Dusk Dive on the USS Spiegel Grove!

Rainbow Reef staff conducted a dusk dive on in of the premier wreck dives in the Florida Keys as a fun way to kick off the season and celebrate a manager’s birthday. Awesome time seeing the wreck in different lighting and seeing the transition as the natural light faded.

Quick run through of some interior areas. Visibility and current were challenging on the outside of the wreck this day, but luckily that’s not an issue on the inside!

Transit of first deck, working from starboard aft entrance to bow exit. Met a friendly goliath grouper just before turning onto "snoopy" passageway. Passed by carpentry shop, barbershop, galley, and crew mess areas.

Exploring a bit of the main deck. Upon entering from the starboard side of the well deck, transited through crew berthing areas, Chief Petty Officer berthing, and past the CPO mess before ascending to the first level.

Relaxing dive on the Cayman Salvage Master, a wreck off the coast of Key West, Florida. A slightly older and shallower wreck than the Vandenberg, she is often a great option when conditions are too challenging on the Vandy for an enjoyable dive.

At time 5:40, the 2 cell brig is at the bottom of that stairwell, I was never incarcerated there but I did serve on this ship in 78-79

What were you using for lighting and camera? Nice frog kick, saw it in the shadows.
Just a GoPro and a Princeton tech-have much better equipment these days!
