That bad CGI is the reason why that movie works. The aliens are campy and silly while at the same time being ominous. If you get rid of the silly CGI, it’s just a bad spooky movie.

Great upload. We actually just lost Cormac McCarthy last year at 89 years old. Blood Meridian is generally considered his greatest work, and it has often been described as unadaptable due to the meandering nature of its story. Interestingly enough James Franco showed a lot of interest in trying at one point, even going so far as to produce a poorly received short film based on the book. Franco adapted another of McCarthy's works, Child of God, a few years before that. It wasn't great. No Country for Old Men is one of a few examples where the adaptation is superior to the original book, at least in my opinion. McCarthy originally wrote it as a screenplay and it just works better on film. The Coen Brothers did an amazing job.
