    Papua New Guinea pidgin is a creole language known as Pinglish-pidgin/english. Its English, German and local venicular. Eg, raus or rausim is German. Also, the current Pidgin is different from the original pidgin which has more clear English pronunciation.

    This is so cute! Tho the English messed us all up we can find common ground in the Creoles left behind You should check out Sierra Leone creole, Krio, they use a spelling system more like Tok Pisin but with a grammar more like Nigerian Pidgin! And if you spelled Nigerian Pidgin with a similar phonetic system it might seem more similar I think :)

    lechon isn’t of Spanish origin. Prior to Spanish colonization, pigs and wild boar were being spit-roasted over an open flame throughout Philippines and Asia , a technique that Filipinos refer to as “inasal.” The name lechon was assigned to the roasted pig later on. Roasted pig is one of the most practised cooking traditions throughout Southeast Asia Hawaii and China, a pig roast is a staple. The tradition of the pig roast goes back millennia and is found in many cultures Roasting a pig on an open fire is the most simple and ancient art form of cooking. In China a roast suckling pig is purchased for special family occasions, business launches, or as a ritualistic spiritual offering. In Indonesia, roast pig is called babi guling In the Batak people's tradition, babi guling is a prerequisite in wedding offerings by the bride's family. In Papua roasted pig is an important cultural and social event among Papuan people.

    Im thinking we would be muslims. Or if china centuries ago decided to conquer certain parts of the philippines, we would be china now. Or other european countries besides spain might have conquered the philippines.

    We would be Malaysia

    • @joodeki
      @joodeki 6 місяців тому

      No we wouldn't. Malaysia was colonized for centuries. Malaysia itself was created in the mid 1900s and they got their full freedom in the 1960s. Without Spanish colonization of the Philippines, there would have been no colonization of Malaysia, "Malaysia" would still be struggling against the mighty Brunei, the Sultanate of Sulu, and the large Majapahit Empire. In fact, the Sultanates of Brunei and Malacca dominated "Malaysia" up until the arrival of the Spanish and later the Portuguese and British. And the Malacca that spoke "Malay" didn't venture to the Philippines, they traded, sure, but it was the Brunei that took of parts of the Philippines. The Malacca (Malay) would have had to fight the Qing, the Brunei, the Sulu, the Indians, and, and many other kingdoms just to reach the Philippines. And the Malacca themselves couldn't leave their territory in western Malaysia because it was too vital of a trade route to expose to their warlike neighbors, especially the Brunei, which still exists today.

