Greg's Bike Rides
United States
Приєднався 14 кві 2017
Greg's Mountain Bike Rides around Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas and Colorado. Get to see some trails in the Central and Southwest States!
Will upload videos so those who rode with me can see and show their friends. Also so those curious about specific trails in our area can see what they are like. I will try to upload them in sections (red trail, North trail, etc) so the videos are not too long and you can pick the one you like. You will be able to find most of them on Single Tracks or MTB Projects apps or web sites.

Bluff Creek, Oklahoma City - SW Side on Stumpy
Rode the SW trail system on Bluff Creek trail system in Oklahoma City on my Stumpjumper. As my eBike was in the shop, I thought I would go unassisted! Course, being very humid and my being old, it was ridden at a pretty slow speed. So, if you are looking for blazing speeds, this is not your video. But if you would like to see the trail and watch a few deer get scared up you can watch the whole thing.
It is a pretty nice trail and works well on a Stumpjumper with 27.5" wheels. I think I scared up the deer 4 times while going back and forth.

Mt Fitzgerald - Frontier Trail

According to Trailforks, this is a Blue rated trail. At the trailhead the post shows it to be a Black. After riding it for a bit, I will go with the Black designation! Was a rocky challenge. The climb up at the start was pretty aggressive as well, and I was on an eBike! Still, it was not terrible and presented an interesting challenge. I would ride it again, just to see if I could get past that...
Mt Fitzgerald - Headed Home Loop / Barking Iron Loop

Riding Mt Fitzgerald, coming back from Flowing Train & Broken Spoke loops on the Heading Home loop. Riding a Green rated trail back and discussing how Arkansas Greens are really Oklahoma Blues! We are communicating using the Milo Action Communicators. From there we head up to the Barking Iron jump line to finish off!
Mt Fitzgerald - Coyote Cave

The Coyote Cave loop on Mt Fitzgerald. It is a Black Diamond trail, sort of tame for Arkansas, but quite the adventure for Okies. Nice stopping point halfway down to look at the Coyote Cave. Not deep, but interesting. I think after a couple of runs to get over the nervous parts it would be a really fast, fun run.

These are the 3 loops from the ring at Mt Fitzgerald (follow the Heading Home trail from parking lot. It is mostly easy, flowing loops that are a lot of fun with an easy return loop to get on the next one!
Fayetteville Traverse 2 - Going North from Centennial Park
Переглядів 696 місяців тому
Went back to finish the Fayetteville Traverse, where it crosses the highway and heads East into town. We did not realize it, but they are doing some building on the far end and have cut off the trail. We backtracked and found where they had built a bypass (which was really STEEP!) and found our way out. Sadly, Annette crashed when her front wheel rolled a large rock and she went down. Wasn't to...
Centennial Park in Fayetteville, AR - Junk Drawer Loop
Переглядів 706 місяців тому
Last ride of the trip. Took Junk Drawer to the top and rather than go back via Fayetteville Traverse, decided to take Junk Drawer back down the fast way! But, since they still had all the stuff up from a race that morning, turned off it and returned via Traverse from the bottom. Is a fun, if rough run down.
Centennial Park in Fayetteville, AR - Learners Permit
Переглядів 1247 місяців тому
On our last afternoon in Fayetteville, Arkansas, we rode on the Centennial Park trails. This is the Learners Permit loop from the top. It is a green, but great for fast and flowy! They had races that morning, so a lot of the signage for it was still up. Ran across a young girl (I could tell by the pink socks from far away!), riding one of the sections. She lacked a little confidence in the berm...
Choo Choo / Moo Moo / Boo Boo and Rim Trail - Slaughterpen Trails in Bentonville, AR
Переглядів 3729 місяців тому
These trails are in the Slaughterpen system at Bentonville, AR. The first 3 (Choo Choo, Moo Moo and Boo Boo) all start at the top of a launch pad and with an eBike you can swiftly run around to the top again! The Rim Trail, is a rocky Blue that is not far from the first ones. Make sure your suspension is open and operating well!
Mighty Pine to Rabbit Hole to Ace of Spades, Bella Vista, AR
Переглядів 2549 місяців тому
This is in the Bella Vista trail system. Start the Mighty Pine connector from Blowing Springs. Take it to Rabbit Hole Loop. We went clockwise around to Sally trail, then onto Through the Looking Glass trail to top of hill and the start of Ace of Spades! Is a nice ride, nothing hard, but great (and changing) scenery with a few little challenges. Ace of Spades is, of course, great!
Jumps at Slaughterpen in Bentonville

