the shark was circling me, and I took that wave (felt like forever) all the way to shore. Now I stick to the sandy beaches of Los Angeles when I surf. A lot safer.

  • @D3cyTH3r
    @D3cyTH3r 12 років тому

    But that's just not true- why do people keeps saying this?! -sharks will take a bite out of anything (proved endlessly by the vast array of objects found in their stomachs). It really pisses me off when people say that... "It mistook him for a seal" -if flies in the face of everything we know about large predatory animals (ie: if you're hungry and its smaller than you -eat it)... why the f**k do people keep trying to defend them?

    • @jeandar1
      @jeandar1 7 років тому

      There are some 500 spieces of sharks and only a handfull are potentially dangerous for humans. Not a single shark has humans as food source, that's a fact. Size matters, and if large great white/tiger or even a 4m mako wants to "check you out" in the water, it will use its mouth, pretty much the same way a seal does, no difference there. But the larger the sharks, the larger the bite wound and damge inflicted. On average only 10 people are killed by sharks per year, of all those millions of fishermen, freedivers, scuba divers, spearfisher men and ordinary swimmers who enter waters every day, where these potentially dangerous sharks are found. I myself am a freediver and scuba diver, have encountered various large spieces of sharks many times, and base my arguments on facts. Sharks are generally NOT dangerous for humans. (Humans on the other hand, are very dangerous for sharks, killing some 100 million sharks each year and destroying the eco-systems of our oceans..)
