Nope - it's an avoidance behaviour. The slugs crawls on, and then a few hours later the sea pen will extend back up out of the sediment.

I've told and shown my students for years that much sea life (including nudibranchs) is so weird that if someone said it came from space or was found in space people would believe it. And this one is pretty basic - there are way weirder.

Technically yes, but they are under the skin, so cannot be used for vision. They presumably only detect light vs dark.

@@mamacat63 That is their response to being bitten. They are large colony of polyps. The inflate with water inside the colony to extend up from the sediment. Then, when bitten, the colony contacts, expelling the water and allowing them to pull down into the mud.

It is a sea slug, there are a bunch of different species of the nudibranch gastropods.

It’s a sea slug, all nudibranch are sea slugs but not all sea slugs are nudibranch if you get what I mean, most nudibranchs are predators eating corals specifically, while a sea slug like a sea hare, mostly eat vegetation.
