Pretty sure that's an Oceanic Whitetip. If so, that guy is lucky to be alive. Those sharks _are_ what everyone used to _think_ Great Whites were: people eaters. When people find themselves victims of shark attacks after a shipwreck, it's usually Whitetips that did the attacking. No joke.

Imo every diver should carry a spear gun for moments just like this. Why go in the water unprotected ?

Don't ever do that they have an very strong instinct to chase anything running or flapping around the best thing to do in that situation is to sit still make eye contact and if it gets to close put your hand on its nose and turn it away .

The video starts with the shark swimming down towards the diver. I understand the logic of staying calm and motionless, but I think the shark was thinking lunch anyway. A juvenile white tip will bite before asking.
