Really helpful. I'm on a macOS, and I can connect and drop a file onto the SFTP from my local machine. When a server with our Tomcat/Java server tries to connect, using the same login credentials I use on my Mac FTP Client (Cyberduck) I get a connection timed out message in our application server logs. I've enabled the logs on freeFTPd, but they aren't showing anything regarding connection attempts from our server.

So Microsoft is simply extorting people to buy new versions if you don't require these "improvements". Have you noticed software companies jumping on this bandwagon? I have. They refuse support on any product at the end of Microsoft's lifecycle -- without any technical reason. We're talking software that makes use of file server services and share permissions at best. There is no reason to force users into an upgrade when they receive absolutely ZERO value for their money.
