Emerald Ash Boarer (EAB) is a small insect that's been found in Winnipeg that kills ash trees. The Province set up over 180 traps across Manitoba in 2020, with 7 in Selkirk, to monitor if this harmful bug is spreading. Just keep an eye out for early leaf color change and leaf drop between August and September with an isolated portions of ash tree crowns. That will tell you where EAB is before the big purple traps do. Most successful proven method of keeping local EAB numbers in check is to responsibly inoculate select trees then turned into big EAB bug zappers!
