This song become so much more interesting when you realize that it connects to the Phantom Manor and all the bad things that happen in the song are because of the Thunderbird, a spirit that is said to guard the mountain.

My 5th grade class learned this song from the Johnny Tremain film. We then put on a play about the American Revolution and sang this at the end of the show. I think we got a few lyrics wrong; we had to guess on some of them because we didn't have the Internet back then.

most people think that this is the only song that Johnny Tremain fans listen to which has grown over the years to be a stereotype. nobody makes anybody listen to one song all day long except on june 19 (day that this movie premiered in 1957) Then we wave our posters, our join or die flags, watch Johnny Tremain and listen to this song. Quick side note i am thinking of switching the Johnny day celebrations to june 20th because of juneteenth which is already an observed holiday on june 19th. It is to make it more fair for everybody

Jonathan Winters was a naturally funny guy and a talented abstract painter. This is not an example of his best work though. His comedy records were hilarious as were his specials like “Gone Fishin’”. For everyone here bashing winters and saying how “unfunny” he is I’d suggest they watch his other films and listen to his comedy records before dismissing him.