Got to try out the new feature park at Slaughterpen in Bentonville, AR. I did not ride the pump track (maybe next time), but did enjoy the jump track very much! Had 3 nice jumps going from easy to medium hard - which is about my speed! I like that is small enough you can just loop it over and over till you gain some confidence and muscle memory. Couldn't help myself and gave a few noobs some ti...
Ace of Spades with Jason Leading

Quick ride down Ace of Spades in Bentonville area. Following Jason. I noticed the asphalt was powdering making the corners a little slick! Is a very fun run and will post the trip over to it next.
Arcadia - PostMaster Loop
Переглядів 819 місяців тому
Ran the Postmaster loop at Arcadia in Edmond, OK. Is a nice little run, up a slight grade. I was testing the Hero 10 with 3 windscreens on it (now that I found that 3rd mic on it!). Also ran Poster Child while I was at it. Is a very short warm up if you start at the parking lot by the water tower.
PostMortem at 30FPS with 3 Windscreens
Переглядів 639 місяців тому
Finally found that 3rd microphone on the Hero10 GoPro! Sounds a lot better with a windscreen on all of them. This video is just to see what the difference between 30fps and 24fps is on a regular video. I have one in low light, but plan on going back and doing it with sunshine like today on 24fps. I think it blurs it just enough to make it seem faster (since I rarely go over 15mph due to age and...
Arcadia - Post Mortem loop in Low Light
Переглядів 9810 місяців тому
Got a new GoPro Hero10 (after my Hero8 started having issues). Messing with the settings, and decided to shoot this one in low light with a high ISO setting. Sadly, it turned out a little grainy. Think I will set it lower and have the scenery smear a little more (makes it look faster anyway), but keep the color integrity. For those not familiar with this, is one of the loops near the water towe...

Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness - Ho Chi Trail - A seriously rocky challenge!
That’s cool! Speed and Altitude in the video.
Too bad all these palo duro videos are e-bikers
Well, if you want to see the pre-eBike videos, you have to roll back to before I got old! Go back about 5 years and there are a few of me on my Stumpjumper!
Ya gotta show the right hand switchback!
Maybe next time I am out that way!
I’m so going to go ride my Onewheel here looks so fun!
It is a fun trail system to ride!
We are also 1 hour from that park ,like to try a trail like that on my haro some day,we are camping out there next week.Hopeing to find an arrowhead. Awsome ride guys looked fun.
Enjoy the trip. Sadly they have not maintained the trails very well. A lot of the bike trails to the South are overgrown. But, should not affect hiking as much. Hope you find something!!
@gregsbikerides curious being an hour from there we are in Waynoka, you?
@@andyamysarizonaadventures5450 Down in El Reno. Used to live in Watonga, though. So am familiar with the park.
Love this POV angle, really shows all the little details and lines of the trail. Great channel man! Keep up the fine riding 🤙🏽
Dogs off leash is a pet peeve of mine.
Mine as well!
That thing is like a low powered dirt bike. Nice
Yeah, I got an eBike when I passed 60. Helps me go the distance. I am still going slower than when I was younger, but it helps me to go the distance! There will be a video of the West side stuff coming out Friday evening. Was taken during this same run.
Do I see horseshoe prints on the trail?
No, thankfully those were only shoe prints. No horses on this trail.
What are those spikey plants? We don't have those in Arkansas.
You should come ride Palo Duro and some western trails!!!!
You seem to be hugging the side of the trail near the lake. Why?
One, there is a serious drop on a muddy trail!! Two, I was trying to stay off the middle as much as possible so as not to leave muddy tracks in the middle! 😁
Got our tow rope yet?
Want me to tow you along those ledges?
I'm turning my head trying to help. How neat.
Hi, what device camera etc are you using to get the speed and altitude to show like that? Thank you
Am using a GoPro Hero 8 mounted on the bikes handlebars. I use the app GoPro Telemetry Extractor to pull all the telemetry off the GoPro mp4 files (since GoPro in their great wisdom do not have an app to pull their own metrics off!). Then you can use another app to pull it in. I use Virb Edit from Garmin as I used to have one. It is pretty basic, but then my videos are as well! Just want to show the trails and such a bit.
Class 1?
Yepper, Specialized Turbo Levo. I am from the flatlands of Oklahoma, so I run it in Eco here, and switch to Trail in Arkansas! 😉
Thanks for showing us the runs.
👍
I got up there then chickened out at Orville and just took sparky instead 😂 looks fun! I'll have to actually try it next time
There were a couple jumps on it I chickened out on! I prefer Sparky by far. Much more fun and fast moving!
Riding an e- bike? Really? That's sad
Well, when you are over 60 and come from the flatlands, they really help!
Hey, I was wondering where Outlaw creek is, I cant find it anywhere on a map or Trailforks. I'm from NC and am going on a trip to OKC, and hopefully going to ride some sick trails in OKC, and this trail looks epic, but I cant seem to find it anywhere on a map. I know its sorta private and I think you need to sign a weaver from what ive heard.
Yes, it is on private land. It is open on Tuesday, Friday and the weekend. Try this (I will take it down in a couple weeks) 35°34'03.0"N 97°45'06.6"W
Oh, and you might look at their Facebook page (don't use Facebook, so forget about it!) facebook.com/groups/293212170877823/
Hello...how beautiful it is recorded on camera.. which one is it?
I am using the GoPro Hero 8. I mount it on the handlebars.
Ebike?
Yah, once I passed 60 I went with eBikes. Helps on the hills and in the heat!! 😋
“I am not proficient at downhill” you were flying man! So far past proficient, lol!
Ah, but you notice I was flying on the curves and straightaways, I always slow significantly when I come to a jump. Not very confident at my age flying thru the air!! 😆
No e-bikes in red rocks
Nice work! Thanks for taking the time to put some comments in green. Do you think Spider Mountain is worth the drive down there? Did you ride at RPR too?
Yes, we did, twice. I plan on putting something together for those trails next few weeks. They were certainly a lot more work in the heat! Is pretty easy to get lost out there due to poor signage, but the place is huge! I thought it was worth the trip. I plan on going back in the winter, only this time I am taking a regular bike instead of an eBike! It was pretty heavy to put on the lift! Since you are only rolling downhill did not need it. It was very helpful riding all the rocks at Reveille Peak Ranch, though.
@@gregsbikerides I just did Angel Fire and took my emtb and it was heavy to put in the lift. But it’s the one I know how to hit jumps with, so I took it. I have been thinking about a winter trip to Spider/RPR.
