In this episode, Dave and Sydney Clayton discuss the crucial role of prayer and fasting in church ministry, focusing on its impact on spiritual transformation and discipleship. This session, part of a breakout class, aims to provide practical insights for church communities.
Dave kicks off by expressing his enthusiasm for the session, highlighting the value of these more intimate, hands-on discussions. He explains that prayer and fasting are essential to discipleship, comparing them to the "tip of the spear" in disciple-making, essential for deep spiritual growth and transformation.
He shares his journey, starting with his early ministry in downtown Nashville, where he recognized the need to break through cultural Christianity. A vision from God, depicting prayer and fasting as an arrow piercing the hard soil of the city, became the foundation for his church’s focus on these practices over the past decade.
Sydney then leads the group in prayer, asking the Spirit to guide their discussion. She recalls a pivotal moment for their church when a quote from a prayer book emphasized the urgent need for prayer, sparking a transformation from a sermon-focused congregation to an active praying community.
Dave and Sydney talk about the challenges they faced in building a prayer-focused culture, noting that persistence and small, incremental steps made a difference over time. They began with brief prayer sessions during Sunday services and gradually introduced longer periods of prayer and fasting throughout the year. Now, their church regularly holds weekly prayer meetings, prayer fasts, all-night prayer sessions, and annual seasons of intensified prayer and fasting.
A key turning point in their journey was a trip to Africa, where they witnessed the power of corporate prayer and fasting, inspiring them to deeply embed these practices in their church community.

Helpful review. Thanks for posting. Sounds like Christopher believes in multiple gods throughout history (polytheism), without naming his beliefs as such.
hey there
I'm tired of the Sodom and Gamorha crap. Throughout history, with all the genocide and slavery this is what they think God would be mad about? They moan and groan about abortion despite how it basically happened in the Bible and wasn't condemned. They fall for these false stories about porn in schools and kids changing their gender. They whine and wet themselves when they see a kid with two parents of the same gender. And they say the world has gone crazy. They will take the Bible's word as black and white except when it comes to slavery. I feel like if it wasn't abolished in here, they wouldn't try to condemn it.
Amazing
Brothers, thanks so much for this season, it has been most excellent! Is there by chance a collection of the presentations that were shown on the screen throughout the series. I know several are in the book, but I also believe several are not. Again thanks! Be blessed!
100% people in our churches have been influenced by our worldly culture. We have to stay in the word, pray and ask God for wisdom to have prudent conversations regarding not only this subject, but all sin. We cannot think for a moment that what is happening in Canada will not happen in the US. Very scary. Great podcast! Keep the faith!
I think the peace treaty will be with Saudi Arabia but that's me.
End of tyms started when Joel prophecied long tym ago,the Bible says even the son himself duz not know that day, only God knows🎉
That’s the thing pastors are very wimpy and most in the church are Biblically illiterate. And lemmings
I left the ICOC in the US largely because the elders would not address the cultural issues entering the church. Any LGBTQ complaints were met with, “that’s a political issue” and the I’d get in trouble for bringing politics into the church. I can’t help that many church issues are Leftwing policies.
Thanks Guy for openly share about this important issue. I feel sad for the opression of speech that has come true in Canada. What a nightmare? When everything is hate speech, it must be hate speech to also say that someone is hateful. Keep up the courage.
Thank you guys for doing this! I just found this podcast and am finding it very helpful in my studies.
Thank you for this recap! We are about to restart with Sounds.
Trump took an oath to defend the Constitution and then tried to overthrow the government. How can anyone for Trump and at the same time think themselves to be patriotic? Would you vote for a Benedict Arnold wannabe if he told you he was pro-life? Trump is an atheist, an opportunist and a con man who has turned his Christian supporters into a cult.

Let no man deceive you by any means for that day shall not come except there be a falling away first and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. - 2 Thessalonians 2:3
Your enemy is not the society or religion or ideology, but THE DEVIL
The crux is always that people ignore the 2 spirits: God and the devil 😈 who are responsible for all this. If you only look at human beings, all you see is flesh. You don't see the spirits behind it

