    I have the same problem. I know this is 8 years ago. Is it worth changing the injector first to see if that’s the problem?

    • @matthewsimkins
      @matthewsimkins 4 роки тому

      Yes it would be worth testing the injector. I assume injector problems are more common. The video shows a failed pump though so if yours is exactly the same then I can only assume you have a bad pump too. I found all the help I needed on the Smokstak forum. www.smokstak.com/forum/forums/vintage-diesel-and-oil-stationary-engines.60/

      @@matthewsimkins thanks for the reply. really didnt expect you to answer considering how long ago it was. very interesting what you wrote about the final things that you did. I have tried to do the timing as you had wrote. i removed the valve inside of the fuel pump. the timing was out and i have corrected it using shims. i have connected everything back up but disconnected the injector. i wind it to see how much it squirts from the fuel pump i am not sure if its enough. i bought a reconditioned injector and doesnt seem to be squirting very much. i read that your fuel pump was no good. how much pressure did it throw out? and when it sprays how much spray comes out? i cant seem to find a manual anywhere with these ac1s. do you know where i could locate one?

    • @matthewsimkins
      @matthewsimkins 4 роки тому

      @@jackhawley6398 It does sound like your pump is gone. My bad pump didn't deliver any fuel at all. Fitting a new one got the engine running but I didn't see the spray pattern before starting it up. The SmokStak forum was the only forum I used. I also contacted Jim Perkins at petterengines.co.uk and bought some parts off him.

    i saw all the wrong signs instead of all the right signs.. you'll screw ur back up sure enough this way.. from what ive seen and heard and researched, you get down on one knee, pick up the box(or whatever heavy item) by bending over WITHOUT curving your back so just move from your hips, with your knee/leg thats NOT on the ground by the box, then put the box on the knee/leg thats not on the ground, then lift up AND BACKWARDS a bit (if u can) to a standing position holding the box close to your body at a normal height with your arms at about a right angle(aka 90 degree angle), then walk (slower is better but you dont have to snail around lol) to where you wish to place the box and using your arms as much as possible and your LEGS much as possible ALL WHILE KEEPING YOUR BACK STRAIGHT, DO NOT ROUND IT, kinda bend your knees down a bit and using your ARMS as much as possible instead of your back, carefully set the box down. If you need to use your back to set it down or pick it up, just remember DO NOT curve/bend your back, and DO NOT TWIST (to the left or right) your back in any way. So big keys are: USE the one-knee technique (like a knight) DO NOT bend/curve your back when lifting or setting down - keep your back straight - use your hips DO NOT twist your back in anyway like to the left or right WHEN SETTING OR LIFTING - remember to use your legs and arms more - bend your knees, use your arms to pick up and set down more than your back Hope that helped. Google some more vids on How to lift heavy boxes safely.

    from my experience with this project you should aim to start with the best possible bike. If you spend a lot on a good condition bike you can sell the parts you take off and you won't find any nasty surprises (I found a mouse nest in the battery box!).

    Cheers. I don't know exactly what bike the rear shocks are from but but they measure 365mm from eye to eye. I had to do a lot of work to get them to fit. Jobs left to do are jetting, chain roller and number plate. Then get it on the road!

    I think it's a 4 inch on the back. Any bigger and the chain would be catching the tread, there's not much clearance there as it is! The tyres are Blackrock and I got them from TNTracing.co.uk. Very cheap and very good! bit scary on tarmac mind, keep it on the soft stuff :)

    they are only a menace to livestock, not people. Personally I think if you want to live in territory that was once native to wolves and raise livestock, you should be responsible for building high fences. Laziness/cheapness isn't enough of an excuse to make an animal go extinct.

    If they were in Scotland then they were probably in England too, the island isn't that big and Scotland was (to my knowledge) much more sparsely populated then England back in the day.

    They need to introduce these back into the UK wholesale, I would prefer to have them wondering around my town too, would be a massive improvement if they could replace the resident chav majority - smarter, less likely to attack you with better hygiene probably.

    type 'magpie horrabridge' into google maps and then look west into the woods. You'll see the four circular tanks of the sewage plant, we saw the boar in the woods to the South of that. I think it's called 'Stickle Woods'
