What causes one side to be longer or shorter than the other?

I have been doing it that way as well , but every 5 or y stitches I pull the thread tight so the stitches don't show on the front.. makes it s.oother tooo

I agree with you just catching a small amount on the EPP sewing after washing your quilt a good few times I find it does have a tendency for the stitches to open up a-bit , making a gap. Did you glue your paper in place or stitch ?I prefer to glue, as I find it easier that way to take the paper pieces out when finished.

I've been doing it this way, but without the tape. Thanks for the tape idea--it will be especially helpful when joining the first two pieces.

4:58 used the flat back method to make a cal king gfg quilt. Started with traditional sewing but found it unwieldy. Loved flat back and made each stitch secure with a knot. Took me 2 plus years.

How do you handle it when it gets huge? When do you start removing papers?

    • @kimwinterringer8635

Once the shape is connected on all sides. Leaving the papers in as long as possible is best in my opinion. It helps with stability. I’ve found it gets hard to handle with the papers in for the entire project. I eventually start taking them out to help with that issue. I hope this helps

What thread weight are you using? And is your thread doubled?