I am out.
Yt blocks cmmnts. PRETERISTS, HISTORISTS are taking away from the worst horror the world will see (Matthew 24:21), when the earth shakes to and fro like a drunkard (Isaiah 24:20), as the pit is opened (Revelation 9:2) and the locusts are released (Joel 2:25). John received the book of Revelation. Yet, he was told that he would be coming back at the end. Revelation 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy AGAIN before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. That revelation (given within the past 2 decades):
Transmutation system: Angel to human to locust. Genesis 1 is ELOHIM (Lucifer and the fallen angels). They made this realm. They made man in their image. (tares) Man is an idol, a trap to hunt angels. Genesis 2:7 the Lord God forms His representative in their system. (wheat) One Gospel: Gospel (GOOD ANGEL) of Reconciliation. Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself. We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness. If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever. Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods). REPENT FALLEN ANGELS.
I absolutely love this conversation, but I believe that there are not enough men being discipled in the Body of Christ to desire marriage. They are chasing skirts rather than chasing God heartedly.
I feel like you're saying there was no eminence because the destruction didn't happen for another 30 years but you are looking back and not forward. The destruction could have happened sooner IF Jesus came sooner. They could have been together in the same event and that COULD HAVE happened differently from their point of view. They didn't know when
Professor Pechawer, you mentioned Matthew 24 and Revelation, but I have not heard any reference to Daniel. Do you reject the idea that the final seven in Daniel 9:27 immediately precedes Christ's return as described in Matthew 24 and Revelation 19? You stated you see no connection between the man of lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2 and the Beast of Revelation 13. How do you explain 2 Thessalonians 2:4 & Revelation 13:4-9; 19:15-20:3 (cf., Daniel 7:11, 25-26), where the man of lawlessness and the beast both blasphemy against God, and both are empowered by the Dragon who himself aspires to be like God (Isaiah 14:14), and where the Beast has power over the saints for time, times and half a time or 42 months. And as far as the antichrist is concerned, does not the dragon desire to be against Christ (Revelation 12:3-6) or in place of Christ? John defines what an antichrist is: "By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming..." (1 John 4:2-3) You glossed over the "Desolation" (Matthew 24:15), which Jesus ties to Daniel. Still, you avoid the obvious and, my guess, minimize what the "Desolation" is by a comment you made regarding the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem. My apologies for taking up your time; your answers are still of interest, though I now realize they are from a P.P. position ignoring not only Daniel but the Prophets at large ~ FYI - The land was not "Palestine" in the first century Church. The name change from Israel to Palestine occurred in 135 A.D. by Hadrian. Sorry, couldn't help myself - God sending or allowing a delusion (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11) for those who refused to believe is equal to that which Paul references in Romans Chapter 11 regarding his kinsmen (Matthew 13:13-15). Matthew 16:1-3 "The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ “And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?" It seems that Jesus thought that recognizing the signs of the times had value. This was a direct slap in the face to those who should have recognized who He was and will again miss it at His Triumphant Entry. The sign of the times provides preparation to those who discern them and an opportunity to evangelize the lost before it is too late because Christ's return is imminent once the signs begin. Comfort One Another ~
Shouldn't the idea of immanence be more tied to the unknown time of one's death, than to the end of the age?

