[2022] NJ Transit Trains at Newark Broad
What we have here is the remaining archive footage of Newark Broad that I have been clearing out. We get to witness a good variety of power, including PL42AC, Arrow III, ALP-46, F40PH-3C and GP40PH-2B. The video was taken on 4/29/2022. The only exception is the night scene at the very end, witch was taken earlier on 10/21/2021.
Thanks for watching and enjoy!

NYC Subway: D, E and Q Trains on the IND 6th Avenue Line
Переглядів 1,9 тис.14 днів тому
Because of some construction on the Broadway Line, uptown Q trains were running on the D line from DeKalb to 47-50 Sts, and then on the F to Lex/63rd St before switching over to it's normal route on the 2nd Avenue Line. Additionally, there was a sick passenger that got the area around 59th St Columbus Circle tied up, and this backed up all the way to the 47-50 Sts express track. As a result of ...

Once again, the museum train of R1/9 type cars ran on each Sunday in December. This year, the train operated from 2nd Av in lower Manhattan, up the 6th Av line to Lex and 63rd, and then on the Q up to 96th St. I captured the train in a few locations, 47-50th Sts, Broadway-Lafayette, and 72nd St. Thank you to the New York Transit Museum for their efforts in organizing these events, and thank you...

More info here: www.operationtoytrain.org/ The New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway once again hosted the train on it's territory in New Jersey. The 3024 heritage unit, an SD40-2, led the train. I captured the train in three locations, once in Newfoundland, and twice ...

Working through the footage backlog from last year's holiday train before it runs again this year! Here we get to witness a variety of car types, R1/9, R46, R68, R179, and R211A. I was leapfrogging the Holiday Train a bit, hence how I ended where I started, being 59St Columbus Circle. I held anchor at West 4th Street for just a bit, until the Holiday Train came back around. This is the same day...

For the New York Yankee's season opener, the NY Transit Museum ran the Train of Many Colors (TOMC) and some IRT Lo-V equipment up to The Bronx. After arriving at 161 St - Yankee Stadium, I stuck around for awhile just to see what I could see. And what we saw was an out of service train of R142s, as well as different parts of the TOMC departing to the south after being split up in the station. T...
PiRail Visits Canada: GO, VIA, and TTC Action Around Toronto

I went on a trip for a few days around Toronto, Canada. Naturally, being from New Jersey, this was all pretty new for me. So I caught what I could while I was there. In this video, we see a clip from Line 1 of the TTC subway, a clip from the Toronto Railway Museum, and then plenty of GO Lakeshore West action. I also saw a VIA train at the Port Credit GO station, as well as another VIA in the da...
Fixing a Broken Rail at 42 St - Bryant Park
Переглядів 8 тис.Рік тому
While I was leapfrogging the holiday train, a rail broke on the uptown local track at 42 St - Bryant Park. I filmed some of the work done to rectify the problem. In summary, holes were drilled around the break for a pair of joint bars to be installed. This fix will got the railroad up and running again quickly, and as it turned out the work was competed in just under an hour. I would imagine th...

NYC Subway 2017 Holiday Train RFW (Lots of Whistle)

RFW footage from the front of an R1/9 on the 2017 Holiday museum train. I did not record the whole trip. The portion covered in this video was from 57th Street to 96th Street 2nd Avenue. At the end of the RFW section, I got a view of the train heading north of the 96th Street station, and then a view of it leaving 47-50th Streets. Overall this was a pretty slow ride, with lots of slow zones and...

Does anyone know why #401 is wearing an 880 number plaque?
Good catch, I didn't notice myself until you said something... I too am curious as to why the 401 is wearing the 880s number. Hopefully someone knows
Bummer - still no 484.
Really is, they need every car that they can get on this one, it gets more popular each year
@@pirail 923 and 925 are next. I wonder if they'll attempt to restore both of them or make one good car out of two.
Your guess is as good as mine. Depends on what shape they are in, they might need a parts car. Of course I would like to see all of them restored, but who knows how feasible that is
@@pirail The Seashore Museum has R-1 175, which has already served as a parts donor for 401 (one set of door leaves and possibly one sign box).
In that case I would think both cars should have a decent shot at restoration, especially since it seems that not much was taken off the 175
Excellent video my Friends
@@MarcelosalivaTRENESArg Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it
It’s working! It’s working!
1575 was down that day.
Awesome 👍
Bro the R-1 is still on Service?
It’s time to replace those tracks there. New track bed, new rails etc
How do they discover broken rails?
Hey WebSoak, I love MC MTA that series is awesome, thank you for the hard work. As far as your question there are two ways that come to mind as far as detecting broken rails. The first is simply that a T/O could've seen it and reported it. The second is that the signal system would have probably caught it. I would imagine a break in the rail would've caused an open circuit condition even when a train was present in that block, which would have alerted the local tower or rail control center to the problem
Don't know why but for some reason I kinda wish that you started the video with the law and order dun dun sound for dramatic effect 😂
Awesome video on mute.
Good work even I have seen workers work for days on tracks but only 30 mins I am impressed
Moe missed the whole show.:) The IND old timers ran express all the way, correct?
Yep express all the way. They're still real quick to
@@pirail They can still howl ass. I remember them very well.
I Love This Program
Now, on to fix the F line!
cool video over summer lastyear there was a boken rail at lefferts blvd they have the change the whole tracks
These moments. Good capture. I wonder about having to swap them out if it's that severe.
Hooray to Maintenance Of Way! Hard-working people, dedicated to a full service, that made the New York City Subway the safest passenger railroad in the world. Just as it was in the 1960s decade, the work continues throughout the rapid transit railroad.
Nice moment captured. I wonder how often they have to do fixes like this.
Thank you! It would seem this sort of thing happens between 3 and 15 times a month if looking at the 2023 data, but that's incidents for track in general and not just broken rails, though I would imagine they are relatively common. I got that metric from this website: metrics.mta.info/?subway/majorincidents so take a look if you're interested. I appreciate you're comment and I thank you for stopping by!
Bruh how did you even get this footage lmao
The R1/9 series cars have a passenger accessible front window, which allowed for this footage to be taken
Recommended to me =] , Cool Video :D .
