The funny thing is that Niklaus isn't a viking name at all, it's a very christian name of ancient Greek origins, most commonly known as a name carried by St Nicolaus, or Santa Claus. Michael is the name of a biblical archangel in the abrahamic mythology, so not a very viking name either. Rebeccah is a hebrew name, also appearing in the bible. Elijah is the name of an old testament prophet, again not a name for a viking. Kol and Finn are the only names that might have been plausible for a viking family. (Freya didn't exist until the series Originals and at least she's named after a viking vanir goddess, and Esther is a name of Persian origins). I really wish people who make these sorts of shows and/or books had actually read their history.

I think the worst thing this show did was this whole "vampires can be good" thing. They eat people and they are monsters, and from a human point of view they are always a threat, especially considering how they can lose control if they get hungry enough. It's ok if some of the characters in the show delude themselves into thinking that good vampires are a thing, but when the show itself devolves into that it pretty much loses all suspension of disbelief. They should've instead kept with embracing the vampires are bad even if they try to be good thing they had going on in the beginning with the whole stefan ripper storyline, and I think they resolved (or more accurately just forgot and pretended it didn't exist) that tension way too easily. I think the Originals, despite in my opinion being an overall inferior show, did a lot better in this particular area, constantly hammering home the fact that Elijah is an evil bloodthirsty monster despite his honor. It's a lot more interesting dichotomy anyway, as it works both ways, for not only does it show that honor and compassion do not change a vampire from being an evil monster, but it also shows that even an evil monster can have compassion and honor.

Even though Jake did kill Sam last episode I still felt bad for him. He and all of the other psychic kids are all victims. Even Ava said she had to flip that switch to defend herself before she completely gave into evil.

Excellent! Yellow-eyes is a very creepy character and well acted. I did not see this playing out this way at all and was fascinated and loved every minute! I loved having Papa W involved as well. If I remember correctly we still had to wait a few weeks before knowing if we were going to get a season three. This episode really brought the emotions.

The originals is to me feels more mature in nature. 2 of my favorite female characters are in this show and of course the og brothers. More witches and stuff. It actually feels like factions are in this world. The vampires, the humans the werewolves and the witches.

I'm one of those people that don't think TO is in any way better than TVD. Perhaps because I am not a fan of the originals in general. I was glad they got their own show so they could leave TVD alone. :)

Ok I know the general public says this is when TWD went downhill but that is a boldface LIE!! This was peak TWD for me, Negan coming into the show completely changed everything. JDM definitely carried a couple of seasons in my opinion! Phenomenal acting from everyone here, Andrew Lincoln was EXCEPTIONAL.

I don't get where Caroline gets to act all judgemental about Elena choosing Demon when she chose to date Tyler who was an ass, dick, attempted rape, slept with matts sister and mother and now she is clearly attracted to Klaus. I don't even want to talk about Klaus, I think he has done for worse than Damon any day.

I also thought at first that Elena didn't need to stake Rebecca but then it occured to me that the last time she chose to believe an original sibling that they will stake their brother it was Elijah and we all know how that turned out. Jenna ended up dying. I also believe that rebecca wouldn't have followed through with her promise.

The most horrific television I have ever watched. Negan is terrifying. I cannot look at Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Papa W) the same after seeing that. A few years after this aired I did go as Negan for Halloween. The "lucille copy' still hangs in my house, for protection right? Great reaction/review.

You absolutely have to see the originals, it's better than TVD in my opinion, the evolution of the characters and the writing are fantastic.

All of those episodes with the psychics that were planted all throughout the season were all leading up to this moment. It was too much of a huge plot point for it not to go anywhere.

I still go so excited with these earlier season episodes, and this one is a top favorite. I loved seeing Andy & Ava's return and was surprised with Ava's direction. I was not happy with Jake of course but I still fell in love with the actor (Aldis Hodge) and think he was a great addition to the cast. The music was good, always good to see Bobby, so sad about Ash and the ending was horrible and shocking. Keep in my when this originally aired we did not know if we were getting a season 3 I was always prepared that the finales might just be the shows endings. I could tell you really liked this one. I also really felt the yellow eyed demon was a well done character as well.

One of my absolute favorites! So emotional and well acted. I loved the humor thrown in as well. The bits about mama & papa were great and I liked the shadow of the pilot scene with Sam & Deans break in fight. An interesting monster to explore too. Enjoyed watching you unravel the mystery.