@@emtbarkansas8138 You might find it pretty tame compared to Angel Fire. You notice how short the downhill runs are, they are not cut at all, it takes about 5 mins to hit the bottom, even going as slow as I am! I did like having the weight and balance of my eMTB. I am much more confident with it. Just getting too old to lift it so many times! I was with someone who did not like blacks, so was not able to video the one Black and Double Black.
@@gregsbikerides this year Angel Fire beat me up with braking bumps (massive potholes really) all over the place. I’m with you 100% on the e-bike. Like how it rides, heavy to throw up on a lift.
What bike you riding?
I am riding a Specialized Turbo Levo. I started riding an eMTB when I turned 60 a few years ago! It does keep it planted in the corners, though!
@@gregsbikerides I thought ebike as fast as you were climbing lol
@@twowheelsforlife - And climbing is where they really shine! 😁
@@gregsbikerides they are a blast for sure! Just not got one yet.
So is there a new "more groomed" trail parallel on the left? I remember some of those Ho Chi rocks. Been a while, but I need to get back and rid Turkey again!
Yes, there are several now. There is the Green trail and the new and improved Yellow trail. That is what I connected to just before closing the video. Up over the hill they have a new groomed one to the right as well. They have made many new trails that can be ridden at speed and have rolls and jumps! If you look at the Oklahoma Playlist you should see several from Turkey Mountain that are new.
I’ve really appreciated your videos on Turkey Mountain. Thanks for posting. Was out there yesterday evening and rode some of what you’ve shown. Your video on Wildcat helped me stay with the last big berm long enough to avoid the tree. “Wonder how many people have hit that tree,” went through my mind as I passed it.
😁 - Glad it helped. Save one more biker! They have another one there I have yet to ride. Will post it when I get over there. Just noticed it open last time I went.
@@gregsbikerides apparently in maybe 4-6 weeks they are opening several new downhill lines at the bottom area south of the lower parking lot. If you are able to ride and post those that would be awesome. Give us something to watch when we can’t make it out!
This must be a newer trail... didn't recognize it. Generally what part of the area is this one?
@@stevespidey1953 Yep, is only a year or so old. Take the new trail entrance going North out of the upper parking lot. You will spot it on the left as soon as you roll out.
is this on the east side of the powerlines?
looks like west after watching more. Signage is a work in progress out there these days.
It is West out of upper parking lot. Just go to the North of parking lot and take main trail entrance to the left. Then follow it on out and stay left at the Y. You will get there eventually!
Where is this?
Sorry, right in the description. Got it.
I’m in OKC and never been to turkey mountain. Please give me directions to where I can find this trail.
Wow, just saw this! Hope you found it already! Here is the directions on MTB Project: www.mtbproject.com/directory/8016199/turkey-mountain-park
Are some of you on eMTBs? Have wanted to do that route but not clear on it my heckler would be allowed as I’m not fing any clear ruling on them for this specific trail as I know part of the route allows them.
Actually, we are all on eMTBs! Unless you are young and fit, it is a pretty long ride on an unassisted bike. As you can see we are all a lot older! Technically, eBikes are not allowed on trails in Colorado, but when I asked at a local bike shop, they said currently everyone is in a sort of "don't ask, don't tell" mode. So, we figured we would risk it. What are they going to tell us, "get off the trail?" We don't go fast and we don't tear up the trail.
Looks like fun, Have been wanting to try Arcadia. Is this a fee area?
Yes and no. They have a fee box at the West trailhead, but while all the construction is going on they do not seem to be enforcing it right now. The parking at the dam is free. From the parking lot at the Dam you can go East, to where these trails are. If you go West, there is another whole section.
@@gregsbikerides Thank you
Awesome 👍👍
What app are you using that records your Speed and Altitude on the screen?
I record with a GoPro Hero8. However, since their software is useless, I use my old Virb Edit software (since I used to have a Garmin Virb camera). To get the telemetry off the Hero8 video I use an app called Telemetry Extractor Premium for GoPro. Be nice if GoPro ever made software as good as their hardware!!!
♥️♥️♥️👏👏👏

This looks awesome! Does this trail have a name yet? Going out there for the first time soon and Trailforks is a little confusing
Actually, the whole trail system is a little confusing! The ride I put up can be reached at the upper parking lot. It starts at the SE corner of lot. The have added some new stuff I only got to ride a little bit on the West side as well. It is still under construction. But, the best bet is park at the upper lot and ask a local! 😁
@@gregsbikerides awesome, thanks!

It is on private property, but open to the public. I believe they are open on Tuesdays and all weekend. I usually just show up!
is that an emtb?
Yep, I ride a Specialized Turbo Levo. Had it since I turned 60. A real help when you are older and don't get out that often!
