I know this is far too old to have any effect on the campaign but I'm still going to say it: while I do think negative proficiency is a cool idea, I do not think it's a good idea to have them be mandatory for character creation, especially 5, as that would *heavily* debilitate the characters, especially since many of them already start with negative modifiers before leveling up a fair bit. Maybe if you let the players choose if they want to take negative proficiencies but get something in return, like maybe if Val takes a negative in persuasion then maybe Dwyer gets to allocate like an extra 10% to Val's growths or have another proficiency so it is more of a trade off
