Tacoma Thunderhawk Baritone BM6C (Made July 28th, 2003)
This guitar is so much fun. I don’t even want to pick up my other guitars right now. It’s probably not practical as a main guitar, well maybe for the right person it could be your main axe, but for most people this would be a super fun secondary guitar. The strings are thick almost like the high strings of a base. It sounds best fingerpicking but even strumming sounds good. I got too excited and recorded a video while my kids ate breakfast so sorry about the clanking in the background. When I get time I’ll record a prettier one.

I sold my favorite guitar! - 1953 Gibson J-45 Review
Переглядів 71321 день тому
I recently traded my favorite guitar- a 1974 Martin D18s- and a pile of cash for this 1953 Gibson J45 (which I’ve always wanted to own). Did I make the right choice?

1949 Martin 00-18
Переглядів 8821 день тому
I’ve got this gorgeous 1949 Martin 00-18 for sale. It recently had a neck set and plek done by Joe Glaser in Nashville. Overall it’s in excellent condition. Has a couple minor pickguard cracks that don’t go all the way through and the back has some scratches and playwear is evident throughout but overall an excellent sounding and playing vintage Martin. It doesn’t appear to have any additional ...
2024 Gibson Southern Jumbo Original
Переглядів 5902 місяці тому
If I was after a single guitar for myself this would be on my shortlist. The Southern Jumbo is basically a fancy J45. This has the LR Baggs VTC undersaddle pickup factory installed so it’s ready to be played at gigs or church or your couch. It’s very versatile. It’s essentially brand new other than a surface crack on the back. The crack doesn’t go all the way through it’s mostly just cosmetic. ...
1970s Washburn Prairie Song D62SW Review
Переглядів 1262 місяці тому
I’m selling a this mid to late 70s Washburn Prairie Song. The playability is excellent and I think it sounds pretty dang good. It has a couple issues like a crack in the top along the neck and a slight bubble in the top near the soundhole. Both things sound worse than they are but I’m selling this for $700 because of the issues. Happy to ship anywhere for $80 additional. At $780 shipped to your...
1934 Gibson L-00

Playing some tunes on my 1934 Gibson L-00. This is one of my favorites I’ve had with a big v-neck and a great dry woody tone. I’m kind of hoping this one takes a while to sell because it’s pretty near the top of dream guitars for me. Follow me on Instagram @brotherdavemusic to see what else I’m selling or contact me about a possible purchase. Listing this for $5800 always happy to hear offers o...
Vintage Shootout - 1934 Gibson L-00 vs. 1936 Kalamazoo KG-31 vs 1930s First National
Переглядів 2422 місяці тому
Today I had some fun making a video comparing three models from the 1930s. The Gibson L-00 is one of the most famous small-bodied guitars of all-time and the 1934 is possibly the most desirable year. So it blows the other two out of the water, right? Right?!
1974 Martin D-18s - The Best Dreadnaught Ever?!
Переглядів 5862 місяці тому
Skip forward 15 minutes or so to avoid the rambling and just hear the tones. The title is obviously tongue in cheek but I am honestly blown away by this guitar. Maybe it’s that I’ve heard so much negative talk about mid-seventies Martins that I had low expectations but this guitar is easily my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned dollar for dollar and I might prefer it to some of the other dreadnaug...
1956 Martin 0-18 Talking and Playing
Переглядів 2162 місяці тому
Fast forward 5 minutes to skip most of the rambling and just hear the tones. I’ve reached a problem with my buying and selling. I’m always kind of on the hunt for the perfect small body and perfect large body guitar. I currently have two of the best guitars I’ve owned and I really don’t want to sell either one. The problem is this takes up a large amount of the buying and selling money I have s...

