Sid reminds me of Belushi here and Imogene Coco I’m sure was one of Carol Burnett s big influences. Classic comedy. 20 years before I was born and still stands the test of time.

Heard about this on podcast. Ed O'Neil said John Belushi took this and made Samurai delicatessen.

I love that they felt audiences were familiar enough with higher-end foreign films (which generally were only exhibited in art-house theaters in major cities) to based these ambitious skits upon. These were always fun to see, a combination of sophisticated/experienced world-views mixed with charade and utter silliness. Nanette Fabray was no slacker in replacing (as if one even COULD do that) the slot previously occupied by Imogene Coca. There was never a lack of talent on the Caesar shows.

Who plays Carl Reiner's daught...er, I mean wife in this sketch? They all deserve credit for keeping straight faces throughout. Such wonderful timing at the parents' house!---all done live/no re-takes and edits.