  • @joodeki
    @joodeki 6 місяців тому

    Well. For one thing, Filipino would not exist as there would be no Philippines. China wouldn't exist either as western colonialism wouldn't have taken place in Asia. Taiwan would also not exist and be ruled by dozens of different tribal groups. Lots of Southeast Asian countries wouldn't exist either like Indonesia and Malaysia. Brunei would still be around and be in control of a large part of the Philippines. Indians would have a foothold in the Visaya and Mindanao region. Luzon and Visaya would change a lot, but Mindanao would definitely be strong kingdom of Muslims (they successfully resisted Spain for 300+ years). For the Philippines, the kingdoms and vassals that existed before the the Spanish came would still be around or assimilated in other cultures. The Caboloan, which were Chinese-Muslims of Central Luzon would still be part of the Ming Dynasty, the Ma-I and Polilo tribes would probably have been close allies to the Ming Dynasty as they were good trade partners. The Caboloan were the ones that attacked Intramuros at the Battle of Manila. The Tagalog and Visaya would dominate, as they still do today and their animalistic religion would still be around. The Luzon tribes most likely would have allied with the kingdoms of China and Taiwan. The Hokkien would probably have left Fujian (China) in large numbers and have their own kingdom in the Philippines and be a strong enemy of the Qing Dynasty that replaced the Ming in the mid 1600s. The Qing forced Mandarin on the Hokkien, so it's possible they would have escaped to Taiwan or the Philippines to recover. Japanese pirates would have been all over the Philippines, both being an ally and enemy to everyone. Slavery would still be around. Y'all can pretend that it wouldn't, but it was Spain that outlawed slavery in the Philippines in the 1800s and many countries in Asia never outlawed slavery even with European intervention. The Sambals would still be slave hunters, just like the Tagalog and Visaya. The Aeta would probably be extinct (there's only 50,000 of them left today, imagine if hunting them continued). Colorism would be probably more extreme due to slavery continuing, and if the Aeta disappeared, the slave hunter tribes would have went south eastward to hunt Papuans or enslaved each other, as in, Tagalog enslave Visaya, Visaya enslave Sambals, Sambals enslave Caboloan, Caboloan enslave Indians, etc, while also enslaving their own "unwanted" people. Indian tribes would definitely have come into conflict with Visayans and Mindanao tribes. The major religions would be Islam, Hindu, Buddhism, Tagalog, Visaya, and some other Filipino tribes of decent population sizes, or a mix of all those religions. Baybayin would be a major writing system and tribes would each have variations. I suspect Luzon tribes would have replaced their writing system for Chinese languages though or have a mixed Baybayin-Chinese writing system. The Ming or the Qing would have expanded into the Philippines, especially in Luzon since they already had a foothold with their Caboloan (Chinese-Muslims) cousins. "No way we would speak Chinese!", you say? Bruh, Filipino is already like 10% Hokkien aka Chinese. Lumpia, pancit, kuya, ate, all those words are Chinese. The advancement of gunpowder weapons might have been slower. It's also possible the Arabs and Indians would be the one to spread gunpowder technology to Southeast Asia by sea, but that could also have spread to the Chinese kingdom by way of the Silk Road or Chinese kingdoms actually improving their own gunpowder weapons (they never did in our reality so I don't see why they would have in this alternative timeline). Which actually means that Japan would not have had guns in 1549 brought over by Portuguese, and therefore would have fought their Sengoku Era with just swords and bow, and would have had a harder time invading the Great Joseon State (Korea), and would have fallen behind in the technological race if both the Qing and Joseon decided not to trade them gunpowder weapons. Japan's only way of getting gunpowder would have either been from the Indians by way of Southeast Asian sailors going to Japan with their Indian-traded or Arab-traded guns. Jade crafting culture would probably have made a come back in the Philippines if the Qing decided to spread their influence to the Philippines. If y'all didn't know, the Philippine tribes were known as Jade master craftsmen back in the day. Jade was taken from Taiwan, shipped to Luzon and crafted there, and delivered to China for trade at the Silk Road. I know the question was "in the Philippines", but there's no way to do that in detail without explaining that kingdoms all over Asia would also be different and those kingdoms would have territories in the Philippines. Again, there would be no "Filipino" and the closest we would have are dozens of tribal groups of Tagalog, Visaya, Ilocano, Bicolano, Moros, etc all hating each other, having EXTREMELY different religions and constantly waging war and hunting slaves. Yes, I know I could have just said we would all "still be fighting each other", but that's boring. Also, it's possible we would all just be part of Brunei's mighty empire. It was the Spanish that beat Brunei and halted their expansion to the Philippines. It's also the Brunei that controlled the rich city of Manila, or as they called it, Seludong. Also, that, we would have vastly different names for cities and regions. There would be tons of Chinese-sounding names, Some Indian, LOTS of Brunei. The colonization of the Philippines was what led to the colonization of South Asia and Eastern Asia, hence the Philippine nickname of "Gateway to Asia". Colonization was a butterfly effect that ended the reign of many kingdoms, unification of many tribes, ending of slavery, the halting of powerful religions such as Hindu, Buddhism, and Islam, the end of hundreds of religions all over Asia, the end to many traditional practices all over Asia. The Eastern world today (Asia means East by the way), would be vastly different and that difference would have affected the region known as the Philippines in ways no one could possibly predict. Everything I have mentioned are based on what kingdoms and religions existed in the area, but for all we know, the Aeta would have had their revenge on all of their Asian slavers and taken over the Philippines. The Spanish called them great fighters and it's not unheard in history for the oppressed to rise in power when given the chance. Anyway, it's long, but I hope you readers enjoy my fictional theory based on what I know pre-colonial Asia was like.

    • @joodeki
      @joodeki 6 місяців тому

      @@AsianSP Yes. There would be multiple colonizations from multiple strong or large empires (example: Brunei was strong, Qing was large). I personally believe Luzon would be Qing or vassals of Qing, while the Visaya and Mindanao would be united under Islam. And that would be the "balance" in the region. Islam would have continued slavery and kept peace with the QIng so that they could sell slaves to a nearby neighbor. The only "Filipino" groups to continue as "themselves" unaffected by this fictional reality would be the Caboloan (Chinese-Muslims) protected by the Ming and Qing, and the Mindanao tribes that proved themselves strong in our own reality. Tagalog and Visaya would survive, but forever changed, colonized by dozens of different groups, but ultimately belonging to either Qing or Islam at the end.