Sounds great! What are your go to strings for it?
@@samscrapbook these are D’addario phosphor bronze XT 13/56.
Interesting thanks
Been looking at one of these. I have had a Gibson 330 for years as it hollow body, has a 43mm nut. As do most of there electrics. I find the close to 44mm accounstric nuts too big, these I see have a 43mm nut. Disipointed with the lack of electrics at a cost 4.4k (UK) sounds great thou!
Sounds insane man!
Yes- I have a 1995 Buddy Holly J45 that has stayed with me when other guitars came and went. I love Martins but a good J45 just has a bit more sparkle while keeping most of the low end
That is a great sounding Gibson, sounds like a thick pick what were you using?
@@dividedbytimestudios I usually use Dunlop Primetone 1.5 triangle picks. I couldn’t find any though for this video shoot so I was using a Gravity classic pointed 1.5 xl
I have one 2 years old now. They're great guitars. It'll start sounding even better after a while. Which I'm sure you already knew that..mine has 1.72 nut width
I’m glad I found your channel, Dave! I’m an avid buyer/seller of acoustic and electric instruments as well. I’ve only tried a few 70s Martins and I was a fan! I don’t understand why they’re seen as “bad” or not as sought after. The only issue I have is I prefer Adirondack spruce for pushing the volume a little louder for bluegrass music.
It was under 2,500 dollars? Just keep it, man. The guitar obviously makes you happy and it (probably) isn't like you'd have to sell your house to keep it. I think it almost sounds like a 1960s Gibson J45. Gregory Alan Isakov style. Hang on to this guitar for maybe 10, 15 years more and you can always sell it then!
Dig the singing with it, really shows how the guitar fits with a voice
@@LVXLOTUS thanks! I mostly stopped singing with my review videos because it makes them get hit with copyright notices and it’s not shown as widely but I agree I like when people sing and play to hear how they blend together.
Needless fact, i think Zappa played one of those.
I have owned 5 Martin D18S models. I also owned a 1968 D-35 S.. Of the 100 plus guitars I have owned the best guitar I have owned was m the D-35S hands down. The real problem with the 70s Martins was many of the regular D-18 and D28 bridges were installed in the wrong place. My 1972 D-18 is possibly the best of the half dozen D-18 I have owned. I currently own 3 Martins to include a 2015 00-18V with highly figured Mahogany backs and sides.
@@jeffhildreth9244 there was a D35s I was going to buy to compare the two. I love this size. Also a HD-28S I still might get.
That thing is got some mojo….🤓
Vintage jems! I really want to find an old Gibson TG-00 or a Kalamazoo KTG-11 or KTG-14. They are super fun! Awesome video by the way!
@@SeamusJohnsonMusic thank you!
@@brotherdavemusic406 No worries! Gotta love the vintage stuff!
@brotherdavemusic406 I ended up finding a Gibson TG-00 from the 30s that will be a project! I'm very exited to make music with that old doll!
Enjoyed your rambling (made your story interesting) and playing. Looks like the 0-18 gotta go. Although both guitars seem unique in their own right. Nice to hear the "selling" helps support your family. 😊 If you buy some more guitars don't hesitate to post another video. Thanks!🎵🎙
@@bailey123198 thank you!
My brothers got the same one been in our family for four generations now, unreal sounding instruments
Good to know there are others with my problem..😊
Hello! Great playing and cool guitars! Where’d you learn to play these songs?
Thank you! The songs I play here are Belle - Jack Johnson Rivers and Roads - Head and the Heart Annabelle- Gillian Welch Amsterdam - Gregory Alan Isakov It’s still alright - Nathanial Radecliffe #41- Dave Matthews As for how I learned them I think I looked most of them up on ultimate guitar through the years although a couple of them I learned just from listening to them a bunch. I never really plan out what to play before I start recording I just kind of float from song to song.
@@brotherdavemusic406 thank you, sub’d!
I have the same battle about guitars. I finally found an answer....I now own 0-18, 000-18 adi/sinker, D28MD !!!
The whole modern deluxe line is on my list to try. I haven’t had any yet but I’ve heard great things them.
My D28MD will be up for sale soon because it’s hurting my old arm and shoulder
What I know now is vintage Epiphones cost a lot more than vintage Gibsons
How much were you looking to get? Nice guitar!
I’ve got it on my Facebook page for like $3100 right now. On Reverb I think it’s $3475. Happy to make a deal though if you’re in the ballpark.
Wonderful sounding instrument! :)
I also like the Martin 0-18 size. I have 8 of them. 1923, 1927, 1939, 1943, 1949, 1951, 1952, 1968. The 1923 had a big hole in the top fixed by expert repair guy T.J. Thompson. It plays really nice now. The best sounding one might be a 1939. But, they all sound very good with their own distinct sounds. Cracks that are well repaired don't bother me. My 1952 0-18 has 6 repaired cracks in the top. It is a great sounding guitar. I got a 1946 00-18 at a low price because of a couple repairs. A great guitar. I was lucky with all the guitars I bought. Most were bought from reputable dealers so I didn't have to guess much about the status of the guitars regarding repairs and playability. It is possible that a haphazard repair under the bridge of your guitar might need to be redone for it to be its best. But, if the guitar plays and sounds good with a proper nut, then good enough. I also like to bang on my old guitars a bit hard with a light pick - orange Tortex. Finger picking is also good. I spent a lot of time learning Alice's Restaurant.
That is one of the guitars models i bought, but had to sell… i need to find another one like that for my collection… The guitar sounds great… and great for the blues…
I wish i could have that guitar… its mouthwatering…
Super cool Martin my friend! you came up in my feed. enjoyable watch.
@@czorr1997 thank you!
I love mine! I have a 2021 50’s reissue. I’ve gotten so many compliments on how it sounds, even from non guitar players.
Mahogany Martins are awesome.
Nice sounding maple AJ!! I recently bought a new J185, and they sound very similar with the crispness, clarity and midrange punch.
A j185 is next on my list!
It always amazes me how so much tone and volume comes out of these smaller old Martin boxes. Nice playing as well..
Great piece bro !
This one or the standard ?

Sounds great!!
Tune a guitar to Open G tuning
Yeah its sounds like an old gibsonian. I was considering the 42 banner but after listening to it in the raw,i dont think so. My money could best be spent elsewhere ,like eastman guitar remake of this model
Nice instruments but they have that flat plinky plunky sound capoed at the third frett, and maybe a little sweeter at the sixth frett. It sounds the fullest without the capo.
Absolutely beautiful story and a wonderful outcome. Thanks so much for sharing. Gotta love the CME community for sharing the best stuff. xxx
Absolute chills, dude. What a wonderful story and thing you did for your family 👊🏻
Is this your #1 - nice playing!
Cool story. I left a guitar in Germany 53 years ago when I came home while in the Army. It was not an expensive guitar. I had bought it over there and when I was getting ready to go, I gave a friend a little money and my home address. Well, it never made it home. Don't really know why but after getting home my wife (still is) bought me a Washburn which I still own. Thanks for the fun post! Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on You Tube!
Y'all are amazing!!! So. Who's going to pitch this story for a Netflix special? It's made for the world to know.
This is a frickn amazing story! Congratulations Brother Dave. Nice thing to do for your uncle:)
May God bestow this family with many blessings. What another fine example of how to treat your fellow man. Only in Jesus’ name can things like this be possible. Faith does not make things easy, it makes them possible. 🙏
Nicely expressed!
Exciting!
Thank you 👍
Sounds great!! Is that the LG2 historic banner?
Hey I’m sorry I just saw this comment. It’s a 1946 LG2. I’ve had the historic banner at one point but this one is actually from 1946.
