Hey Ron! I love your podcast and would love to invite you to my hunting preserve in Hebron Illinois!
Put a gsp on the thumbnails! Duh?
Love mingus
First like, first comment.
Noticed the curiosity from Ron about birdhunting on ski. This is a very common thing in norway. You should have a look. it's very common to see people training their bird dog in the skitrails.
New to bird dogs and got some good information from the discussion. Appreciated.
Thanks for watching and glad we could help!
I have seen Yogi and Mojo. Yogi is a phenom
Pointer powered fun- best high drive dog exercise rig ever- freedom to gooo under excellent steering and dog control- the rider steers the dogs- no commands needed- the dogs ADD stability to the scooter- you don't crash with this design- on or off road- even on urban sidewalks and or single track dirt trails- urban mushing perfected- even good for agro, deaf and blind dogs- d o g p o w e r e d s c o o t e r
We are getting a cocker pup from LegacyK in November and we are so excited! I have been looking for a breeder like her for a long time.

Dang it boys! I want a Bracco so bad my hair hurts. I'm always looking for Bracco info.
I love'm!
Hi
Great content!
Thank you for your support!
By shear luck I got my first PP from Bob. The dog was brilliant and as tough as they get. Passed too soon but I have another of his dogs. He is a great breeder.
The best ones are always gone too soon.
I lost one at 6 months old. It was tragic, but in return I was able to get another currently 10 months and doing fantastic in training.
Great podcast. I really enjoy these episodes that mix in the biology and ecology side along with the normal dog and hunting content. Especially when you have a guest like Mike that is so passionate and invested in his project.
Glad to hear that - thanks for commenting!
All episodes with Bob are GREAT!!
He's something else! We love talking with him
What a great interview series. I now look at dogs differently. I love how GSP show dogs are being bred for function and form. Hopefully it stays that way.
What a great video I got two of my labradors chocolate from Mary Holly out of Wisconsin. She had super tanker and a Lotti and I’ve got a stud out of those dogs and I got a female out of those dogs and I hunted for over 20 years with these dogs and I’ve hunted 103 days a year duck and goose hunting and dove hunting And Mary did the same thing that you do. Thank you. PS, my chocolate Labrador was the first hunting retriever champion in the state of Indiana
Thank you for sharing that also congrats!!
I’m sorry I didn’t tell you the name of her her kennel. Her kennel was candlewood kennels.
Remember helping Judy B train Hunter pass his navhda. Na test .it rained the day of the test i gave her my yellow rain suit to keep her dry . He did pass that day .wow its a flash back in time .
Sounds like some good memories
great video - thanks guys - helping me with training my first pudelpointer.
Glad to help - thanks for sharing!
Great video and thoughts on training and whether the UT makes sense for females today.
Thanks for commenting!
Cage, not crate. lets not get it mixed up, its a Cage. You are putting your dog in a cage because you are too lazy or don't have the time to teach it proper boundaries as a puppy. This is not normal in most of the world. It's considered cruel. If you cant teach a puppy not to mess up your stuff, you shouldn't have a dog.
We can always chat about that
Craig, SO well said! Llewellins are nothing special as setters go. Furthermore, why - when you already have a diminishing gene pool within a breed - would you put further restrictions on a breed's gene pool (*aside from the marketing a$pect😉)?
Wait...wait...when you say the Irish setter had to be reborn AND also had to have a 12 o'clock tail "like the setter and pointer..." In fact, the American setter and the American pointer owners strive for high tails. The ENGLISH setters/pointers seen today in all of Europe - not just Britain - do NOT have high tails. When the British/Europeans see pictures of our dogs, they often ask, "What happened to his/her tail?!?" One went as far as to say, "We would have to cull that high tailed dog." It isn't about beauty because - as you've often heard - it's in the eye of the beholder. It is nothing more than a trend for North American sportsmen to alter something to make it distinct - not better/more functional/ more utile. If you can sincerely, honestly, stand back and look at ANY North American pointing breed - for the most-part - they ALL point the same way, regardless of tail length, color, size, breed! It isn't like that outside of North America. An English pointer has the attributes, style, conformation of a pointer, which separates itself from an English setter, a Gordon, an Irish/Red, a Kurzhaar, a Drahthaar, a Brittany, a Weim, etc.etc. unlike here. For the record, many English setter breeders/trialers are going to Italian setter breeders because the Italians preserved the traditional setter. They did NOT alter the true English setter. Furthermore as Craig alluded, there are many fine English setter breeders in Italy today so, they have a robust gene pool.
As for "some" (not all) show dog breeders, you can easily identify their intent by the fact that they are allowed (by the various kennel club associations) to pursue Junior Hunter or Field Dog Junior certificates (sorry...they'll never be titles). Why do they do this? Truth be known, I could likely get a Siberian Husky to pass JH or FDJ. The real reason this is permitted is because it allows certain show breeders to dupe hunting dog buyers into thinking these show dogs are capable hunters. In fact, they might be incredibly amazing hunters BUT JH/FDJ are absolutely devoid of supporting even an entry level hunting/field aptitude. Finally, it permits these various associations to expand their revenue generating venues. In case you weren't already aware, the lion's share of these associations' revenue comes from the show community so....careful! I'm confident you've seen Crufts or Westminster on international TV? And the comparable field dog international TV show is.....hmmm....???
I got my GSP from another reputable breeder in Michigan. Checked the blood line and is a Legacy dog as his GG DAM. Couldn’t be happier with my boy.
Love to hear that - thanks for sharing