Great episode. I'm glad to see these kinds of brotherly "rumbles" -- I'm sympathetic to Larry's desire to see this tied to Olivdet Discourse and 70AD. During the end of the talk Bobby mentioned "I've read your paper on this" -- what paper is that? Could a link be posted? I've not ready any of Larry's work before and I'm intrigued. Thanks for modeling a loving debate!
Praise the Lord by using this ministry to share the gospel and teach people how to understand scripture especially the book of Daniel that’s difficult to interpret. I’m in specific need of prayer that God would transform my mind and help me remove all the distractions that’s currently taking his place as a priority in my life. In my heart he’s Lord over my life but I’m not giving Him the time of day that He deserves because I’m focused on current events and the spiritual war taking place in our culture and I’m being convicted of this by the Holy Spirit and I want to win this battle over a passion that’s set up an idol in my heart
What if the man is not married but he is extremely sexually promiscuous and won’t take responsibility or accountability for his actions. How does that relate to this episode. I mean he is not married anymore but he is very spiritually immature.
This is my view for what it's worth. Rev 13:18 is not referring to 'a' singular man. There is no 'a' in the Greek text. It should be translated as man/mankind/humankind. The Greek word is anthropou, used for 'Son of Man', which is son of mankind - plural. The Greek word for man is anthropos. Some translations have correctly ascribed it this way, though not many. Likewise, the phrase, 'man of lawlessness' is a personification, and not a literal 'man' - singular. It is a kingdom/empire of man/mankind. It is 'man pre-eminent'. Humankind - a united kingdom of man, himself, as was the rebellion (apostasia) at Babel (Babylon), a united rebellion against God the Creator and his Messiah. Of man's rebellion (apostasia) Paul writes in 2 Thess 2:4, 'He (again using the pronoun 'he' as a personification) will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God'. Speaking metaphorically, Paul is to saying that he, man/mankind, will think himself superior to the God who created him. Man's version of what is truth opposes the Word of God. These keys are given in Revelation itself using 'type and shadow' of the OT; The beast 'out of the sea', Rev 13:1, is; the complete chronological lineage of Gentile kingdoms which were to come (Daniel) and unite the world in rebellion to God, as at Bbel/Bavel/Babylon. It is the complete beast because it has been assigned the number 'seven', the number in scripture which symbolizes complete/completion/whole, as with the seven churches in Rev 1 being the complete church; seven days make a complete week; Jacob worked seven years to complete his servitude to Laban for Rachel, etc. So the beast 'out of the sea'- sea of Gentiles, is the complete chronological lineage of Gentile kingdoms, as described by Daniel, which were to come and unite the world in rebellion to God, as at Babel. The little horn (referred to as the antichrist) which grows to displace three others, the displacement of three is a description of it's power since the number three in scripture symbolizes strength, surety and stability, and thereby the little horn/power/kingdom starting as an eleventh horn/kingdom, displacing three, becoming an eighth kingdom; 11 -3 = 8. The number 'eight' symbolizes 'resurrection' and telling the reader that this 'little horn' is a resurrected kingdom. It is a kingdom 'which once was (at Babel, Babylon), now is not (at John's time of writing) but will come again (alluding again to its resurrection), Rev 17:11. It is the kingdom that is 'an eighth kingdom, which belongs to the seven'. The 'little horn' grows to unite the world in rebellion (apostasia) to God as first attempted at Babel where God said, if they be united like this, as one, nothing will be impossible for them. So, it is the resurrected kingdom of Babel (Babylon), signifed by being assigned the number eight. It is the kingdom 'which was wounded by the sword, yet lived', when God went down to Babel and 'wounded' man/mankind's effort to unite, as one, by confusing his language and DISPERSING him over the face of the earth. Mankind, the humanistic spirit of man powered by the dragon, whose wound of dispersion has been healed and is back uniting as one world kingdom under his own headship, just as he first attempted at Babel. Man/mankind has his own gospel to preach to the world, which opposes the Word of God; liberty, equality and fraternity, apart from God. His gospel blasphemes the Word of God calling it archaic, barbaric and even unrighteous. The word of man purports to save humankind apart from God and his Christ, Jesus. This is the deception 'which will be 'worshipped' as truth by all those who are perishing, because they loved the darkness instead of the light', 2 Thess 2. Cheers
2 Thessalonians 2:2 does not say "as that day has come." It says "that the day of the Lord IS AT HAND." Its close, which means that Israel's 70th week is imminent.
NKJV, NASB, ESV all says "has come".
@@DonHearth "...has God really said..."
Proper translation is has come.
@ChristCenteredEschatology The original English translations all say "is near" or something to that effect. Anyone who knows what the day of the Lord is, could not be mistaken about whether or not it has come. But they could be mistaken whether or not it is near, simply by knowing what the prophets said would happen (what it would be like) when it is near. People today think Israel's 70th week has begun already (day of the Lord is near), but only because they do not know prophecy about that day.
@@bugsocsollie1694 unfortunately the church today does not understand the nature of the prophesies regarding the last days and the second coming, so they have to choose to ignore or not believe a lot of scriptures.

Jesus already came back in 70AD. Praise the Lord. Creedalism isnt Christianity. Hyper Creedalism is the problem. Mat 24 is a problem for Creedalism. THIS generation will not pass away until the Temple is destroyed. The dead were raised from Sheol. Those who remain are raised spiritually. Death is spiritual death. No it's not over symbolic. The Temple was desolated by the Roman army. Nobody believed it? Really. Nobody believed in Left Behind Rapture Futurism until Schofield and Darby.
When Jesus says Im coming soon it means soon. 70AD. If I say the bus is coming soon, 2000yrs isnt soon or quickly.
Jesus came back in like manner. In the cloud. Coming on the clouds is an apocalyptic language. So the world wide event of Jesus coming to Jerusalem will be seen from Australia? Quoting any scripture is pre 70AD.
Jesus came 70AD. Just like He said He would. Parousia means Presence. Heaven and Earth passed away. (Old Covenant) We are now in the New Heaven and Earth. If OT HandE haven't passed away. We are still under the law.
