SOTA activation ( Ham QSOs on mountain summits) are mainly videoed. My call sign is JG1GPY. Please call me any time. Cooking on the summits after ham comunication is also of my interests. SOTA activations make anntena making, CW QSOs, cooking, and good exercise put altogether. What an interesteting hobby it is!
Mt. Kayamaru Activation (JA/KN-013)
Departed home at 3:00am to avoid Highway congestion during the holyday season. It was still dark when arriving Kamasawa parking. I made 19 contacts including one W station. Again annoyed by small bugs but resulted an enjoyable activation.

Mt. Daibosatsu Activation (JA/YN-024)

Another successful SOTA activation. Very nice WX and comfortable temperature made the activation more enjoyable. I got a pile-up in 7MHz band for high elevation of the location. Hikers were enjoying great scenery from the trail. Highly recommended for SOTA activation.
Mt. Gozeiri Activation

PT antenna in 7MHz didn't work properly. It may be because the band condition was not good. Many calls in 14, 21, 28MHz bands , indcating the antenna was working okay. I used many mosquito coils to repel flies. Temperature was at around 20C, very comfortable.
Mt. Raiden Activation (JA/TK-035)

I went to the summit several months ago with Canadian friends. Many QSOs on 7MHz band even though it was a weekday morning activation. Only 1 QSO in higher bands. I am not sure if it was caused by my antenna settings or poor condition. It was a nice 10km walk to Oume station. I didn't bring meal to the summit today. I hope you enjoy the video.
Mt. Oobora activation (JA/SO-031)

Another successful activation to Mt. Oobora in Shizuoka prefecture. It is located near Mt. Fuji and Yamanakako lake. The summit is always foggy when I visited the summit as humid wind from Yamanakao lake may play a role. Many QSOs on 7MHz band but no contact in 14 and 21MHz bands. I may need more precision tuning by adjusting antenna wire. I also brought a scale to measure the weight of PT box ...
Mt. Gongen Activation (JA/YN-054)

It was a relatively easy 1.5 hour hiking to the summit. Because there are no easy access except for cars, the mountain was very quiet, and I met only a couple of people. Nice view from the summit, but I was annoyed with small bugs. I do not recommend to go there during at least spring time.
Mt. Misyoutaiyama Activation (JA/YN-038)

Mt. Misyoutaiyama is one of the best 200 mountains in Japan, and it took me nearly 3 hours to get the summit. Despite of the good weather forecast, it was raining when arrived. Antenna was hosted in two different heights, and significantly different propagation was observed in 7MHz band. Antenna elevation dominates the performance.
Mt. Gozen activation (JA/TK-006)

M. Gozen is 1405m ASL mountain in Tokyo, and is called one of the steepest mountains in Okutama area. It took me nearly 3 hours to the summit, and the trails were indeed very steep. Even though it was a successful activation, I had a little tough time as I forgot to bring pen. I improvised a pen using a mosquito coil but it didn't work well. Never forget pen for SOTA activations.
Mt. Gangaharasuriyama Activation (JA/YN-075)

Spent about four hours at the summit of Mt. Gangaharasuriya. 22 QSOs including W and BX stations in 7,14,21,and 28MHz bands. Improved the throwing bag made 11m elevation of PT-antenna deployment with good location. Enjoyed nice and refreshing May WX on the holiday.
Mt. Bukka Activation

Another activation to Mt. Bukka. Free leech repellant spray was available at the entrance gate of the mountain. No encounter to leeches this time. Good QSOs in 7MHz bands but no QSOs in high bands with EFHW mode.
Mt. Sekirozan Activation (JA/KN-018)

Another activation to Mt. Sekirozan. It was a sunny and warm WX. Propagation on 28 was very good, and I made two QSOs with W stations. Placement of PT-BOX relative to the top surface of summits seems important.
Mt. Kuratake Activation

Another successful activation of Mt. Kuratake (JA/YN-061.) Higher position of PT-BOX for the EFHW mode was important to superior performance of the antenna.

アクティベーションお疲れ様でした。私は近所の清掃の日だったので無線は出られませんでした、残念。ペン忘れですね、はは。以前ペンキーというのを作って遊んだのを思い出します。割と使いやすかったですよ（過去動画にあります）。ストレートキーとボールペンを一緒にしたものです😁沖縄のSteveさんはパドルペンを作ってました😆

Hello , i use the same antenna system with a 9m carbon fiber pole and a 9:1 transformer. in addition of the paperclip i add a piece aluminum sheet around the pole secured like you with clamps. i did some test with a standard fiberglass pole using a 8.6m wire with the 9:1 transformer and cannot see any difference. As you said the ohmic contact is crucial. my antenna is performing well from 40 up to 10m and i am not using a fiberglass pole since this system is far more convenient. 73s V85NPV Op Didier
Good to hear that the carbon antenna is used in Europe! Some stations use Al sheet to get good contact here too. Recently I am using PT antenna instead. Hope to make QSO with you! Merry X'mas.🎉

Aerophone mini is a good instrument but it is for biginers. Get a higher one if you already have experience.
@@takeshiabe1816 I guess you're right - the usual rule is that you should always buy the best instrument you can afford... but the rider to that is that you should also buy the instrument that sings with you; that's how I bought my Pratten-style flute 30 years ago - it sang with me at the store, when much more expensive instruments felt 'dead' in my hands. This will be different because I can't walk into a store and try them all... so I'll have to go on cost/features... and that possibly means an EWI Solo........

7MHz は横に張るのも良いのですね。やったこと無くて知りませんでした。14MHz以上の周波数のバーチカルでは海外にそこそこ飛んでいるようです。
