I used it for about 3years.. I could use it for an other year or two. The wool was still in sort of good condition. I could’ve just put an layer of coating but I decided to use the wool I’ve had lying around for years😅.

In my honest opinion, go for the gas one. That will melt copper and brass waaaay quicker. An electric furnace is good, but when the coils are bust, you’ll need to replace them/buy new furnace. You can find refactory cement almost everywhere on the internet 😉. I have both but I always use my gas furnaces😅

@@SJWCASTING Alright thank you. Apparently they don't give out refractory cement anymore when they send it to you so I may not use it (It's hard to find online and expensive, also not super necessary) but I think I have to purchase a different regulator as gas bottles are different in Australia.

@FireTrye no problem. On Amazon you could find some. I use it so the fibers of the Kaowool don’t end up in my lungs😉. That way the isolation is protected and that the main reason I use it😉. That can be possible, but you can purchase that in every hardware store I think 😉.

Lead is a fairly simple material to work with. You can cast some detailed pieces with it. But not with a melting pot 😅.

Lead is pretty easy to melt over a campfire. The issue is finding it, whatever industry could go away from lead has or is going away from it, at least where I live Fishihg wise the big heavy bottom feeder sinkers are sold in both lead and steel, it's just the small balls that you put directly on the line for float fishing. And you'd have to go diving in rivers where there are a lot of weeds, tree branches, rree roots and all kinds of... trash to put it lightly. My friend fished out a whole lamb's hide for example Pipes are PVC and have been for a while so old lead pipes are hard to find Wheel weights are pretty much all steel so you can't bring home a bucket of lead from the mechanic. You can bring home a bucket of weights but good luck fishing out a decent amount of lead, if any So far guns are pretty much the only industry where lead would be easy to come by from ranges. Would be, if I didn't live in a hellhole LARPing a country

A lot of old big buildings here still have the lead plumbing in it (not in use). A lot of places where you can fish, they banned lead fishing weights (so i was told). Lead from mechanic.., yeah they take it to the scrapyard themselves 😅. So I’m glad I can do a lot of demolition jobs in old buildings. Those jobs have given me my whole stack😅. Well almost my whole stack..

As long if you get the moisture out, that’s fine😉. But I was struggling with the many holes in the ingots.. so I was trying different stuff. Where you got the vibrating plate from? I’m looking to get/make something like that.

@KrskenCasting, find a local range and collect spent bullets. You will have some processing to do, but that lead is about the purest once you are finished.
