    Wow... this could be perfect for me. I'm currently in the process of changing careers. I wanted to work in tech but with all of the layoffs, it could be discouraging. I was studying for the RHCSA, and was planning to study for the Security+ next. However I ran into a claim's adjuster on a recent cruise I went on, and I was considering doing that once she mentioned that cybersecurity claims are also insurable. Now I am here. Is there a demand for this role still??

    • @CyberLifeTV
      @CyberLifeTV 5 місяців тому

      @@brownsense1 yes there is still demand. Most job titles will be listed as claims adjuster from what I’ve seen, but you can work cyber claims. Also, reach out to Cowbell insurance because I see a job opening on their website the day I’m writing this. Website is cowbell.insure/careers/open-positions It’s asking for claims experience, but maybe reach out to them and also look at adjusterpro.com for training because I think they have a course on claims software which is usually why companies ask for experience. Pay wise it’s probably similar to an entry level soc analyst to start. All of the above is assuming you live in the US. If you live outside the US you’ll need to look at insurance companies in your area.

Just explain how your past skills fit in the role and how you’re currently working on the claims adjuster license because you have a passion for helping organizations be more secure. If you wait to contact them then someone else will get the job so contact them. Worst they is no or to reach back out when you pass the licensing exam.

    Hey Ken, thanks for this great video and also for the other videos. I am following your guidelines and hopefully would get something. I will update somewhere, or here if I get any success. Regardless of that, I am thankful to you. P.S. Two small question: 1- You mentioned that don't put location on resume, but I am living in Europe, and I think its better for me (as an international) student that I live here (have visa/work-permit); So, is it hard rule to skip location? 2- I am adding a picture too, as it's professional; What do you think of including it on my resume? B.R

    • @CyberLifeTV
      @CyberLifeTV 5 місяців тому

      @@syedibrahimkhalil786 not a hard rule to skip putting location. My advice is based on the US market, but much of the information applies to EU. For your second question, if people normally put a picture with their resume and it works to get interviews then it’s fine to do. Here in the U.S. many employers screen resumes and a picture might alter formatting which can cause your resume to be rejected.

    • @syedibrahimkhalil786
      @syedibrahimkhalil786 5 місяців тому

      @@CyberLifeTV What a fast reply! I am so grateful. I will make a 50/50 rule then, sending half with picture and half without. And maybe similar with location. So somewhere the success probability would lie 😉 P.S. In Europe, its a mixed situation and dilemma, some get a job with picture and also some without, there's no certainty nor any survey or stats. But surely this "alter the formatting" is something to be taken care of - at least LinkedIn has a picture. BTW, I have also removed hyperlinks from my resume, hopefully this was the right move.

    The phrase "Don't be weak" should not be perceived as an insult, being weak is the situation your are in and can avoid to be in.

    So would you say a SOC Analyst should be our first job?

      Yes, you wouldn’t go from working another non-cybersecurity job straight into threat intelligence. Most people start as a SOC Analyst, Cybersecurity Analyst, or Cybersecurity Engineer and then after a few years move into threat intel. You’ll be involved in threat intel in those roles, especially as you work your way up.

      @@CyberLifeTV Thank you for your response. I thought SOC was more advanced. How can I learn more about SOC on your channel. Do you have a course?

      @@RS-nc5qx I don’t have any courses right now. I would suggest checking out John Hammond or the Cyber Mentor UA-cam channels. They might have entry level SIEM videos for free. Security Blue Team is another place to look. I think their website still has some of their training for free.
