The fast grown timber is lighter and more workable; without sacrificing much strength. It’s not a case of better or worse. The modern timber is more sustainable and more cost efficient.
Square edges IS planed all around. All four sides are planed; corners are square. You’re confusing with eased edges, which are rounded over.
That's going to cause more joint problems than it's worth. Go to gym, do the compoumds includimg the overhead press and get stronger than the work you do
How did you determine that, doc? Citations desperately needed. And going to the gym can't do a whole lot to reduce the likelihood of developing repetitive motion injuries over time. Reducing the force exerted in those motions can help significantly
