How to expand Cocopeat 5kg brick | NB Coir
Here’s the method for expanding a 5kg cocopeat brick:
Preparation:
Place the 5kg compressed cocopeat brick in a large container, such as a tub or wheelbarrow, to accommodate the expanded volume. A 5kg brick can expand up to 60-75 liters of cocopeat.
Add Water:
Gradually pour 20-25 liters of water over the brick. You may need more or less depending on the specific product, so it’s best to start with a bit less and add more as needed.
Soaking Time:
Let the brick soak for 30-45 minutes, allowing the water to penetrate fully. You’ll see the brick begin to break apart and expand as it absorbs the water.
Breaking Apart:
Once it’s soaked and softened, use your hands or a tool like a shovel to break apart the brick, mixing thoroughly until all the fibers are loose and the texture is fine.
Additional Water:
If the mixture is too dry, you can add more water in small amounts until you reach the desired consistency.
Ready for Use:
The expanded cocopeat is now ready for use in gardening, potting, or seed starting. If there’s excess, store it in a dry place or a sealed container.
