I just finished watching this drama. I am traumatized😥. I know historical dramas rarely go the viewer's way but this was too heartbreaking. Why? Just why did it have to end this way. There is no room for a twist. As sad as Moon lovers and Goblin were, there was a little room to imagine our ending. I am literally traumatized. The photographer did not have to die. Why?

Watch this six years ago. My father thought i was in nightmare but i cried just like aeshin. I would never move on and forget this series. As my country have been colonized by japan as well i insert this series in my mind forever.

오래전 한국은 출신위치에 따라 천민으로 태어난 부모는 그자식도 주인을 섬기는 노예로 살아가는 인생이였습니다 흑인들의 노예시절과 같았습니다.. 일방적인 노예문서로 계약서를 양반인 주인이 보관했죠 주인에게 매맞아죽어도 주인의 소유물이기 때문에 나라는 관여를 하지않았습니다 그래서 그런가 한국사람들은 피부색으로 사람들을 나누던가 차별하진 않아요 그마음을 조금은 알기에... 고집스럽고 보수적이라 생각이 다른사람의 차별이 있긴하죠😂😂 정치판이 시끄러운 이유...

What Japan did to Korea in this drama is more like a fairy tale compared to reality.

일본의 악행을 우회적으로 표현해 주신 이 드라마의 작가와 제작자에게 감사드립니다. 나와 나의 세대는 부모님으로부터 일본인의 악행을 들었기에 잘 알지만 말하지 않습니다. 너무나 잔인한 그들의 행위를 비난하면 마치 영혼이 흩어지는 듯 합니다. 차마 말로 표현할 수 없는 역사를 감정의 흐름으로 표현하니 참으로 대단합니다.

It's a comical scene where three men love the same woman so much that they never save each other from drowning. The middle man in particular says that he drowned today because they didn't save him from drowning.

우리가 일본인들에게 왜 너희나라는 역사교육을 안 시키느냐고 따지는데 정말 따지고 보면 우리도 역사교육을 안 시키기는 마찬가지다. 우리도 우리 역사를 안 가르친다. 대체 왜 이렇게 된걸까. 어디서부터 잘못된 것일까.

실제로 있었던일들을 극히일부만 보여진것뿐 그것보다 더한일도 많았고 허상의인물을 그려 더 극대화시킨것도있겠지만 이보다 더하면 더했지 덜하진않았을겁니다! 많이알려진 인물들보단 숨어서 광복에 힘을 보탠 이들이 많다는걸 느끼게해준 드라마예요~ 한국어로 보게되면 더더욱 생각하게되는 명대사들이 많습니다 한국의 역사가 스며있는 드라마를 리액션해주고 같이아파해줘 고맙습니다! 언제나그렇듯 우리들이 위험에처할때나 그럴때도 부디 관심가져주시길 부탁드립니다! 저또한 어딘가에서 이러한부당하고 비열한일이 일어난다면 꼭 이사실을 널리퍼뜨리고 그들을 비판할것입니다.

과거 일본은 한국을 침략하고 만행을 저질렀음에도, 사과는 커녕 현재 일본 서점에는 한국을 비하하고 혐오 하는 책들을 판매하는 코너가 있습니다. 그리고 그 책들은 베스트셀러 입니다. 세상 어느 나라가 타국에 대해 혐오하는 책을 쓰고, 판매하는 코너가 따로 있을까요? 이 드라마는 일본의 잔혹한 만행을 아주 일부만 담고 있습니다. 우리의 조상들은 독립을 위해 이름 없이 죽었습니다. 일본에 협력했던 매국노의 자손들은 지금도 고위직에 있고 잘 살고 있습니다. 대한민국은 그 찌꺼기들과 아직도 싸우고 있습니다. 이 드라마는 아픈 명작입니다.

픽션이 많이 있습니다 저 시절 저렇게나 많이 목숨을 던졌다고요? 자발적으로? 이게 바로 영화나 드라마로 역사를 배우는 것

Hi Kahla, I also cried a lot watching this drama -- it is a masterpiece... so beautiful so touching... so... everything...

이 드라마는 방영 당시 두 가지 역사 왜곡 논란이 있었어요. 하나는 일본이 조선에 저지른 만행을 너무 약하게 표현했다는 일본 미화 논란이었고 다른 하나는 당시 대한제국 황제였던 고종의 무능함을 미화했다는 내용이었어요ㅎㅎ;; 소소한 인물 관계는 창작이지만 큰 골자의 사건과 배경은 사실이며.. 나라를 빼앗긴 부끄러운 시대의 역사이지만 조선의 독립을 위해 싸우고 죽어간 수 많은 투사들과 <국채 보상 운동> 등 조선 백성들의 나라를 위한 희생과 단합은 대단히 자랑스럽고 감사하며 마음 아픈 우리의 역사입니다. 일제 강점기 시대 배경의 드라마가 많이 만들어지는 이유는 지극히 당연합니다. 혼란의 격동기.. 비극의 시대에는 수 많은 사건과 사고.. 역시 수 많은 영웅들의 이야기가 있으니까요 ㅎㅎ

I'm so happy to see Mr. Sunshine's reaction!!! This drama is my favorite, but it was sad that there were not many reactions of this show. As a Korean, I watched every episode crying, and later I cried so hard that I could hardly breathe😭😭 I hope you like this show ❤

Not shown here but in ep 22 when Eugene meets a Korean guy asking for directions to Columbia University, the guy introduces himself as Ahn Chang Ho. Ahn is a real figure and pretty much the Thomas Jefferson of the Korean independence movement - a name every Korean basically knows

First of all, I really appreciate your historical point of view. When you talked about your opinion with tears on your cheeks at the end of this video clip, my tears came down along with you. You were absolutely right about what really happened at that time, things were way worse and more brutal, and Japan has never admitted or apologized for what they did not only to the Korean people but also to all the people throughout Asia. Japan did numerous massacres in China, Singapore, and other places. I start to subscribe to your channel. I'm sure you are brilliant and have great historical awareness which not everyone has. I know many foreigners who started to watch this drama, but they didn't watch it all the way through because first, it requires historical knowledge and background of Korea's early 1900s, second, there are so many different characters which is complicated for foreigners. But you made it through. Thanks. I will be looking forward to other reactions in the future.

The writer of this show compared the fate of the Chosen Dynasty (Former name of the Republic Of Korea) with the situations of some characters, like this scene. Ae-soon is just losing money on gambling with others. Likewise, the Chosen dynasty kept losing in foreign affairs with other countries. If you reflect on the show, you'll find other metaphors of the Chosen dynasty's history.

Just finished watching on 07/07/24. Truly a MASTERPIECE!!! MUST WATCH!!! All the cast - brilliant acting👏🏻 But the ending, is too heartbreaking....too sad but a beautiful drama!!! Lee Byung-Hun , an excellent actor👏🏻 Captain Eugene Choi, you will be remembered forever as Mr Sunshine...Saranghae ❤

미스터 선샤인도 재밌지만 한국 드라마 최고명작이라 불리는 작픔은 따로 있습니다 1991년에 mbc에서 방송한 여명의 뉸동자란 드라마 입니다 ost도 명곡이죠
